Title: What's your biggest regret when it comes to Bitcoin?
Post by: squatz1 on October 30, 2017, 10:36:35 AM
I'll start off with some of my biggest regrets, and the one which I am most upset about is selling my Bitcoin early. I was one of the people who were able to get into Bitcoin around the price of $400-600, and at that time I even owned a couple of Bitcoins. I saw some profits and I sold off all of my Bitcoin, I was too scared to expose myself to the risk of being involved in Bitcoin and I got out. I would've loved to have a couple thousand dollars laying around, but that's me.

Also, gambling. I gambled a good amount with the bitcoins that I had at the $400-600 mark, if I would have that back now it'd be worth a fortune.

Anyone here have any regrets?

Yeah, well. If I had invested more before the August hard fork I'd probably have a lot more money lol. I had gambled bitcoin previously like you as well. I had forgotten about them. Years later down the road I remembered them. They are now worth a couple hundred bucks so that is nice. Back in the older days I tried to learn about bitcoin, but I was turned off by the fact that there wasn't anywhere to sell your bitcoins. There were websites everywhere for buying, but no sites up for selling. I then dismissed it as a Ponzi scheme. That was probably back in 2015 or so. Either way, it is worth a lot more now so I guess I slightly regret it. If I was to rewind back to that time without knowing what I know now I would have came to the same conclusion.

Bitcoin was shady as hell back then. It still is today, but just not as much. :D

Friends, the past things do not think too much. Maybe it's good to buy now.
Luckily, you bought bitcoin a few years ago. That means you still have a good eye for investment. I wish you success again!

i guess like most of the people the biggest regret is to not have invested money in it.
Nobody can see the future, the practical side of me though it was just a nice (and useless) experiment, combined with the fact i wasn't at home but abroad without a pc i didn't have a chance to invest time in BTC.
don't want to cry over a spilled milk but most of us it went like this.

When I stopped GPU mining back in 2014 (anyone remember middlecoin?) , I stopped because it was the summer and I didn't want to pay for electric to heat and then cool my house.  Litecoin was easy to mine still, that summer I could have mined the equivalent today of over $60,000 in litecoin.  *sigh*

Even worse, I had the opportunity to buy 10,000 litecoin for only $245 back in 2013.  Man, that would have been a great gamble!

Everybody's regret with bitcoin is not having buying enough when they could afford it. If we all look behind and see the price increasing we'll see lots of entry points we could have joined and hodled. I always cry when I remember I could have bought 10 bitcoins for 500 usd 5 years ago but I did not believe it could possibly one day gets to 6k USD. Lessons learned, now I invested on BTC and I hope that one day it gets to 50k USD and I can remember 2012 like a bad experience which lead me to a good profit!

Not being active enough. I am a grade ten student and I find hard time to inspire myself in doing bitcoin. Now I am regretting it. I missed the big change of prices.
I am enjoying my life as a teen but I think doing this may be worth it. It's just hard fo r me. Many activities and I am more on Facebook. I want to be active starting today.

My baggiest regret is i am just watching and not able to buy bitcoin still now.
Last week price was in 5500usd and i waited for more.
And today it hits 6300usd.
I hope a drop will come soon and i will have a entry point then.

Yes bitcoin is more worthy than just surfing on facebook.Learn to love bitcoin more than anything except from focusing on your studies.I myself has my biggest regret too the moment i heard bitcoin the first time before and i never give any chance to bitcoin.I never even attempt to search about bitcoin,i was always a facebook lover. But now i realized it was the biggest mistake i've made.If only i could turn back the time, maybe by now i am already a very progressive individual,a millionaire in our community.

When I first learned about it I dismissed it and then around 2 years later I got into it but didn't heavily invest in it. I would literally be worth millions today if I did....

Even I bought and earned bitcoin more than 10 but I have sold all the bitcoins via localbitcoins whenever I need. Now I am really worry about the bitcoin price and feeling that why I have sold the bitcoins which I have.
If I have the same bitcoins now, I could start any business with the same fund. I lost bitcoin hacked once I was using the blockchain wallet bro.

