Title: What Are Your Greatest Fears As a Bitcoin Holder?
Post by: TechDirectory on November 02, 2017, 12:06:03 AM
"Hacking and scams remain the top risk for Bitcoin holders. Exchanges that shut down or passwords stolen from devices can easily wipe out a person’s bitcoins. Moreover, governments and central banks from various countries are starting to impose limitations on the use of cryptocurrencies.

Digital coins clearly threaten the political and economic establishment, and the regulatory environment can quickly change with the stroke of a legislative pen. Banks and governments typically use familiar language in the media, such as the need to protect consumers from new risks.

We are hearing familiar talking points from politicians who are getting pressured from the banking lobby. It seems that the root cause of the status quo’s actions in 2017 is to protect fiat currencies and traditional financial interests. Competing digital coins represent a potential end to the government’s monopoly of the monetary system." - Bitcoin.com

The only thing that scares me with my bitcoins is when it becomes impossible to cash out meanwhile nobody (merchants) accepts bitcoin as payment. But I doubt it would happen because the silk road will always be there to accept bitcoins.

My greatest fears in bitcoin is when the time comes that bitcoin will be at lowest value. If this happen, we all of us will suffer from dumping in it. But for now that was impossible to come because as we see.  Bitcoin is unstoppable from increasing its value

1 If the bitcoin becomes a bubble and burst. This will be linked to the flash crash but this time that looks impossible.
2 If the exchange site will be banned in the various country because of the exchange site as a centra key in the bitcoin or crypto.
3 Too many hackers, scammers in the crypto.

A lot of the things that makes me fear about the bitcoin itself. But the politic and regulatory seems to be a serious thing rather than other.

My biggest fear as a bitcoin holder is for it to become nuisance and it to be considered as a invaluable in the real market for conversion.

This kind of fear is for altcoins only and not applicable on bitcoin holders. There so many merchants that already accepting bitcoin as payment especially on Asian and EU country that widely supports bitcoin, So there is no need to fear that someday Bitcoin will be worthless because the price now is too high and far from being no value.

It is true that everyone fears hacking and deceit, but there are many more problems in terms of choosing altcoins that lead to big losses in choosing to play trading, and setting up fees or entering wallet addresses is even more frequent. only the hasty man who finally made it happen. and carelessness for those who hold the bitcoin itself ..

My greatest fear as a bitcoin holder is when the price drops down dip, we should not be carried away with  increasing price because there is going to be price pullback or price correction which may prompt holders dumping it invariably crash the price, I am not pessimistic about it.
More so bitcoin is prone to hackers and this is also a  disadvantage of holding bitcoin.

I am thinking of two major reasons:

1. Satoshi holds 1 million Bitcoins, if Satoshi unloaded or sold all of his bitcoin, the price will go down. Even the normal users are afraid when this happens.
2. If a genius hacker found a backdoor to the blockchain and try to do double spending which will again, make the bitcoin price plummet down, happened in the past but it is resolved, after that bitcoin has no backdoors but no one knows, it might happen  again.

everyone will be just like you, if you hold a lot of Bitcoin in your wallet, especially if you have a business using Bitcoin, maybe many will be encouraging you to know the weakness of your wallet, but if you strengthen the email by adding 2-step verification in email you i'm sure all will be fine.

The only fear that I have is that other people will give in to their fears and cash out their bitcoins when terrible news comes out. Government bans and top financial heads bashing bitcoin are the main culprit. Even the unbiased(?) opinions of top websites can bring bitcoin to a low.

My fear is missing out.

I missed out on the beginning.  When I got involved Bitcoin was roughly around 700 dollars a coin.  I worked hard and got up to a few Bitcoin.  Then I made the biggest mistake of my life, I bet all my Bitcoins that Hilary would win the election over Trump.  I bet 3 Bitcoins in order to try and gain about 2 more(so 5 total).  If I bet all 3 of my Bitcoins on Trump, I would have won around 12 Bitcoins.  Then Bitcoin decided to take off....Still bitter about it all!

For now, my biggest fear is that my country will eventually ban on bitcoin and its involvement. There will be nothing to cash-out my bitcoins then, I have been starting to look for alternatives on how to solve this problem when it happens. Hacking may happen, but you can still earn bitcoin, but if there is no place to cash out, my bitcoin will mean nothing.

Hacking is the one that I fear the most. Hacking your wallet can wipe out all of your efforts. It is so hard to earn bitcoin these days. Holding bitcoins is a long term investment. Besides hacking, there are still barriers that may affect the holding of bitcoin like bitcoin may lose its price on the way of holding bitcoin and bitcoin may be banned.

I might be in the minority, but I'm honestly not too concerned with hacks and scams. I feel like I am adequately protected with the resources at my disposal. I am also paranoid in nature so I'd like to think I'm slightly more resistant to scams in general.

