hi everyone?
first of all let me just say that I am a huge fan of this forum.

So where I am right now is that I have around 50 k to invest in crypto currencies.
My first thought was buying as many antminer l3+ as I could and then keep them in a hosting facility that I found.
then I thought that I should spil 50/50 between mining for litecoins and getting hardware to mine for ethereum.

I know that I am late to the game but I am still hoping that it is profitable.

I would just like to know what would you do ?

Actually it is a good time to buy altcoins now. Most of them are cheap because of the fork. If i were you i would divide it to 3 equal parts. 1 for bitcoin 1 for altcoins and 1 part for icos.

Now I would not have done in your place. I think you should wait a bit, now the market is too overheated for investment. Then, I would just put your money in coins, mining in my opinion is not promising.

long term investment or short term? i was in your position and i decided to invest in btc and eth for long term and the other half in ICOS but i did a lot of research for promising icos

I think it is not as profitable to mine anymore. But buying alts at this point is more worth it. As for me, I have been buying KMD. Because their decentralized exchange is going to launch probably by the end of this year. Also their dICO platform - decentralized ICO which can go maintstream - KMD price could rival ETH ( the regular ICO) long term.

It was already said, but no hurt in repeating:
  - 1/3 Bitcoin, 1/3 Ethereum , 1/3 alt coins
  - don't spend more than 10%/15% of your net worth

For the altcoins, I suggest to look into the following variables:
  - still in sale, if possible in pre-sale with a discount
  - always do due diligence about the project: white paper (technical enough ?),  team, investors, advisors, github, google trends,..

You should probably ask this in the mining forum, you would probably get better answers that address the technical side of things.

If you are thinking to invest directly in coins, the first step is to just put it all in BTC.
Wait until the price corrects though. Every couple months, the price of BTC will crash for a week or more.  Last time BTC went from $5000 all the way down to $3200, then back up to where it is now.

After that you can start to diversify your portfolio how you like.
It is good to take a couple months of researching and observing charts before trying to make riskier investment moves.

Everyone will list their favorite coins and you should really research it yourself, but for what it's worth here are the 5 altcoins I believe are good to include in your portfolio:

If I had something like $50.000 I would definitely buy bitcoin with at least %40-50. It keeps rallying, its going great. Stronger than ever. Other best options are monero and litecoin for sure.

I would go for altcoins with 70% :) waves oax etc edg xel. They are very cheap. And i would buy bitcoin with 30% and hold them to buy altcoins if prices fall again  :)

I would put 90% in Bitcoin. Even a $1.00 made per day is still money made each day, there should be more people wanting to that. It's not that tough.

If you would like to get pasif income with longterm by make investment in BTC and ETH is good choise because these crypto strong in fundamental. But if you would like to get more profit from aktif income, I think use 10% of total amount for day altcoin trading and make invest in ICO, but this activity need more time and some skill.

50% or less in bitcoin then another 50% go to buy an altcoin thats good for longterm investments

In my opinion use 50% of that money to buy Bitcoin, then 30% for ETH. Other 20% to make invest in some potential ICO. I these portfolio will minimize the risk in crypto investment because BTC and ETH is strongest coin and invest in ICO actually more risky than invest in BTC/ETH.

Better you invest in altcoin now. Ethereum is best for long term investment. Many people predict eth can hit $1000. Now arround $300. Also look at waves neo and komodo.

Fifty thousand dollars is a good amount to start investing cryptos with.  Put some of it on Stratis and you will see some nice returns shortly. 

Buy ETH and spend it into alts.. best double dip you can do.. or just buy bitcoin and hodl it.

If you want to go long term, I recommend bitcoin or ethereum.
Bitcoin prices steadily seem to go upwards, and whenever there's another fork, you get more!
Ether is also quite stable, since so many ICOs and other coins/tokens are based on ether.
I personally invested in bitcoin AND Ether, along with ZCash. I didn't invest as much into Zcash as the first two.

Mining with graphics cards is not attractive as it is before 4 or 5 months ago. But i think you can still buy basic miners with 3/1 of your money and the rest of them invest in ETH , LTC and huge potential alt coins like Stratis , omg etc.