My regret is, why only now I am interested in Bitcoin, why yesterday just watch it. If I had merged from scratch, perhaps my knowledge of Bitcoin would have been better, so my performance in the Bitcoin industry would be maximal again.

Back in 2012 I think when the price was still not that high I had 10 btc and I sold it for like $20 at that time because I felt that it might not end well and will fluctuate. Now I am regretting it big time. :-[ :-[ :-[

Actually, I do not have a biggest regret. But if I had one, it would be not knowing bitcoin 5 years ago. If I knew it back then, I would be rich by now. So, I think that is my biggest regret. Added to that, I have small regrets based on spending my bitcoins or converting them into fiat.

The reason was that I had been in need of money. That is why I have to start saving bitcoin because I am sure its price will go up in a matter of time.

I think my biggest regret about bitcoin is that I started to know bitcoin last month only because I know bitcoin around a year ago by I completely ignored it. Why now only? If I only started to know about bitcoin a year ago, I know I have already earned a decent amount of bitcoin but I started earning only last month.

My biggest regret is trusting some exchanges like Cryptsy and Mintpal.

Those are my only losses - coins stolen by exchanges, and I still think the exchanges are bitcoin's greatest point of vulnerability. Apart from that I have no regrets!

i knew bitcoin in 2013 in front of my eyes price shot up from 200 dollars to 1000 dollars all in all in a matter of 3 months again after mtgox effort price came down to 600 dollars and then again 350 dollars in one year in 2014 again price started to increase in 2016 slowly from 450 dollars from then BTC price never look back till date

after seeing up and down i didnt hold btc it is my biggest regret

I think most of us regret because we did not trust in BTC enough in time when price was only 200$ or even less.I I bought some BTC at that time but shortly after that I sold for a small profit.Time is unfortunately can not return and now it's all behind me.Now I know that I will regret in future if every day not earn/collect some BTC in one way or another.Regret for the past sometimes can be a weight that pulls us back,we need to learn from the mistakes and move forward in the future.

Everybody who is interested in bitcoin had lived similar regrets like you had in past. I wish that I knew bitcoin much earlier. This is my biggest regret. Of course I lost much money because of bitcoin investments. But I don't call them as regret. I learned it with my mistakes that I made before. Sometimes it really made me upset but I continued to invest by bitcoin. I had never gave up.

I guess most of the people regret that they did not invest right away.

I am doing my research and i found one that i am really interested in, Propthereum.io. They are an asset backed coin and are expecting great coin appreciation in a short period of time.  Proceeds from their ICO will be used to buy A-grade property worldwide which will generate rental income. You might want to check it out.

The biggest regret for me when it comes to bitcoin is that i did not trust it on its early stage even i had a worth money to buy a lot of bitcoin at that time. If only I did try to some bitcoins and hold it up to know, I could be rich enough to pay may schools and other bills. I could have help my parents, bought everything I need and want. If only I knew some knowledge about investment at that time but there is no turning back now and we must move forward. Now that I have learn some about investment I am hoping that I could bring back that lost opportunity.

My biggest regret to Bitcoin is when I didn't listen to my old friend back in 2014 when the value is really low. Since I wasn't that much into internet that year and bitcoin is really new to my ears. I thought it was a "shady" pyramiding style marketing.  Until this year when bitcoin and Crypto itself broke the internet news due to high value. So yeah, now I am here to learn something, invested in Bitcoin and currently learning about ICO for possible investments

I think we are all the same when it comes to that having no faith in the early years. Because even still now, i dont just regret in btc but also other altcoins. Because i was so focused on btc i disregarded those other altcoin when they were just an ICO or token. Seeing the price now, they can become a good profit.