I fear factors I cannot control much more. These include countries banning crypto, technical vulnerabilities, etc. These, I cannot protect myself against, and are therefore, much more of a threat.

My greatest fear as a bitcoin holder is if the whole cryptocurrency will be considered as scam and it will be of no value. If that happens all of our labor and time spent working to earn bitcoin and altcoins will be put to waste, for me that would be the saddest day for all crypto users.

What I'm afraid of is hacking my account. We know that the internet is not safe and we may be robbed so we should be especially careful with downloading applications in our computers. Because others have a virus that can know all of our information. So I'm taking care of everything I do and how much I can not download the applications I do not know.

When this happens we can't do anything about it. Bitcoin and the blockchain technology

not worth anything.

Well, I do have a fear also of banning bitcoin in the Philippines. If in case it will happen (i hope it won't) then a lot of Filipinos will find it hard to accept the situation since bitcoin is part of our daily lives. Most of bitcoin users only rely their income through bitcoin even if they have stable job.

Well my greatest fear as bitcoin holder is that loosing the wallet address due to system crash and missing the pass key along with all the saved bitcoins in the same wallet and realising that our bitcoins is worth millions and we cant help it due to loss of the key password and missing wallet id we have. There are even hackers who steal bitcoins from online wallet and take the bitcoin so is one of the reason in which online wallets are not safe.Another fear is that what if some day its value crash and everyone stop taking btc but i don't think such thing will happen as bitcoins are running smoothly and such things will never happen.

b.When the government will ban bitcoin in my country.

c. When bitcoin is not acceptable in any exchanges and have nowhere to cash it out.

My greatest fear as a bitcoin holder are the scams that are frequently happening right now. More and more of them are emerging just to get bitcoin from us, they do all sorts of things to make you believe that they are legit and will deliver positive results from your investments. Only to know that at some point in time they will suddenly disappear and you will be left with nothing and can't really do anything to make them pay for what they did.

Fear can only harm you, if you do not manage it correctly. If you for example invested $10 000 and you traded by buying low and selling high and you kept the profits from these trades until you re-cooped your $10 000, then you have no risk at all. If anything happens, you reached your ROI and whatever happens after that is pure profits with zero risk.

Work hard to cover your initial investment and be risk free. ^smile^

I fear that bitcoin will just disappear out of nowhere. Like bitcoin will be banned and our savings will only be removed just like that because it's just a digital cryptocurrency.
Although, I know that its impossible to happen with this generation. But still, we may never know how long digital currency will last.

My greatest fear would be none--for I know that bitcoin will continue to thrive for it is just starting if ever it will shy away from the limelight surely there will be a new coin that it will take its reign. I can clearly see the future and it is bright due to bitcoin, we just need to believe and trust the system, but not to the point of staking your future to it, all we need is balance. Early adopters are happy, so must take an example to their success.

I don't fear that the value of bitcoin may drop so low because I am sure if that happen it will pump again after few days or weeks, what I am worried about holding my bitcoin in a long run is that developers of bitcoin wallet may tempt to hacked the account of most holder if the value of bitcoin increases very high and also I am afraid that if not the developer another people were able to get our account and also our bitcoin.

Hahahaha - all four are baseless heeheheehee thank you for tickling my funny bone.
All four addressed: Governments powerless to control bitcoin, bitcoin for almost a decade always had exchange value globally, bitcoins scarcity and resilience against THOUSANDS of other cryptos underlines the point you will not see a perpetuous fall of Bitcoin, and wallets are designed pretty safely but must always beware of operator error.

Things to be more feaful about is fiat-debt-slavery system:
Central banks control and have a MONOPOLY on credit/currency issuance in each country.

Additionally Central banks control the media in every region. Thus will TRY to influence opinion on things like bitcoin.

They will not allow competition and they've even banned bitcoin worldwide since 2013 training tellers to block/stop transactions if "bitcoin" is mentioned.

Four full years and the powerful central banks have been rendered POWERLESS TO BITCOIN'S decentralized strength.
Bitcoin keeps growing and growing in every country.

The people around the world are becoming too smart in seeing through the fiat currency schemes.

And it has become clear that...
Bitcoin CANNOT be controlled.

Bitcoin cannot be made legal. Governments may still attempt to do so. They can never have such domination on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin cannot be made illegal. Governments may still attempt to do so.

Bitcoin is GLOBALLY held and sought after by people in almost every country - see global trade data by country or see this list:

Bitcoin has the highest value because of the totality of what it is - if it lacked the features of what it is, then there would be no value.

