As what we can see by now, cryptocurrency is starting to make its name and has the ability to be successful. Though there are many probabilities that it will fail, I still believe that it will be a success in no time. What do you think about it ?

bitcoin is, cryptocurrency in general not that much.

there are still so many who don't even know about altcoins. they hear bitcoin's name in passing and most of them don't pay more attention to it and those who do will only know bitcoin not all cryptocurrency. that is why altcoins never succeed in the long term, it is because nobody knows about them and those who do, only care about trading them to make more bitcoin.

as for the technology goes, many are using blockchain technology to create  cryptocurrencies of their own but they would be centralized and because of that nobody cares about them either.

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, so why the others cryptocurrencies can't have a success like Bitcoin?
Ethereum is a good alternative of bitcoin, and in the past time he has earned more success

Cryptocurrencies are not only BTC. The altcoins also are cryptos, but get so less value from people, because most don't just hold Altcoins, like they hold BTC. They rather trade them and make buy more BTC, to hold and benefit from the growing behaviour it is showing.
Now for BTC, as it is the real thing, the future promises, and I believe that many people who don't know about it yet, will also use it in the future!

I believe bitcoin will be on the rise and other Crypotocurrency might have a hard time trying to keep up with them. Since Bitcoin is known and has its high value other crypotocurrency can rise high too but not as much as bitcoin.

i think its only for bitcoin because people out there is only know bitcoin which in crypto currency and they don't think that other coins in crypto currency is exist too. but soon after they learn more about bitcoin, they will know altcoin and they will use altcoin too like us and i think the altcoin will be boom too like bitcoin. and with the altcoin, they can be able to earn money too like they do with bitcoin and soon they will realize that altcoin can bring something new to them.

It's pretty much the method of making money that has the Government bothered. A lot of people can make money through Bitcoin though they will die eventually while being ignorant.

We need to spread the bitcoin everywhere to use the bitcoin all the time in any location. Since we does not take the bitcoin every one there should be less number of people in the world.
Usage of altcoins will be reduced in future too dude. You may see the people invest in ICO and altcoin but the profit very cheap than the bitcoin investors.

No, I don't think it will fail. It's a long time since it was created, so I think that with tech progress it just can become more powerful.

Of course why not.   A biggest "YES" for this thread and opinion. If i would aware about bitcoin value , I would surly buy 1000 or 20000 bitcoins in 2010. I heard at that time the price of 1 bitcoins was something 0.17$. Those people who invest with bitcoin in 2009 they're richest enough.I wish i go back to past but its not possible.

Naa absolutely not. It will still take a hell lot of time to even make cyrpto available to around 20% of the world population. Only when this much people are connected to bitcoin. Then we can actually say that crypto has begin to march towards road of success but there are going to be many obstacles out of which government intervention is going to be the toughest to deal with. Lets see what happens.

You are completely fooled if you think that Bitcoin is only a method of making money. I can see that a low of newbs just have a goal of making money and thats it.

There are many unknown altcoins to people.Many know only BTC but still there are many more cryptocurrencies  available which can be popular within few time such as ethrem which became leading cryptocurrency of south africa leaving behind BTC. If we notice past changes in digital currency we will see a huge growth in digital currencies.

Yep it will definitely won't fail as bitcoins has survived many forks and drops and as long as people believe and invest in bitcoins, bitcoins will not fail.Crypto currencies are slowly gaining more and more popularity especially bitcoins and as demands of bitcoins increase its prices will also increase like anything and other coins will also come into light but some coins would suffer and might even end.

I would like to disagree, contrary to popular belief of people from Bitcointalk - we are not living is a bitcoin-friendly world.
When I talk to people about bitcoin I hear so many misconceptions, biased opinions or blatant lies about cryptocurrency that I assume that it would take a lot of time to change the mindset of society.
For now, we are still early adopters, a minority - booming phase will be next step of bitcoin adoption, but it is hard to say when it will happen.