First, learn about cryptocurrency works. Second, calculate your fund with profit target. Third, keep practice until find the best strategy for you. For the first step, if you know how it works is very simple to take the right way investing your fund. I suggest you try invest with bitcoin for learn, use only 20 - 40 % from your money. No, you aren't late to the party. Even if you think Bitcoin has risen too much at this point, you are still in time because project is that it might get to $20,000 in 2018. In respect to how you should invest your 50k, I will advise you split it into five equal parts. That is $10k apiece.

One for bitcoin
Another part for altcoins
The other for ICOs
The fourth for only coins with lending programme like bitconnect, regalcoin, Westerncoin, hextracoin, glasscoin etc
And the last for the Mining stuff.

I'll say so invest yourself better in the viola than you'll air mine, now I do not see any point in this. Alts are cheap, and the leader is among them, so everything will be fine. About litecoins it is necessary to analyze the market, as there throws it.

Please try to consider again about your plan to mine ethereum because the fact that ethereum will try to move into the difficulty bomb and you can try to avoid to mine ethereum and just try to buy antminer to mine bitcoin will be very profitable for you.

The question comes down to if you want a long term investment or a short term investment. If you want longterm, invest into some of the cheaper top 20 coins, short term investment then some ICO's and dump them when they hit 2x the Ico price usually when they get released on coinmarketmap) Now, never put all your eggs in one basket, choose a few good currencies and invest your money in multiple baskets.

I'm new so do your own research but my long-term holds, aside from BTC and ETH, are: NEO, OMG, NEBL, HDG, LINK, ETP, WTC and BQX.

I think I've got a pretty good mix there and I'm happy with each of those coins long term prospects.

Split that 50K into two. Then buy ETH & BTC with one, then put that into cold storage and forget that for 5 years.
And with the other part Buy some Alt coin in dip or in ICO. Then wait for boomed.
Don't put all your money into one coin and of course DYOR before invest.

You're not late in Cryptocurrency bro in last year i thought that i was very late to join in this game but im wrong it is just a starting of cryptocurrency adventure ;D If you want to earn a good profit here better to do more research about crypto on how to earn or what strategy you want to learn but for me the best way to earn a good profit is to learn Bitcoin / Altcoin trading but that is very risky, Experienced investors says "High risk = High Profit" Any Investment has a risk so you need to take it but if you want less risk you can try Mining it has a risk but it's just a small you just need to measure how much you spend on electricity and you need a good place for placing your miner it's better to put your miner in a cool place or Try to join in ICO's but be careful most of the ico's are turning to scam be careful in choosing ico's.

Mining is not the only way for one to earn. There is trading man, an amazing opportunity for one to explore and get rich if correct steps are taken. And if you're willing to go for mining, one thing you need to avoid is cloud mining. It's shit and is only for stealing innocent people's money. Also if you're willing to invest in ICOS then you better be careful, it's risky and not every ICO out there is legit. Do your own research and then go for it.

If you have enough amount of dollars I think it is good time to invest in bitcoin and altcoin both are good for profitable investment now a days altcoin like Ethereum is profitable and chasing bitcoin for growth it is time to take the investment decision. If I were you I would not invest in crypto big money. I'd recommend BTC/ETH these are safe bets but 20% only. And 10% into 1-2 altcoins. But it's up to you.

$50,000 is a big amount to invest in crypto currency and i think better you learn about investing in many of coins because you need to choose a coins which could make a big profit in long term. i think btc and ethereum is a good choice like people said and you can split your balance to that coins and don't forget to not panic because you are holding the coins for a long term. beside btc and ethereum, you can trying to analyze other coins that might be good too and i think if you buy now, you can get lower price.

50k USD is a significant amount of money to put into crypto at one go. Although mining is a great way to gain some coins, I would suggest you to do other wise at alts are super cheap right now and you can make 5x more by investing in alts than if you invest in mining at this time.

I would invest in the 10 big coins, each coin with 5.000 Dollar Dollar.

Because all coins are nearly stable and all will rising imo in the future.

Always always do your own research and arrive at a conclusion yourself with all the references. I'm not sure if mining would be that profitable as you thought but with 50k USD that ROI might just be faster. Use the calculation sheet online and try to count as much as possible but do keep in mind that mining profit doesn't stay constant as difficulty goes up after some time.

A easier way is of course to invest directly into the coin you want. I would have at least one of the bigger coin as a huge share of my portfolio, in this case ETH or BTC (BTC is a bit high on the side to buy in at the moment but that's just my personal opinion so just take it with a pinch of salt). ICO is quite risky when you are new so try to stick to the more popular one and short term sell as long as it hits your desired ROI.