If it can be shutdown, and have assets frozen by a bank or government, there would be no value
If it wasn't secure, there would be no value.
If it wasn't immutable, there would be no value.
If it wasn't globally distributed, there would be no value.
If it wasn't so strong, open-source decentralized and unstoppable, there would be no value.
If it wasn't so scarce, there would be no value.
If it was easy to spam transactions, there would be no value
If it didn't have the history of 8+ years (and still no hacker can exploit bitcoin blockchain), there would be no value
If it was exactly like fiat and only did transactions, there would be no value.

Bitcoin has all these together to make the most value and increasing more than any other financial-asset option coming from the fiat central-banking debt-system.

Though it is still very early adoption not even 1% adopted yet (most people everywhere don't know what it is)...
Bitcoin has freed, continuing to free, and tomorrow will still free many people globally from the centrally controlled debt-based fiat system that confiscates your wealth with inflation and tax. Bitcoin is a TRUE savings vehicle. Buying Real Estate, Hospital healthcare, Global traveling, College Education gets cheaper as you hold Bitcoin.

Central banks already control and manipulate Stocks, Real Estate, Gold, Interest Rates. Central banks will never have such domination on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin reached escape velocity 4-years ago in 2013 which means it cannot be stopped - cannot make it illegal or legal - governments/banks do not matter.

On the opposite end of the spectrum the global fiat (US Dollars, Indian Rupees, Chinese Yuan, etc) bubble system broke a couple of decades ago.

Fiat around the world is forced to inflate issuance as its heavily infested, burdened and broken with:
-regulatory burden on fiat banks & system (incredibly costly)
-unemployment & other welfare costs
-inflating fiat to keep stock market rising and to keep house-prices from collapsing
-financing conflicts, bombs, and "aid"
-insurance fraud
-false claims and insurance loss-events
-stabilize regions after natural disasters
-keeping monopolies with internet access centralized and search engine crawlers centralized
-money laundering
-chargebacks
-frivolous legal costs (lawsuits bogging the system down)
-state-sponsored corruption and unofficial corruption (governments and gangs, banks and conartists)
-retirement obligations (debasement in value to keep up with payments from government or other retirement-obligations)
-fake credit (goods being transacted with credit-loss, replaced by inflation of monetary base rather than bringing perpetrators & source to justice)
-using enforcement labor to freeze accounts and assets and take away your money
-costs of auditors and budgetors and accountants to governments and businesses

Bitcoin, systemically, is free from these burdens.

Be wary of things outside of bitcoin especially when other things start throwing around the word 'blockchain'.
A non-decentralized "Blockchain" is a private database....Private databases has virtually no value!

BLOCKCHAIN without bitcoin = SCAMCHAINS, useless unsecure private databases
BLOCKCHAINS without bitcoin ARE SIMPLY PRIVATE DATABASES that every small business has even a coffee shop = NO VALUE, its like fiat currency, small minimal value!

BITCOIN BLOCKHAIN = SECURE IMMUTABLE VALUABLE OPEN-SOURCE DECENTRALIZED FAIR (scarce bitcoin supply). Globally people poured over $80Billion (USD) equivelent value into bitcoin and this will increase with time.

Actually, what you wrote above has answered your question.

But okay, I'm one of those who traded bitcoin, and the thing I'm most afraid is a disaster that will turn off all the electricity, that means no internet! and it can happen anytime. Another scary thing is the richest man who buys all the bitcoins and never sells them! Looks like he locked Bitcoin in Davy Jones's locker.

Despite of hackers and spammers the another fear of holfing bitcoins is the price drop. Even the price drop will not affect a lot in the price of bitcoins but still it remains a fear in our mind about bitcoins. Bitcoins will grow some or the other day and we can relia on bitcoins but.

What are the top risks for Bitcoin holders?

I used to fear Big Blockers, but now there is BCH and they have mostly stopped trying to interfere with Bitcoin.

Probably now the danger comes from people who want to increase the 21M limit or make transactions more traceable for the authorities.

I think my biggest fear is that there is always the possibility that somebody may steal my BTC no matter how much taking care of security.Hackers have new methods each day and we must always be a step ahead of them.

There is also fear that that something very bad will happen and that price fall very low,but that's always a risk with BTC.One day you wake up and see price of 7000$,next day it may be 10000$ or 1000$.I think the greatest danger comes from the governments, they will try in every possible way to control BTC,and I think they have mechanisms to create great problems for us if they wish.

The only thing that I fear is to get hacked or if bitcoin will end too soon. I hope that bitcoin can last for a long time, so that I can gain more profit and store more bitcoin on my wallet. I'm still learning about bitcoin, so I hope that it can last long or forever.