The overall market will boom in the next 5-10 years only question is to what degree and how much money flows in. I think people can all agree now that bitcoin is here to stay most likely and it will be industry leader. What

we dont know is how altcoins will function in the future and whether or not they will be of any use beyond speculation in 5 years time.

Forks slow bitcoins rise but I am sure it will go up in no time. It is getting bunch of attention from investors and I am sure that the market will have an increase in demand which will be profit for those short investor. Less supply more demand and value. I just hope that they will stop the banning of btc in their country so that many people will experience the benefits of bitcoin.

I think bitcoin is already boosted up too much and still it has the potential to boost again and again. in fact bitcoin's popularity is still increasing from time to time, therefore we can expect to see the price of bitcoin trading above 7000$ in next few weeks. i think still  bitcoin is providing opportunities to people to invest money in bitcoin.

Bitcoin as a head has proved that cryptocurrencies industry is going to skyrocket any moment from now. At list we have make some significant progress since the beginning of this year and we should be happy for the price increase from around $750 in February this year to around $6150 October this same year. This is a sign that coins like  ripple,  ethereum,  bitcoin Cash are going to  make great impact in years to come and we would all be a beneficial.

Bitcoin has been a major contributor to cryptocurrencies and has definitely helped altcoins too. The demand and value of all coins are steadily increasing. We are close to 7k as well, patience is all that is needed. Once the popularity reaches a certain level, the downfall of btc is highly unlikely.

This is a very interesting and encouraging opinion. Yes, countries have started to understand the power of the bitcoin. And some countries have accepted oficillay the bitcoin. Now is the moment of bitcoin, we decide if it will become the one world's currency or if it will gop into oblivion. This does not depend on us people here at bitcointalk that discuss the bitcoin, but on all countries governments.
 And if they (govs) decide in the bitcoin favor the price of the bitcoin could appreciate very fast.

I'd argue it's the other way around. Or rather, will be. Bitcoin has lost its hard supremacy over the alts a while back, when it lost 40% dominance over alts. We'll have to see growth rates for 2018 and an increase in scalability. I think lightning is long overdue, even at this point. If it does not rise up to demand, and another viable and more scalable payment method will be able to, I think it might. Be it ltc or dash or whatever. I think it's a real possibility, given the current state of affairs.

For bitclins, i strongly agree. But for the whole crypto currency? I dont think so.
Because you see, Bitcoins are getting more and more indemand due tonits great increase in value which is something we all cam agree on. Plus it has history amd experience going along with it which make it a more trustable crypto currency.

Alternative clons on the other hand, are clearly not that trustable because of all the scams and shitcoins that has been popping out of nowhere recently. That is why people tend to stay away from them as much as they can. Specially those who do not know much about crypto currencies because they are afraid. Now if this doesn't stop, I don't think altcoins will be anywhere near bitcoin.

Cryptocurrencies most especially bitcoin is already big in many parts of the world. Many are accepting bitcoin for even simple daily transactions and in big ones. Though bitcoin has underwent a great development in the past, there is a pretty good propability that bitcoin will persist in the future.

Yes, bitcoin is so successful now and may also fail once investors cut their part, but most probably investors will come to it and not to think about the probability to fail then. So as we can see now, many truely believe in bitcoin now the price proove that, and so we can see the successiding success of bitcoin and lately we witnessed the new peak of its value, and still continue of making it high.

Yes cryptocurrency will go boom in no time,,as of now there's a lot people in the world know about crypto currency and there is a lot of way you can earn cryptocurrency there's a trading you can trade different currency...cloud mining or mining and ofcourse campaign

The digital currencies are already in the global market this is acceptable world wide and has being use by a lot of people now. The future of cryptos especially bitcoin has been established I guess we are just waiting for the acceptance of governments to make bitcoin an official global currency. As the value of bitcoin keeps appreciating the demand grows and popularity of bitcoin go wider through the years I'll be not surprise in time comes paper money will no longer be needed

I agree. So many misconceptions about bitcoin, so many. Worse is that people spread that misconception to other ignorant people, blind leading the blind. It's after people actually know what bitcoin is, they will adopt it.