The same thing I feel like you. I know bitcoin in 2015, and my friend recommended that I buy bitcoin and keep it for the long term. But at that time I was still unsure of bitcoin and decided not to get involved in it. After entering the year 2017, regrets began to arise and make me like a fool (seeing the fantastic bitcoin prices). Hopefully there is still a chance for me at the end of this year to enjoy the benefits of bitcoin, because I've bought and saved a bit of bitcoin at the price of $ 5000 +

My biggest regrets in bitcoin is when i heard from a friend way back 2015 that he is earning income from something (I didn't know then that something is bitcoin), i don't believe in him because i thought it is imposible to earn money in that easy way. But now i realized that i was wrong then because it is really possible because I experiencing it now. I realized  now that it is bitcoin that he is referring to with that something before. If only i believe in him before maybe i'm earning more money now.

My biggest regret was not buying a lot more at $245 when I had the money to do it. I had my finger on the button, but I chickened out at the last moment. Things happens for a reason and you just have to live with those decisions. Would there have been bigger regrets if I bought more and the price tanked to $5?

We do not know what the future holds for us and for this reason we make the decisions that we do. <Good or Bad> Then we have to live with those decisions. ^smile^

I can say that most common regret on here is that we didnt even tried out to buy bitcoin when it was still cheap wayback on previous years. Those regrets cant really be avoided since we did already witness on how did bitcoin able to manage to increase its price in a matter of 8 years. We would really think that if we did able to come in earlier we are probably rich as of now.

I regret that I sold all my bitcoins when the price was around $2200/bitcoin few months ago. Now I have stop regretting and start buying bitcoins again and I will probably hold it for few years. In 2014 lots of my friends were buying it but I thought bitcoin is scam and I didn't trusted crypto currency back then.

Bitcoin will change the future of crypto currency and most people around the world starts using it for investment as it is currently providing huge return on investment.

I don't have much regret about bitcoin even if I converted everything I earn not realizing holding it for a long term period can give much higher returns it is because bitcoin is considered to be my additional source of income and whatever I earned from here is something I'm always thankful about. There's no point in regret and blaming oneself for not investing in bitcoin because we can always start now and make sure to have a higher return on bitcoin.

My recent regret is of converting my Bitcoin holdings to altcoins in September end and now incurring a huge loss in altcoins with bitcoin rallying up with high speed. Now I am of the feel I shouldn't have done that and would have escaped the 50% loss of my portfolio's BTC value. This price surge is expected till February next year because of series of events and positive news in bitcoin market. I won't touch altcoins for a while now.

One of the biggest regrets that I will ever have is that I had the opportunity to buy bitcoin back in 2012 when one of my buddies got them for around 25 usd a piece. I was naive and just used that money to buy a beer. I just wish I had bought a couple beers less and invested in bitcoin, then Si could be enjoying an infinite beer pipe connection to my home straight out of the brewery!! Hahaha! But alas! Life has other plans like being poor for me  :-\

My biggest regret is that I ignored it for too long. When I decided to buy it, I bought just a couple but then I sold them without making almost any profit, even tho it was more than a year after I bought. I think I never stop to properly understand the fundamentals.

The only thing that I regret and that is my biggest regret as well is the fact that I had the chance to start bitcoin early, however, I turned it down. So, I just started doing bitcoin. If only I had started early, I would have been rich by now.

Frankly, i don't think that even if you start early, you will gain the same amount of money as if you are selling for now. From the stary, you already turned bitcoin down and stopped following it.
And by that I can think that there are big chances for you to get lured by a "little" price pump at the early stage, maybe if you just bought bitcoin when the price still under $1. You will already sold it at the rate around $20.

Okay, first I'll start by asking this:

How do you know that low is low and high is high?

did you buy bitcoin when it was worth $400, how would you know that $400 was low and would it go up to $ 6000? you would not know. just like if you buy now 1 btc for  $6800 you will not know if it will fall or if in november of next year 1 btc will be  $20.000.

By this I mean the following, you should not complain because you did not buy early or complain because you lost money when invest in bitcoin, when you invest in something you should be aware that you can win or lose. that's all!

Anyone here have any regrets?