3. BTC will go to zero and be worthless (getting killed by a asteroid has a bigger chance than this I think )

My greatest fear is waking up one day to realise that what we have come to believe concerning bitcoin is a myth and not anything close to reality and giving victory to the people waiting for the failure of bitcoin over the years. It will be a very difficult experience in which I must admit, when I wake up every morning and want to check whats going on in the cypto world, the fear just keep repeating itself.

I think everyone's greatest fear is that or you get hacked and lose all your bitcoins. Or that the bitcoin will be worthless and you will lose all your money. Because bitcoin is a unstable currency so it is possible to go down very hard 1 day.

Yes, holding a large amount of bitcoin can cause fear. Of course all of the bitcoin holders are scared of getting their bitcoin stolen. But their identity is more important. Identity thefts are a large threat ro bitcoin users. They can get their belongings or important details in life get stolen. They can get their bank accounts and wallet addresses which is really scary. The price fluctuation is not a thing to be scared about because the price of bitcoin will still rise and that is a good sign for bitcoin holders.

My greatest fear would be for bitcoin to become worthless. All of us are holding it because of its high value and the possibility of it to be higher in the future but then maybe a fortuitous event would make its value lesser and eventually be worthless. A sudden block of our country to the crypto sites is my fear as well and the banning of cryptocurrency in general because this would also mean that my coin would be worthless if I can't access it or even cash it out. I am still pretty confident right now that it is unlikely to happen in our country because our government has a positive view of bitcoin and just issued a warning to the people to be vigilant but they did not state directly that we aren't allowed to transact it.

As for the price of bitcoin to fall bellow $3000/BTC is sees it as impossible, because bitcoin awareness is getting viral and more people are investing which will keep the price to keep go up.

well as a bitcoin holder the greatest fear in when the bitcoin lose its value or maybe the price  will going to 0 and the bitcoin will shutdown and cant recover.because that was really a verry terefying moment .i believe if the bitcoin has its price  even a small amount in can rise high that is why theres nothing to be fair .but its price  will going to shutdown that was really fear.

My greatest fear about holding bitcoins is that when time comes that its value will become so much expensive and that I cannot cash out my earnings and developers of online wallets hacked my account. I'm afraid that because of high appreciation of bitcoin people will do everything even illegal things just to earn bitcoin and the market of bitcoin will crashed and devastated.

What are the top risks for Bitcoin holders?

The dropping of the price is quite risky also but just minimal since dropping price signifies high supply vs. the demand. So it gives a chance to buy more bitcoin in that case.
Another is the possible government regulations thay may hamper the processes or bitcoin usage.
As stated above the hacking of accounts. We know that cryptocurrencies are manipulated by humans then its possible that they may also hack accounts.
And lastly, I guess the volume of people using it is unstoppable. Just wondering if in the future the number of millionaires or billionaires will arise. The world better prepare.

I worry about security, security is my main concern when I store bitcoin. There are many cases of bitcoin lost due to the security problems. The second thing is that I am affraid that bitcoin holders will be put in jail by government. Bitcoin holders are treated as criminals. That is what' am affraid. if the government shut exchangers, I am still able to seek other ways to turn bitcoin into cash but when govt treats bitcoin holders as criminals, that's the biggest problem.

mostly indeed people would fear their investment went wrong into a huge loss instead get a lot of profit , buy 1 bitcoin at $7,200 sell it at $6,900 , buy again at $7,000 sell it at $6,500 and so on until your whole bankroll gone. but don't worry when that moment happened , you just need to be more patient . keep in mind you should put the money in bitcoin that you can really afford it considering bitcoin have a high risk.

For now bitcoin holders would be very happy with the rapid growth in price due to the coming event but a certain price dump or fluctuation would definitely happen after that. People will be left having a dilemma on holding or sell it already and buy once again when the price is low. But since no-one know what will after that event then they will not know when to sell and left being surprise of a certain dump or something.
For me, the greatest fear of every bitcoin holders is they're feelings.

I don't worry much about scams, government, or banks. i'm only worried about hacking bitcoin wallets.
As we all know there is no online service that's 100% safe from online hacking whether sabotage or external hackers.
Most of the hacking happens because of the human mistakes not the computers/servers or anything like that, it happens because of the human factor.
There are a lot of good firewalls and security parameters to stop the hackers from outside, but what about internal staffs - greediness might some time be the cause.

Yeah this is the most people's problem who using bitcoins because we have that fear of our bitcoin will be hacked.Bitcoins have no customer service which is need to be done by the bitcoin team soon.Bitcoin offers no such protection: transactions are irreversible, so the buyer must trust the seller to deliver. Many Bitcoin users say that this is a feature, not a weakness, and simply requires the buyer to do their due diligence before sending a seller their money. Plus, irreversible transactions protect sellers from fraudulent chargebacks.