While cryptocurrencies are doing really well right now, the underlying blockchain technology is what is ultimately going to change the world as we know it.

I think some altcoins have future and we can see that, but some altcoins are just made for a pump and dump, thats how I see it. But bitcoin is a different topic, bitcoin is definitely gonna be ruling the world in no time, if that is the boom that you are talking about, then yes, I also believe that. Theres just no stopping in bitcoin now.

Bitcoin has the potential to completely change the already outdated economic system, and i believe this will pave the way for the others altcoins

Indeed, bitcoin is growing more and more each day now. It can become more successful beyond our imagination. But, it still has a chance to be fail. This is what we need to understand, chance to fail. Because, people tend to be careless when something going well and success and forgot that it can be fail at some times, and when the time comes, boooom, it hits people so hard. Just reminding you all, including me, we need to be careful on things we invest and don't let the happiness and thought of a successful investment make you careless. Thanks for the beautiful topic.

bitcoin never lost any "dominance". that is what the altcoin pumpers want you to believe so that they can pump their altcoins more.
the fact is,

• when you go to stores it is still bitcoin that they accept not altcoins.
• when you talk to people in the streets, it is bitcoin they know of not altcoins.
• when you look at the price history and the performance you can see bitcoin has been rising consistently with only corrections, and when you look at altcoins you see a pump in 2 months and downhill from there.
• when you look at the number of transactions you can see bitcoin is processing about 300,000 tx per day and when you compare it with altcoin you see they have some spike in the months they are pumped and that is it. the rest of the year they are dead.

in the end when you check out these altcoins with all their claims of being better than bitcoin and wanting to replace it and take the "dominance" from it, you can see they have serious issues worse than bitcoin. the scaling for example for many of these altcoins including Dash and Eth are horrible. not to mention how centralized they are.

Crypto currencies not only have bitcoins there are many other coins too. Many famous personalities have said that Bitcoin may vanish or would have zero value in the future but I don't see that happening still I mean O don't see the start. Etherum which is another new crypto currency has some good potential for the future. According to me in the future etherum and bitcoin will be at the top of crypto currency charts.

Bitcoin is no doubt the "Pioneer of cryptocurrency". Thanks to its recent value and popularity, many new cryptocurrencies have been popping up every day.

Right now, cryptocurrency might not be able to dominate the world yet, but it will gradually gain its position in near future...

I think the crypto currencies have already shown the max potential of their viability in the exchange market. What we will see now is the advancement of crypto currencies and their utility application in the market or more specially in real world. Once they are implied in the real world, like bitcoin for example then the user base will automatically get pumped to increase the market cap on which the real price of bitcoin depends. So surely they are hot success for us and for the future of next generation.

Of course, it will succeed. Because as you can see, cryptocurrency market cap is more than $150 billion. There is nothing can make digital coin fail.  8)

Yes, bitcoin and many of the crypto currencies have become the successor into time. I believe this will continue for linger than we can expect for few of the projects. Once people start investing into alt coins along with the bitcoin then they will know what is the potential of this market is actually. Once they get hold of it the mouth to mouth marketing will start taking the shape and world will know about it. This will lead to more crypto investors and thus more money driving into our cryptocurrency. Just cant eat until more than half of the earths population get into it and make the prices of bitcoin more than 50K USD. Im serious on that thought because we will need that much investors.

Very nicely put forth about the bitcoin facts. The crypto currency are really making the golden moves thought the time and they will rule the world in no time. Though they lack some credibility in terms of legal status and legal recognition but they will still be accepted by many investors in the future. That day is not far when the bitcoin will be used by government for their use and for public interest. Once that step is surpassed by the bitcoin or any other crypto currency like that then will surely pump it to next level.

what i am thinking right now is that, bitcoin will totally boom in no time, although there are lots of news about it, and people that are not interested before got an idea already and started to become curious to what is it really, and that is why i conclude that it will surely be at hot seat in no time.