In crypto only put amount that you can afford to loose. Bitcoin and ethereum are presently stable and has considerable growth. Put a portion in privacy coin such as Monero, zencash etc. Platform alts are expected to grow and safer than dapps, so I would consider DNT, neo, Kyber etc. Some coins from financial and trading sector such as ripple, enigma, omisego, chain link etc

I would recommend you to purchase the equipment for the production of coins. Some of which you can spend on GPU. They bring less income but if mining on GPU will stop you sell them to gamers. In 6-10 months you will get your money back and then you will run your business with the money. Buy coins and wait for their increase in price is the worst idea. These better coins to mine and only then can we expect them to increase in price.

I recommend not to buy hardware for cryptocurrency mining. As others have mentioned, it would be a good idea to split your money in multiple parts and invest each in something different. Diversification definitely outruns specialization in the cryptocurrency world, as it reduces your risk and potentially grows your profits.

Now, I recommend you not to invest your money PURELY based on what others have said here. Why? Because this is a Bitcoin forum... Full of Bitcoin enthusiasts who obviously won't go along and tell everyone how Bitcoin is obviously going to fall in a couple days.

Bitcoin still has room to grow, but let me tell you that:
-Bitcoin is the original, most used cryptocurrency, but besides that, it's not much better than many of the altcoins.
-Bitcoin's potential growth is way smaller than the potential growth of other cryptocurrencies.
-Bitcoin is slow, costs much and is unlikely to be involved in daily usage. If you buy a candy for 30 cents and have to pay $3 in fees, you're obviously not going to be a happy kid. (or parent)

Of course, this can be fixed, but I just don't think it will stay the number one cryptocurrency in the long-term.

Therefore, I recommend investing in ICOs. Why? Their potential growth is HUGE and if you choose well, your risks aren't as high as many say.

Altcoins are a good choice too, but there are A LOT of them and you if you want to invest safely, it's recommended that you don't invest before having researched the altcoin. The problem with that is that you would need A LOT of research to research all altcoins. Therefore, you could try researching the altcoins others recommended in this thread for example. Don't blindly invest on them though.

I thought you were gonna invest your money into altcoins but it seems that you'll gonna invest it all in mining bitcoin mining is profitable also as ive heard that the difficulty in mining has change and you can easily find block because of new protocol being implemented same as litecoin these was implemented by the lightning network but its up to you what to mine. You can as well invest your money in trading crypto's.

I think 50% in BTC is not enough. Should be 70%. In mining I wouldn`t invest anymore at this times.

I think nice strategy:
33% for technological equipment for mining
33% for bitcoins
33% for etherium

Thats a handsome amount you are holding but the investment strategy is not very thoughtful. The miners are really not profitable now and you will have to handle the cost of maintenance afterwards. So believe me your 50K will drain up from your pocket in no time.

What ideal investment is to put this kind of money into bitcoin and into some of the good ICO projects that are being launched in the market. Even you can keep the coins into sites like freebitco and get 4% of interest money on juts holding the coins. Thats easy free and safe investment too.

One of the reasons we get to appreciate cryptocurrencies is you are never late in investing in a project and if bitcoin is a far fetched for you atm...we also have ICO's which are another alternative investment venture you can try out but remember to do your own due diligence before committing your hard earned money because there is always an element of risk. And as for mining I think this isnt a viable investment i would encourage you to do on an individual level.

I think you should invest in Bitcoin and Ethereum as these are the two largest markets in cryptocurrency and will certainly be more stable than other markets, if you invest in Bitcoin in early 2017 then you are profitable now x5

I'd do like 75% BTC and 25% Altcoins but take your time on the research.

I don’t understand why do you want to get into the alt coins in the first place. As there are lots of opportunity by just buying the bitcoin and alt coins altogether and keeping them stored for longer periods. Im not happy with mining deal at all because its getting very tough now a days and you should be more realistic about it. The 50K USD is a lot of amount and you could just grab 8 BTC with it and 5 Ethereum and 10 itecoin with that. On all of them you can just grab the keeping interest as part of your profits. I believe in such investments which are proven but not those which are going to be dead real soon.

I support your advice. Obviously, this is the most balanced solution and in cases if you choose the correct ICOs and altcoins for purchase this will give a good result.