Yes, that was right. Many people afraid of that circumstances. Because they are saying many hackers in this cruel world and at same time scammers. They are the smart people when we are talking about the technology. All you need to do is do not put all your bitcoin into your wallet because you don't know how secured is that. As a Bitcoin holder, my fear is that I wont be able to cash it out to my local currency. The options in my country is very limited and those available now are taking advantage of that with absurd fees. Second would be hackers. Because it is digital, it is very prone to that. Lastly, I am most afraid of the thought that one day it won't have any value. Similar to what happend to the Tulip Mania.

In any investment, we all have our fears. But we take risks because that's what investing is all about. It's up to you on how much risk you can take and how you manage it.  8) 8) 8)

  • the value of BTC :- one of the biggest fear of BTC holders is that the value is very high and it should not just burst like a balloon.
  • hackers:- people are  obviously scared to lose their earnings to hackers

My biggest fear at the moment is if quantum computing becomes mainstream and hacking the network becomes ordinary.
Am sure then, bitcoin can become worthless as investors shall fear bitcoin.

You can abandon those fears. It will take many years before quantum computers become widely available. By that time bitcoin will be either long gone or upgraded to withstand quantum decryption. If we are to become rich thanks to it we will before quantum computing becomes a real thing. Don't forget that BTC is a software and as that it's upgradable.

Yes, I have a fear of hacking bitcoin, the widespread loss of the Internet or the sudden drop in bitcoin due to some incredible event or an accident, but it's hard to believe in the possibility of this. I prefer not to think about it, but just watch the growth of the bitcoin price.

My greatest fear would be for bitcoin to become worthless. All of us are holding it because of its high value and the possibility of it to be higher in the future but then maybe a fortuitous event would make its value lesser and eventually be worthless.

My greatest fear as a bitcoin holder is all of my bitcoins were gone and stolen by a mere hacker i know some of you got hacked by ten or sometimes a 100 bitcoins that you bitcoin for a thousand dollars although we always secure our bitcoin wallets but sometimes we neglected those nest is although this is not my greatest fear as a holder is btc2x hard fork why? because unlike bitcoin cash this one is different they don't have replay protection so, both chains will vulnerable to replay attacks which could result to loss of funds as a holder i wouldn't let my money lost no one does that.

My greatest fear as a Bitcoin holder is that the price go down and stuck for some long time in low price. This will force us to wait more and will create more panic about Bitcoin itself. But its hard to happen nowadays because BTC price is rising highly nowadays.

I have two fears as a bitcoin holder but i fear security is the most.

1. Government Regulations: I am worried how regulations can change the continued exponential growth of bitcoin. I worry govt's see it as cannibalizing their central bank influence which can result in regulatory challenges.
2. Security: The current landscape is growing so quickly that security is becoming a challenge. With more options available to transact BTC and examples of hacks make me concerned.

My greatest fear is what happened in China and people are banned from using Bitcoin, happens in my country and I am not able to trade Bitcoin with fiat.

That's not scary at all! Since foreign currency exchanges are still a thing and you can wire BTC all around  the world without problems you are by no means bound to be using local exchanges or local fiat currency to exchange directly. I have accounts on many foreign crypto exchanges and I don't care about my government's actions.

I believed that the biggest fear of a bitcoin holder like me is to lose its value. I believed most of us has the same fear. Bitcoin is risky. We all knew that. We will never know when its price get high or when it lose. We are just trying our luck because we know and we believe tgat by investing in bitcoin we can have a better future.
Yes you are right as a bitcoin holder I myself have this fear of losing value. Bitcoins in today's market are the most highly valued cryptocurrency. But there are equal possibilities of it losing the market price in the upcoming few years due to various reasons such as involvement of government.

Hence it could be declared as a risky thing and it is synonymous to trying our luck with the positive Vibes to get the best results possible.

My fear is that it will be destroyed from within by the very people who are controlling it, ie the fork drama. With so many millennials involved, there are bound to be problems, as they have been conditioned to inject Facebook-like drama into every aspect of their lives. I was listening to a podcast about the upcoming fork, and two 30 yr olds were arguing, sounded like an episode of the Kardashians.... “ok, sooooo, I know right!!!!”. I thought, bitcoin is doomed.

The only common fear as Bitcoin holder or investor is when Bitcoin will have no value at all. You're investing a lot of money from the start and ends up nothing. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are intangible and stored into intangible wallets so the volatility is very high. If happens to be hackers can penetrate all ledgers in the world at once then Bitcoin will be doomed.

I agree with one of the previous comments, selling too early is the biggest fear, it’s the what could of been that will haunt you.

Mr. Satoshi Nakamoto said to his white paper that Bitcoin will have a value of $100k as it's peak so when you sell it when the value is low the you'll be hurt because you're giving up the only thing that could make you rich in the future.
Bitcoin volatility is very high but people are still using it so there's no need to worry about Bitcoin price will drop continuously.

