Title: How much do you store on Exchangers for Trading?
Post by: AkteX on October 28, 2017, 08:18:06 PM
We know that generally its not recommended to store your coins on Exchangers.
But we want to trade as well and earn some money from it.

So how much maximal would you recommend to store on any exchanger for trade?

Which Exchanger do you use then?
After those accusations here, I would NOT use POLONIEX (?)

Generally I will leave around 0.1 BTC on Exchangers in case I need trading at some point. I mainly use Nova exchange because they have DeepOnion :)

not bad, but 0.10 you can't make real profit on this....
So guys, you will not let more than 1000$ on Exchangers?

When i used to do some daily trading i was only holding no more than 0.20 in the exchange, i remember that i had them on Poloniex because i didn't bought the Trezor wallet by that time, now that i have the offline wallet i store all my bitcoins in there because i am afraid of leaving coins in exchanges, you will never know if someday it became scam, because it happened before.
But regarding to poloniex, it is a good exchange, it always had some acussations but it is a normal exchange, one of the most trusted.

so basically you send the coins there only when you want to sell / buy?

I had 2 bitcoins on bittrex when i used to trade (bitcoin was around $500) but it was still profitable because i remember that i used to make more than 0.10 bitcoins a day, it was not too much money but it was profitable. once that bitcoin started to rise i stopped trading because i had some losses over it.
But it was a nice exchange, anyway, i will never trust in one and that is why i prefer to hold my bitcoins on my own wallet.

I only try to have a maximum of 20% in exchanges, although I have 30% of my coins destined for another type of business. The rest I have saved in different wallets.

Most people hesitate to put too much on the exchange site, although the exchange site is very reliable, but everyone thought it would be much better to put bitcoins on the wallets that are already available in Blockchain maybe, where they feel very safe, to put as many bitcoins as possible in Blockchain ...

There are many exchanges like Nova exchange where they also having Deeponion even you can get more better coins there too so i would like to suggest you a google search about crypto market and search there exchanges from there if you are willing to have other coins too. In which the rates are better even from these amounts too.

This thread about Poloniex is old. I have money there and I had it months ago. No problems so far.
If withdrawals were problematic since June there would be dozens of threads like this one with people showing how much they are being owned by the exchange.

We can't recommend you how much you should be trading. It depends on your total amount of money in cryptos and boldness ;)
If you really want to know i have about $1000 on polo and a similar amount in bittrex, but that won't tell you anything because you don't know anything about me. I could be from India, earning $2 per hour or I could be living in the Emirates and getting $100 per hour  ;)

33% Bittrex
33% Polo
33% Paper wallet

so how do you do the trade now?
As holding your BTC on your wallet (like I do now) will not give you any profit

What if you have those coins that do not have popular wallets then?  Almost every single coin has a wallet though right?  The thing is if its some coin that doesn't have much name recognition, how do you know 100 percent you are downloading the legit wallet and not a fake one etc?

Well probably i had more than 1 bitcoin on Poloniex at the beggining of this year, but never more than that amount because i dont like to have my money on exchanges ,t is too risky and you all know that.
When july started i withdrew all my money from there, now i have 0.10 in Poloniex but only to trade for some altcoins when there is a good chance to make some profit from that, otherwise, i would not have my coins in there.

In past few months I'm around 0.1 BTC, that is now more then 500$ and usually I'm around that amount in bitcoins. Sometimes I hold coins there for longer when I wait for some trade and I know that is risky but withdrawing and depositing again is not so cheap, I try to do that as minimal times as I can. Profits from trades I withdraw immediately and I don't like to risk too much with trading, greediness killed my profit many times.