I have no regrets

My biggest regret for bitcoin is late joining and knowing the whereabouts of bitcoin that so many friends suggested to join but at that time I did not intend to join, besides buying bitcoins at expensive prices and when selling very low prices also because the urgent family needs to be willing or I do not sell at a low price despite loss :)

About this, I remember more when I sell bitcoin at a price that is still much lower than now, pretty much enough I sell bitcoin long before the current bitcoin price that keeps jumping higher. If only I kept holding all my bitcoin incomes that I get till now and not sell it at some times after I get enough amount to sell it.. and sell it right now all my bitcoin incomes so far, this is certainly will be more very very profitable.

I don't have much regret about bitcoin even if I converted everything I earn not realizing holding it for a long term period can give much higher returns it is because bitcoin is considered to be my additional source of income and whatever I earned from here is something I'm always thankful about. There's no point in regret and blaming oneself for not investing in bitcoin because we can always start now and make sure to have a higher return on bitcoin.

yeah you're right, there are a lot of people who are regret and sad because they did not buy bitcoin a few years ago when the price was low and then this time they regret again because it sells at a low price anyway, I think it's all their fault, you know that bitcoin will have a great future and why you sell too fast ? try not to regret the decision you've made buddy, now try to make a great plan because bitcoin will go up and you have to get ready with everything,,

My biggest regret is trusting some exchanges like Cryptsy and Mintpal.

Those are my only losses - coins stolen by exchanges, and I still think the exchanges are bitcoin's greatest point of vulnerability. Apart from that I have no regrets!
My biggest regret about bitcoin is that I join bitcoin late because last year my friends told me to join bitcoin but I don’t agree with him and now they are very rich just because of bitcoin and I have almost six months here to join but I’m doing a hard work here to be same like my friend so I think no need to be late join it fast.

I agree but my biggest regret on bitcoin is that somebody wants to sell 100 bitcoin for me at 50$ and someone confused me that is scam I can never forget the pain

By next time, when I have unused money, I will convert it to bitcoins so that it has a chance to get bigger.

Obviously it is a matter to regret upon. When China banned the Bitcoin exchanges suddenly it caused many people to think about selling their Bitcoin and to the surprise of every bit coin holder in the world the price fluctuated disorderly to the level of more than $7,000 in just a period of 2 months.

All you can do is to wait for the time so that prices would decrease to a preferential level hence you can, regain your lost currency.

My biggest regret was just as closely the same as yours. My friend introduced Bitcoin to me 3 years ago, I thought it was just a joke or something. Why would I believe that a Bitcoin could make you rich by just holding it long time. Today, that friend of mine is sitting with gold rolex, collection of Jordan's shoes, and a new car. While me im still working with a boss and I cant even buy what I want to buy. If I bought bitcoins before I would have been sitting the same situation as my friend. I may have missed that opportunity , but I still believe its never too late. I can still Invest wisely today.

I knew about Bitcoin 2 years ago when the price was $500. I wasn't really into it but my friend told me about it. My friend had to return me some money which he paid in bitcoin. It was just 0.03 BTC. My friend started selling his BTC for 20% less than the actual price. I was still skeptic about BTC  so I didn't buy from him. Today I sometimes think about it and regret but then again every experience is lesson. Money comes and goes.

I was afraid to try something new and my focus is just working and getting paid. May it wasn't the right time for me back then. Now, I am focusing on bitcoin and will invest as soon as I got paid on our signature campaign. Hopefully, everything will be fine and go as planned. Some says that it might be late to invest now but I hope it's not too late. There's nothing I should regret, I also started it all when 1 Bitcoin is $ 400 and just trading like everyone else. Buy when prices fall and sell when prices go up to make a profit.
In early 2016 I began to realize this would be high and beyond expectations, but I didn't hold it and keep trading as usual. Still I don't regret when bitcoin prices up to $ 7000 because I've got a profit before.
So relax, we can still fight with the latest prices.

My biggest regret when it comes to bitcoin is not selling at the peak of price because i always think that bitcoin will just continue to go up but i don't realized that i need to decide if i am going to sell or not because the market is not always going up because there will be times that it will go down. That is the biggest regret for me with bitcoin but as of now, i don't mind selling bitcoin anymore because i decided to just keep it for 3 more years so i will not waste any chances of high price.