I agree with what you have pointed out earlier regarding hacking and scams. Indeed, these, to me, remain to be the top two greatest fears I have as a Bitcoin holder. Imagine ever waking up one day knowing that you can no longer access your account because it has been hacked by someone else? With that, you lose whatever Bitcoins you have because your Bitcoin wallet has been zeroed. Perhaps, as we all know, we invest at our own risks because there are no rules and regulations as regards our Bitcoins.

If you are going to convert your Bitcoin into dollar for you to cash it out , one problem you may experience is finding a suitable exchanger and wallet for you to have a transactions for it. But it is easy if you are going to learn how to trade for you to know each steps of transaction for you to calculate at the same take your profit and earning every time you mange to deal with your target price and perspective value to transaction on.

The only thing that fears me in the world related to my bitcoins, is that there is a thunder going by my house and that my computer gets destroyed. The part of the bitcoins which I keep in a wallet would be lost, and I would obviously be really sad of this...
No serious hodler will ever store his coins on his PC or laptop. You should use a hardware wallet, or at least find a way to engrave your private keys on something that's durable under various circumstances.

I have a hardware wallet where I store my coins in, and the seeds are stored in various places in my house in either paper form, or engraved in a silver bar. In this case the seeds are the most important thing.

If a hardware wallets corrupts, or just doesn't work anymore for whatever reason, you can always purchase yourself a new one, and recover everything with the seeds you have properly stored.

As a bitcoin holder and frequent user of wallets i always fear that a virus gets into my pc thus divulging my passwords and emails to whoever who owns the control of that virus , so i never try to download from internet or access any shady websites with my pc fearing that my money earned with a lot of hard work goes in a blink of an eye . Everyone who got a wallet should secure it as much as possible and setup 2 steps authentication methods and recovery phrases to ensure that he'll never loose his money .

My greatest fears in bitcoin is when the time comes that bitcoin will be at lowest value. If this happen, we all of us will suffer from dumping in it. But for now that was impossible to come because as we see.  Bitcoin is unstoppable from increasing its value
The greatest fear a bitcoin user will fear is when the price will drop so low and all of the bitcoin will be useless. I mean especially when a person has decided to invest big amount onto it. It will be depressing if time will come that bitcoin will drop and soon to end. And also if users will lost some of the bitcoin that has been holding for a long time expecting for it to earn big.

I am not afraid about government banning or anything. But only the scalability issues with Bitcoin. The transaction fees are very high and people might start looking for alternatives with way lesser fees and instant confirmation. I guess that was what Segwit2X was aiming for. If these problems are resolves than Bitcoin will go to the moon!
I am not apprehensive about government restricting or anything. In any case, just the adaptability issues with Bitcoin. The exchange expenses are high and individuals may begin searching for choices with way lesser charges and moment affirmation. I figure that was what Segwit2X was going for
This exactly what I am fear most about since bitcoin price is insanely increasing nowadays transaction fees goes higher and higher I am afraid that the community will start to leave bitcoin and less people can afford a single transaction.

My biggest fear is that if the government of my country becomes critical of bitcoin and not a visionary like other government. This will lead to banning or bitcoin will become illegal in my country. Making the local butcoin community to become underground, which is very threatening to ordinary investors and my country will be left behind in terms of developing the cryptocurrency.

Of course the fear of others who invest in bitcoin are losing its price, as well as in the real market investors their are always on track to keep their investments monitored.
The biggest fear of a bitcoin user is not different from each other. Ofcourse one of the most biggest fear is to lose the bitcoin itself. Also the goverment will try to block and will do everything to  make transactions of bitcoin not work. Also the fear that wallets will be hack and lose again bitcoin. The main fear is to really lose bitcoin.

Actually I always worry whenever I think that bitcoin will be regulated by the government and be banned by any of them. It is very hard to invest in something that they consider illegal. Beimg anonymous in transaction is an edge given by bitcoin but at the same time it is used in black market to do such illegal things. Money laundering is the authorities’ top concern for this. It doesnt scare me if it crash or dip deeply, I will see at it as a great opportunity to buy because I believe that it will be back again to where it is now. I am just a bit worried if a big news will come out something like someone breached the security features of bitcoin or Satoshi Nakamoto dump all his bitcoin  ;D .

The fear of loosing money is always there for any investor, entry to any investment is the most important thing and if you mess that up then everything goes awry ,with the rally we had in bitcoin,i always had suspicion whether to enter when the price touched an ATH fearing of a correction and that is the only fear i have .

But i think this is impossible to happen because bitcoin will continue to rise and will be legalized to all countries. For now the little fear to happen is the wallet to be hacked by some people with bad intention so better secure our wallet.