If you are investing such a large amount, my suggestion is to go with a coin that is already proven to be reputable, as opposed to a potential ICO scam where you will lose everything.

It depends on wether you want your investment to have quick dividens or not. If you want quick dividens, learn ho to trade I guess. If not, invest in ICOs that fit your interest and seem promising

I don't suggest mining unless you have great knowledge in computer systems. It is a tough learning curve and profitability is down now due to ever increasing difficulty levels. I would put at least 50% in bitcoin and take advantage of fork coins. The other 50% I would put half in Ethereum and with the other have choose some alt coins with respected teams

I think buying in the end part of the year is a good time. The remaining couple of months of the year will always see pumping in the prices of altcoins and bitcoin. That would last until the following year for more or less a couple of months as well. This year, there was a very strong pump that happened in the first 3 months. A lot of ALL TIME HIGH was recorded. But be always cautious when choosing altcoins to invest in.

Well, you have many options and the option you chose depends on your risk tolerance and investment period (short or long term).

Your first option is the most simple: 1/3 Bitcoin, 1/3 Eth, 1/3 Litecoin and HODL (This is a very long term investment and in this case you should just forget that you own it for a couple of years or even decades).

What I see currently is a cheap altcoins comparing to prices before bitcoin gold fork. Mining market without bigger changes lately. Bitcoin check his strenght out. ICO warning - be carefull a lot of SCAM on board. For sure any idea you will find here check few times, because some of them are not as perfect as it seems to be.

Will buying all your 50,000$ in bitcoin is a good option too buy if you divide it in 3 parts you can invest in some ICO too and also in some big altcoin like eth probably you have a big potential for your investments in future

For me you should invest those in the next dump of Bitcoin. Read more news to get updated and when the time is right invest to Bitcoin because Bitcoin is a long term invesment and I think you wont lose.

As the user stated diversify the entire investment capital and make the best profit out of it. Best would be opening of exchange, but 50k for this case is not enough. Try to join your capital in bigger projects that can be sustainable. Mining pools, BTC dice, platforms for gambling and similar. Investing in alctoins is best but very risky.  Look around this forum.. All big boys do not play with exchanges any more, they have their own businesses started in correlation with BTC and altcoins..

i think Bitcoin's next target can be purchased at $ 3,600. ETH can be purchased immediately $ 300 looks good. The next target of ETH will be $ 3K in 2018.

$50k is a lot of money to invest in. You have the versatility of investing into a wide array of investments in relation to digital currencies. If I have that amount of money, below are my dream plan which I think suits the capability of it:

1. Mining Rig --- You may spend $10k to built a mining rig farm for known coins such as XMR or ETH. With that amount of money you can stick into a long-term mining which you can still cover the cost such as maintenance and electricity. For a long period of time, you can mine coins as long as you want and still holding them, once it reached your desired price increase then you can probably trade them and cashed out.

2. Trading --- I'll spend $15k, $7.5k for known or popular coins so I can day trade (higher transaction per hour) and $7.5k for weekly or monthly trade with less popular coins (low transction per hour)

3. ICO, Shares or Stocks --- Allocate only $10k for this as ICO's are cheaper and with that amount you can bought a lot of it which you can hold till the perfect time to sell. This also applies if you're going into company shares or stocks (btcpop, gambling sites, etc.)

That's a total of $35k investments, the remaining $15k are for emergency purposes like what I plan on #1 or personal use.

I would instead take $ 1,000 and share 50/50 bitcoin altcoins. And a month later I would have invested
$ 2,000 and so gradually, I myself would have seen where I had to invest ...

Buy altcoins! But first, do a background check about that altcoin. If you are able to buy altcoins, that will be a good investment.

I see that you have got a pretty decent amount of money to invest.Do not make any quick decisions as no one would like to lose this kind of money.There are many cryptocurrencies available in the market which are currently very cheap and are expected to rise at a skyrocketing speed as they tend to have a very high potential.I think you shouldn't invest all your money into a single cryptocurrency instead try dividing your money and invest it in different cryptocurrencies so that you don't have to worry about too much lose.

I don't like bitcoin, transactions are so slow. Ethereum is much better from this perspective. So I would suggest to buy ETH and buy some alt coins which have a good project behind them.