I wasn't so in with it at that time because I was still finishing my studies. He was so adamant and he persuaded me to invest $100 per BTC but for me that was way too pricey. I don't like gambling, and we've missed a lot of opportunities to invest in bitcoin before. I think the last week is also a buying opportunity, and I think bitcoin will go up in 2018.

My biggest regret was just I did not pay attention on bitcoin when I first heard it and just ignore it thinking that it was just a scam.  No one can see the future so I never thought that the bitcoin price will get this high.  I’m thinking if I invested early I possibly have many bitcoins now.

2.Had a chance to invest in BTC while in low rates and I didn't do that.

Every time when I see BTC news those 2 incidents came to my mind.

I can relate in some way, my biggest regret in bitcoin is when I sold it when it is just around $5000 thinking that it would start to decline because I've seen the market graph. I thought for sure that it would reach maybe around $3500 so that I can buy-in again to gain some huge profits because we know that it's price will come back again higher than the previous one. Another is that, dedicating my time and effort to some altcoins who turned out to be useless when they ended. I've learned my lesson and now are being careful in choosing different investments so that I can't make the same mistakes again.

indeed most people will regretting because not bought bitcoin when the price was very low and i'm pretty sure people will being a millionaire when they bought bitcoin on 2009 and sold all of their bitcoin with the current price but we can't regretting our decission forever because there is possibility to bitcoin still reach the highest price in the future so rather than regret i think we have to buy and hold bitcoin for the future

my biggest regret in bitcoin is when I first knew about bitcoin around 2013. I regret not having interest on it at that time when bitcoin price is low. I just start noticing bitcoin again arount 2015 when its price is ranging from $1000-$2000.. I also regret when I sell my bitcoin when its price goes down last 2 months I think. I think that is the only thing that I regret about bitcoin

Everyone must have regrets, my greatest regret is the same as you. I used to have a lot of bitcoin and before entering in 2017 I've sold all the bitcoin I have, because there is a separate reason I also sell it at that time. After entering this year and seeing the price soar, my getting regrets, but that does not last long, as long as I can do my best to get the bitcoin again.

I agree but my biggest regret on bitcoin is that somebody wants to sell 100 bitcoin for me at 50$ and someone confused me that is scam I can never forget the pain

My biggest regret in bitcoin is that I didn't learn what it is all about and how its system works earlier. It was introduce to me since 2014 and if I just have enough knowledge about on what can bitcoin is capable of, maybe I started investing my time, money and effort ahead of time. But it's not too late, bitcoin can be greater, we have a lot of time now and we have a lot of opportunity to take.

That's sorrowful, it's truly hard to believe in it. This is the common thinking that users have. The people who believe in it try to invest and get the best profit through the same. My regret to bitcoin happened long back, the price was around $350 and I never thought it goes such a large value as well such an increased user network.

Right. And many people are right now feeling regret and disappointment due to the plunge btc and the crypto market is taking. Regret shouldn't have any place in trading since it will just drag your emotions along which, as we all know and probably have read in threads here, is a good recipe for losing money

I wrote an article defending it in the face of some critiques from some of my past professors that were not understanding the nature of the stuff, but even though I praised it, I didn't buy it then. I bought some and started using it as a currency only in the mid 2016.

But it's still not late for joining the bandwagon. There are still billions of people who still do not own bitcoin and I think eventually they will. So get in now and start using it as a currency.

this is the biggest regret that people feel in bitcoin in out there because if they invest their money in a few years ago, then they will make a big money today. but if they can think that today is not too late to buy bitcoin before the price increases higher, then they will not regret because they still have time to buy bitcoin at the low price. and they could have another investment that will bring a big profit in the future and they don't have to feel anything because right now, with the price is down, they can start collecting many of bitcoin.