Price fall won't happen in a short, everything happening with bitcoin and other digital currencies is all about changes with regards to time which provides the complication. No one knows about the growth or fall next minute. Everything is happening depending upon trust. Hacking too is a big issue, which can cause a great loss due to the lack of security.

One of my greatest fears as a bitcoin holder are the banks behind the wallets that people put their coins in and thinking they are storing their money in a perfectly safe place . I'm always fearing that the owners suddenly steal their  client's money or lock their accounts for unclear reasons and pretend they got hacked or something . That's why i always store my coins in different wallets and always split them in chunks so even if some company suddenly gets shut downed , i won't loose everything .

What are the top risks for Bitcoin holders?

1. Governments will always rise up to protect against what they have little or no control over. Governments are a great threat to cryptocurrencies. There are 3 options for them. 1. Ban it 2. Regulate it. 3. Float a competing cryptocurrency which provides more flexibility than the current slew of cryptos we have.

2. The unforseen. Cryptos rely on technology, that itself may pose a danger. Unforseen issues may lead to unforeseen problems.

3. Disruption: Some technologies which was disruptive have themselves become obsolete.
4. There are governments who if they want to have the wherewithal to crash some cryptos network.
5. Users sentiments: users of cryptos may become disenchanted with the entire technology as more newer and better technology emerges, especially ones that are dependent on mobile phones, which remains a pervasive network.

On the whole, I believe the world will move towards the adoption of one singular crypto-currency, if in doubt read your bible, it's all there in Revelation. So cryptos will not die it will only become stronger and gain a worldwide adoption.

The biggest fear now is regulation. It is impossible to ban bitcoin per se but legislators can close the exchanges to convert BTC in FIAT (like china did recently)

I still think China is an isolated case (lot of successful firms are banned like google and facebook) and it will regulate the exchanges in the future but it is by far the biggest threat to bitcoin/cryptocurrencies adoption...

Cashing out too late before everything goes downhill. If bitcoin collapses due to e.g. a security flaw, then it will be a race to the floor.

What I fear as Bitcoin holders is if various countries agree to limit or  banned bitcoin transaction. Of course I'm starting to trouble in buying or selling stock bitcoins that I have. If this happens, when the world's banks with the government make regulations to limit the bitcoins will result in many exchanges difficulties in serving bitcoins holders to make trades and transactions.

As mentioned surely some sort of issue will arise, and upon the same governments of respective country regulate bitcoin upon the usage as well it's negative usage. The greatest one is the growth or the dump happening without any form of indication which looks like an manipulated growth.

My greatest fear as bitcoin holder is the fact that technology  nowadays is so advanced that somebody might hacked my account even though I have secured it with strong password. As digital world evolves and cryptocurrency became popular, we cannot deny the fact that people with good IT skills & are dirty minded that wants easy money are now on the process of figuring out as to how to access the users wallets.

The greatest fear of any bitcoin holder has to be that BTC will be worth $0 tomorrow. I dont care who you are but that has to be your #1 fear. Now albiet it is an irrational fear and you can essentially disregard it moving forward.

A rational fear to have however is that of getting robbed and scammed this can happen to anybody on any given day and that is why I go to great lengths to protect my coins.

If the crypto currency will continue to integrate into the economy of most countries and crypto-currency payments will become commonplace, then we will become very dependent on the availability of appropriate technologies. This means that any global technogenic catastrophe can completely paralyze financial calculations in case of disappearance even for a short time of the Internet. In a narrow sense, this will be a constant fear for some reason to lose access to its crypto-currency purses.

When something really bad happen like a big exchange scam, a country banned bitcoin or a big bad news about bitcoin, because when it happened the price of bitcoin will falling so hard for sure. My fear as a Bitcoin holder is:

1. My fear of hackers who can access my account will be lost because it can be successfully stolen easily by hackers.

2. My biggest fear as a Bitcoin holder is to see the price of Bitcoin will reach below the price of 2,000 USD, because this is a big loss to me.
Don’t get your fears control your mind. Ups and downs are part of trading and when you see prices coming down then you must not lose your heart. Rather keep yourself determined and stiff because after every little downfall there is a huge jump of it. And as far as hackers are concerned, you must use some auntenthic and secured wallet so that this fear can be minimized.

Aside from getting hacked, I think one of my biggest fear as a Bitcoin holder is if the time comes that the value of Bitcoin is so low that it can be considered as something worthless after investing so much of your money and holding on to it for a long time (probably years and years of keeping it safe and unused in your wallet). This may be far from happening since Bitcoin is gaining its momentum as of the moment, but its unpredictability, volatility, and the establishment of various new innovative technological platforms can truly overcome the value Bitcoin has gained throughout the years. It would be devastating to lose something that you have took care of and kept safe for a long time.