If you want a long term portfolio, I would suggest an allocation about 30% BTC, 30% ETH, 20% LTC, 5% NEO, 5% NEM, 2.5% IOTA, 2.5% LSK, 2.5% OMG, 2.5% XMR. Or just buy Crush Crypto Core DAA from ICN. Or the index fund from ICN.

Right now I genuinely believe going with bitcoin is your best bet. It is really a good time to buy altcoins now, but which altcoin to buy is what is very important. The market is huge and it is something you will need to do some pretty good research first before you just end up buying anyhow alt. Right now mining is not profitable for normal users, onyl big companies are making profit while other users need to actually pay for their mining and it is not porfitable.     Personally I invested in a project by the name of Tio Tour Guides. Their hard cap for their ICO was just 580 ETH. Token supply is 450.000 and they just listed on EtherDelta, they have applied to be listed on coinmarketcap, and should probably be listed in a few days. They are also stated to be listed on HitBTC and Binance later this month. Some of their impatient bounty hunters are dumping some of their rewards for less than $0.1. Now this is a token that is most likely to be trading for atleast $2 when it's on coinmarketcap, so imagine buying $200 of some it now. That could turn to be over $4,000 within this month. Notice I talked about buying just $200 worth? because you wouldnt find that much for sale, they have a solid price control mechanism in place and most members of the community really do believe in the project, so not so many are dumping theirs. If you go with bitcoin you'll be getting an assurance of profiting, whereas right now the price seems high. Better is to diversify into different assets as mentioned in the above quote. Also as others have suggested, mining is a very difficult game to win, because it’s locked up by the big boys who get first access to the newest most efficient ASICs, the free electricity in China, etc..

Also others are correct that we are closer to some sort of topping and crash in the crypto markets than we were earlier this year. No one knows exactly when or if the next crypto winter is coming, but our sector is overheated and already in a bubble. Yet it could go higher still (and probably will especially at least for altcoins which are currently lagging behind BTC and should probably catch up).

Also do not listen to anyone trying to tell you which of their shitcoins to invest in. Everybody wants you to invest in the same bags as them.

If you have the funds and the access to mining then you should definitely split your investment across mining and investing, you will limit risk this way and hopefully for you increase profitabilty. I would aim to have a diverse portfolio made up predominantly of coins such as bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, then you should pick some alts that you believe in and you've got yourself a nice portfolio.

  I worry that waves has seen it's best times.   Finally Next year august is a very long time in crypto world, it really hard to predict that far.

Bitcoin investment is the best but wait for the best time to buy. I am also waiting for the price to drop and i am gonna put my investment also.

I think that now is not a good time to buy bitcoin because it is at a very big price. I think that is will go down from now and the alts will grow. If i had this kind of money i will buy with 50% of the ETH and with the rest i would buy 5-6 alcoins that look promisig. This is a good time to buy alt because they are at a discout price and you have a good number of them to pick from. My favourite is ETP right now.

Bitcoin is in a dip right now i think the price is around $9500 you should probably buy bitcoins worth of $50000 usd then HODL it for the time being then wait for the bullish price increase and wait for price to reach new all time highs then sell some of it and then buy again cheaper coin when im dips. There are a lot of way that can be done by your money if i were that person who hold that much i will invest the 50 percent of the money to the bitcoin 25 percent for the altcoins and 25 percent for yourself or may hald the percentage to bitcoin and altcoins in this way you can maximize your money profit

Although, to me, I would suggest for your to invest more in the bitcoin market, considering the amount you want to shed off in your investment. 50k is such a big amount, and it can buy you a substantial amount of coins to be able to invest or trade that may result to something promising. I think 50/50 would be my option, 50% to bitcoin, since it has been gaining these days, and 50% for strong alts like Eth or Waves for long term investment. That was a good idea, You can actually invest on building a mining rig because it will let you earn a passive income. Next thing is that you can still work on bounty campaigns while waiting for your miner to earn coins and the only problem that you will get is electricity bills.

Investing all $50000 in just one altcoin is not smart idea and whoever wants to invest big amount of money better spread those funds over more altcoins. I would invest in 50 low cap altcoins 1000$ each and hold them until their price increase or over longer period of time and then i would sell them. Or risk more money on less altcoins maybe result could be better.

it is a great time to invest your money now. and i think you need to buy several different coin. you can buy bitcoin, ripple, ethereum, and another coin. dont just focus on one coin. it is much way better to split your money into 4 or maybe 5 coins and hold it until the price is pumping up.
