Title: Will bitcointalk go public?
Post by: Lohoris on June 14, 2013, 09:51:04 AM
Since bitcointalk now accepts money for ads, and pays its admins and mods with those revenues, I wonder if it has any intention of issuing shares in any exchange, such as btct.co...

I mean, has it been discussed or considered?

I don't see it happening ever, what would the point be?

The forum isn't run for profit.

EDIT:
INB4 "YOU'RE A MOD AND YOU GET PAID, YOU'RE JUST A SHILL FOR THE FORUM"
I was a mod when it was free, getting some pay for doing the same thing is just a bonus.

For something to go public, a product or service needs to be offered. Nothing but discussion goes on here. That's like asking if I'm going to issue shares to my email account.

A traditional share arrangement isn't possible because the forum is not-for-profit. I could maybe see temporary bonds if the forum ever needed a lot of money quickly, but this is unlikely because there's already a lot of money in reserve.

Thank you for your response! (and for the good work)
