Title: Marijuana and Crypto
Post by: skydweller on October 27, 2017, 01:46:03 AM
I'd like to start a distribution of Marijuana online using crypto currency. I am currently in Canada (Vancouver) and the legalization is only a few months away. I know the owners of many dispensaries around here and there is a demand. I'd like to know which direction to take it. I also spoke with a close friend of mine who works at a marketing firm about creating a coin for a uber type of business. Develop an app that allows limos/car rides using this app to pay for the ride. Uber is not allowed in BC while there is a huge demand for it.

Insight on how to make this come to life would be greatly appreciated and anyone that works with me to make this come to life will be eventually compensated for helping. I do have a large team of people that I can get behind this product but at this time I do not have the whitepaper done or any insight on how it can be done.

The marijuana situation will eventually turn worldwide. British Columbia grows the best marijuana in the world and I am well connected to the industry.

Looking forward to the responses. As I said any real insight and help I will be sure to pay it forward. This will come to life eventually but if I could use the forums knowledge to make it faster and more efficient why not create a mutually beneficial situation. I can send my phone number via PM if that works better or skype.

What kind of payments do the dispensaries take in your area? If they take Canadian Dollars and credit cards, then from my perspective you would a hard time competing with them if you want to use BTC as your only way of payment.

The only advantage you have is to operate like a darknet vendor, with no business permits and licenses and sell your stuff at a cheaper price than the dispensaries.

its too far from reality coz hes planning two business's at the same time, the marijuana distribution although in most of the countries is illegal but he says sooner will be legalized in canada is possible to operate he only needs middle man to do the job and all he needs is to manage.,

But about the UBER operation using luxurious vehicles is the problem, simply because it involved LIVES of the passenger in which the prospective passenger wont rely on  DARK side,INSURANCE,SAFETY AND SECURITY is at stake here and i know even you guys wont let your life carry by illegal operator unless you are part or involved in such activities, just my opinion that coukd give idea.

Why make your own, if people already created the platform for this? https://www.openbazaar.org/  ???

If you say Marijuana will be legalized globally, would it not make sense to run it on a global market place like OpenBazaar? I predict a massive explosion in the use of these decentralized market places in the future, once people have figured out the benefits of using them.

Discuss this with the developers and run a pilot project on there, exclusively for people in countries where Marijuana is legalized. ^smile^

Thank you for the replies. Most dispensaries only take cash at this point. They are worried their accounts will get frozen. Also there is a lot of mail orders happening. If it could start within Canada and slowly grow beyond would be ideal situation.

The ideal situation would be to start a crypto that would allow dispensary owners to accept payment in bitcoin. If they show up they can transfer funds via crypto and collect the goods on the spot. This eliminates any theft of cash since currently although dispensaries are open they're considered illegal. Some dispensaries have had their accounts frozen so a lot of them do not accept credit cards. If there was soemthing for example maybe called HASHCOIN? and it was used to not only facilitate the purchase and sale between consumers but between wholesalers and dispensary owners there could be a market for it.

The cannabis industry is in the early stages of transitioning from an illicit to a legal economy. Of the $53 billion spent on cannabis in 2016 in the United States alone, only $7 billion was spent through legal channels. Clearly, legalizing the system will open a floodgate for new businesses.

Hopefully you have a whole new idea to start a project, this is not a new project, so many projects have worked on this topic. Refreshing is a requirement for your project to succeed.

I think mail orders can not guarantee that they will buy it. This will create a number of virtual buyers, it is not suitable to apply. You should apply the form of direct purchase.

Are there darknet vendors who have started using Open Bazaar? How successful would their sales be in using Open Bazaar compared to the usual vending on a darknet website?

There also other decentralized market places in other platforms. Burst is one of them. If only there was a way to integrate Tor with the Burst platform, it would also be a practical alternative.

Stop smoking guys ;D I'm watching such a crazy interest in creating such projects. Of course I understand what and why, but it seems to me that it is excessive. Sport, sex and to the moon ::)

Ive  heard such news regarding on the legalization of marijuana on your place. It would really be a good idea if you would able to make your own coin related on the purpose that you do like, just as being mentioned you would use it on transactions regarding on buying or selling such marijuanas. It just a quiet odd thing for most people for this thing to be legalize but eventually I do love the idea this would really make some good additional profits if people would tend to use your own coin. There are lots of coin developers on here.

In Canada, will it be legal for recreational use? If yes, the potencial for this is so huge

Hi, I greatly appreciate your response to my question in regards to cryptos and Marijuana. Would you be able to provide any insight on pointing me in the right direction for some good developers that could help me out with this? Also do you recommend coming up with a draft whitepaper in order to recruit? Would you want to work on this project with me? I see you have experience in the cryptos and I need to get up to date on things quick. I do have access to 1-2m in funding I could get together for the right project. the marketing firm adviser is saying I need to have more than just an idea. Some sort of implementation.

I know that mail order is starting to get quite big in Canada as well. So if we had a coin XYZcoin that could be used to pay for the marijuana and maybe offered some type of reward system like for example starbucks does it could be a viable option. lets say you walk upto dispensary abc and outside it you see we accept XYZcoin. Typically guy needs cash but now he can purchase this xyzcoin with his credit card and immediately pay for it at the dispensary. The real profit comes in with orders over the phone that can be delivered by vehicle, or via mail.

Thoughts?

Ricky

No, because you still need a license to sell it, which the OP will not have.

I find this idea pretty good but what I think is the volatility of the bitcoin exchange rate. This might affect the demand for marijuana sales and due to the changing demand for bitcoins.

An innovation worth developing. I did not find this in my country.
There are some coins that are always stable and can be used as payment.
yes like doge and DGB these coins are very stable and the fee is very cheap.

I do have access to licenses. Over 15 current license and I also own commercial retail units that are currently in process to be approved by the City of Vancouver. I also have some connections in Toronto to dispensary owners who are legit.

Really hard for me to see crypto currency in marijuana being a good investment. Considering I live in NY and dont see NY ever allowing it.

I agree with you.

I think, a transaction like this will have an bad effect on the crypto/bitcoin itself, given the transaction like this (cannabis to crypto / crypto to marijuana), I think the existence of bitcoin/crypto will be further tightened and threatened.

We already have something like this called PotCoin.