Crypto currency plays an increasing and greater role in our life. It with confidence supersedes the usual currency and is in great demand. The increase in demand for it is clearly demonstrated by the bitcoin rate, which now becomes about 6,000 dollars. No currency of the world can be compared with such a course. And this despite the fact that, indeed, many people still do not know about its existence, or they know about the crypto currency quite superficially and have never used it. Over time, the demand for crypto currency and, in particular, for bitcoin, will only increase.

I've been thinking about this for a while now, as I'm trying to decide how much I want to put into it.  I just got my very first BTC in my account today!  I think it has great potential but a long way to go before 'going boom'

First, I don't even come close to seeing it as a currency right now.  Pretty much everybody here thinks it will rise like crazy, so why would you ever buy a hotdog with bitcoins today when those bitcoins might buy a car tomorrow?  Like the $20,000,000 pizza guy in 2010> The value has to settle down BIG TIME before you can ever view it as a currency.  As an investment, it's only as good as it becoming a currency one day, no?

Second, I'm no tech whiz (at all), but I've been reading and studying and reading about it, and am still scared to death that I'm going to lose it or get it stolen from or whatever.  I think it has to get way more user friendly to take hold.  My litmus test is, if my dad (can't set his clock in his Ford) could manage to get himself some and use it, then we've really got something.  And there's no way he could ever EVER figure it out!  But he can manage an iPhone, so that tells you that UI is critical and bitcoin hasn't got it (yet).

I'm just playing devil's advocate here probably, but I'm trying to keep from investing my life savings LOL.

As for the boom, it's already happening. Bitcoin is enjoying a massive rise in value, and altcoins as a whole are not even that far behind Bitcoin anymore. Soon, there could be altcoins that cannot be simply dismissed as an altcoin anymore, and become a legit Bitcoin competitor. It must be noted, however, that cryptocurrencies are still in their infancy, so I have no doubts that we have barely scratched the surface.

The advancement of cryptocurrency being used and accepted by a lot of merchants online has an increasing growth! That is why it is high time to invest. I think it already boomed. Cryptocurrency is gaining a lot of popularity this year. Investors are having interest in bitcoin.

i am sure that altcoin will increase later but we need to be patience and not getting panic when the price is dump. bitcoin price could dropped too far and what we can do is we can trying to buy more bitcoin so we only place an order and we can use our times to do other things. I am sure that from now on when bitcoin price is increase, crypto currency will boom too and there is a time to make profit from trading.

The great boom must come after a real mass adoption, when a significative percentage of the world choose to get involved in cryptocurrencies.
Larges corporations will have no choice but adapt to them.

I agree with you. I believe that the Crypto-currency will grow very strongly in the spring, as it was last spring. All this goes. Each crypto currency is now at a low start and ready to poke new heights.

I believe that bitcoin will be more successful in the coming years, and will remain the best cryptocurrency of all time. But when it comes to ALL cryptocurrencies will be successful in no time, I think, that is not probable. There's no point that all cryptocurrencies will have a BOOM in their prices at the same time in the near future. What I can see is that half of these altcoins will disappear in the near future.

If ever all cryptocurrencies will all rise up in the near future, it will give burden to fiat money because people will prefer to use cryptocurrencies instead of fiat money, and people will undervalue fiat money while prioritizing cryptocurrencies. This will also greatly affect the economy of a country if ever it happens. Fiat money will be stagnated and marginalized. That's one of the reasons why some countries are trying to ban or regulate bitcoin.

bitcoin is the highest rang currency, it will get even bigger i think, other currencies wont be able to keep up, which doesn't mean they are bad, just not as popular as bitcoin