Luckily, you bought bitcoin a few years ago. That means you still have a good eye for investment. Wish you a successful return *
It is never too late to start anything you love or want. Those who missed chance for buying bitcoin when its price was below 1000 dollar should not become sad because still the complete number of bitcoin is not mined. People even in developed states are not aware of bitcoin even when it is legal in their states. The point is that the ball is still in your court i.ee in the court of new investors. So the thing is that stay optimistic.

My biggest regret is i didnt start bitcoin early.though im hearing about it i dont have any idea about bitcoin until last year when everyone is talking about bitcoin and it boom.
Most of the bitcoin users have the same regret. They did not come to know about bitcoin earlier but one thing calms down them that it is still not known by everyone in the world. Moreover it is legal only in few states. So we should not be disheartened by joining the bitcoin community after couple of years of its creation. Bitcoin is at lower price at present, giving people a very good chance for ending their regrets.

Actually my biggest regret so far is that when I have get a red trust because of being a shitposer but glad to say that this red trust will remove because of making a quality post. So for me it is a lesson that I encounter in my life and that lesson will serve me to not do again that thing. In addition, I admit that I am wrong because I am the one who makes my regretion.

In 2010 I first time read about bitcoin in a scientific journal, the price of electricity was then very low in our country that time, if I then began to mine, I could make very good money now.

You know I don't have any regret when I have this, because a million of people in this world would be benefited the big profit when it is in the High price value, then right after price become slow down until now people are decided to regret and mad to Bitcoin eventually, I think that's not good, if we are a gambler person we just need to sacrifice  for any loses and wait for a good time to make a bitcoin become lively again.

My baggiest regret is i am just watching and not able to buy bitcoin still now.
Last week price was in 5500usd and i waited for more.
And today it hits 6300usd.
I hope a drop will come soon and i will have a entry point then.

The only thing i regret about cryptocurrency is that the price before is just 13$ dollar back in 2013 and i never invested a huge amount of money. Now bitcoins grow and already surpass 10k but still i am broke and not been able to save enough capital to invest because it was too expensive.

well as for me my biggest regret was when i was too scared on what bitcoin really is and just neglect it, just because of ignorance i missed the spot, and then later on i encountered bitcoin again, i laughed at it saying is this still alive, and then onwards i became curious to how did it really last long and it increases its value as time passes by, and then i feel so down when i realized what i really missed. so sad to recall.

Like everybody, the biggest regret of my life is that,i could not invest heavily when the price was really low,i was having my focus on my profession rather than spending time to other things and i missed my opportunity to get involved in a lucrative endeavor.

The most thing I regret about bitcoin is not listening to my friend who encourage me to invest on it. He explained everything but still, I didn't believed him because I thought it was scam and illegal but now, I witnessed how it works and have regrets.

For me, so far there have been nothing major than the fact that I didn't convert my bitcoins back to dollars and hold there. But its all good.

I wish I took more time for research because I bought. The "friend" who "helped" me buy kept some of my money.

When i was new in trading, used to sell all my coins at the lowest price when the value of my coins in the market is slowly decreasing, i am not well knowledgeable about the flow of the market and that is the reason i lose some of my profit for the mean time but then you will learn all the things as you experienced those bad times and avoid it in order to become a succesfful trader.

i think the biggest regret about not buying back then is the fact that probably nothing again in our lifetime will explode like bitcoin did,  amazing if you just bought in 2012 2013  and held which would be hard (but not so much if you joined forums like this that rammed HODL to death)  but  its not like double or triple ,  THIS WAS LIFE CHANGING MONEY many of us missed out.    I dont think the people who bought in 2017 are teh lucky ones, its the ones that bought in 2012 2013 and kept going.    Doubt this kind of thing will ever happen again in our life -  everyone knows the deal now and sees the potential which makes me think the next big will be back to 15k not 20k and each repeat will be lower 10k  etc,

Not buying enough bitcoins when it was $1000 each. I couldn't gotten so many bitcoins back then and even if the price is declining today, I can sell a lot and still be rich. I don't regret it that much since I can't realky tell the future. So I guess buying bitcoins now and making the best of what I can is the chance I need to get rich.