2 If the exchange site will be banned in the various country because of the exchange site as a centra key in the bitcoin or crypto.

Another one would be if there'd be no internet access, and it is possible especially with that of North Korea if my country would be affected, the biggest question I had in mind when that news broke out was that how am I going to access my accounts without internet and what would happen in the crypto world as well?

As a bitcoin holder, there are two big factors that really scare me and that are scammers / scam and hackers/ hacking. Anything can happen if we dont take extra care with our bitcoin. Another thing that i fear as a bitcoin holder is that it might have serious problem like having trouble in cashing out. Also my fear is that this bitcoin will be shutdown and we bitcoiners dont want that to happen right? So let us just be extra alert and aware so that we can overcome this fears

We all know that even bitcoin has the secured transactions, I kept worrying because maybe one day all my hardworks to keep my bitcoin will all be gone because of scammers and any people who planned to pull down the bitcoin. Also im afraid that the government will start to banned bitcoin in different countries.

That is from nearly everyone, because no one wants to lose his key or to be hacked by hackers. You have worked very hard for those coins so it would be very sad to lose them all.

One of my fear is also that bitcoin will lose all of his value in one day.

What I fear is that most countries in the world unite to suppress bitcoin, and if that happens, bitcoin will be destroyed. But I do not believe that one country will truly unite other countries. But the influence of hackers on bitcoin is far too small for national power.

But as human i have feel worry the bitcoin in the future will be losing the values and there are no people who invest their money in bitcoin and i am worry if bitcoin be banned by my government, it will makes me come back to traditional investment to stocks markets and i don't like it because i can take full control of my investment.

I doesn't have the fear that they shut down, because this has got importance to go mainstream news on several new portals. When it comes to security, it has got good features but hackers even overcome through several techniques and scams with the name of bitcoin keeps on increasing. We're supposed to segregate and invest on the right one.

That is the main thing that bitcoin users could be afraid for if they are currently holding bitcoin. It is a big fact that bitcoin experience so much development and growth in regards to its price and value on the market, yet this is not enough for the high security it needed for it to be secure enough for many transaction users could have. I think the development of bitcoin also depends on us because if we will continue to be a part of bitcoin and support t until it reaches its  security development and changes on transaction wise , it could also be a part of our daily means of transaction for a better form of investments and tradings.

As a coin holder these maybe are my greatest fears:

1. Government overtaking and imposing regulations and completely banning the cryptocurrency.
2. Those whales who are controlling well enough to extremely bring a coin at its highest to its deepest position.
3. Hackers and Scammers are the nightmare of all coin believers.Too sad its their way of filling their bags up.

Well, we all know this is risky and we all decided to take it. So, brace yourself and let us see how far this may take us.

Yes, I agree. Once the coins are owned by the corporations and the governments, the coins will seize to be what they were supposed to be: an unregulated currency. Its the idea behind bitcoin that makes it what it is. It is not utility, fashion nor a measure of wealth. You can't show off your bitcoins...yet but I'm sure they will think of something that will announce to the world how much bitcoin one has. The centralization and the regulation of bitcoin will make them tulips for the price will go too high to be of use. Everyone is fighting right now to make the price higher and higher, but what is the point? Will the beliefs of the creator carry on to all those that trade and hodl the coin? I think not.

I fear the coins are becoming centralized and they will be regulated. I fear they will represent all that they were supposed to oppose.

After the Cryptopocalyse, we'll see who the true believers are.

If bitcoin will decrease in $3,000 below, i guess it's a great a news from the buyers like me because that is the time to have a better profits to get, because i believe in bitcoin  whenever  how many times bitcoin price drops it will always rise and rise again because  that's  the characteristics  of bitcoin. All you have to do is wait for the timing, when that speculation to be happened again that bitcoin will fall back into $3,000 below.

If not I don't have any fear in bitcoin because the future of bitcoin is so promising and the market will sky rocket in 2018, and it will be very hard for any government to interfere in bitcoin because of bitcoin decentralized natour making it hard for any one to subject bitcoin under any authority or central bank law.

Fears is always disturb to that person who have bought bitcoin at high price and take a tense to go fall and get the loss. But the long time investor always take a risk and do not panic in any type of price dropping and those person is always get huge profit. There is one formula for big investor that is "more risk more profit".

Everyone of us who uses bitcoin knows the risk of using it. Bitcoin is volatile and we never know when its price will rise or fall. That's what makes my greatest fear about bitcoin and we will never know what will happen for the next few days, weeks, months or years; we won't know if something may affect bitcoin and that may cause some problems and conflicts and it will fall to bitcoin's failure. What makes me fear more is that if I had great amount of bitcoin and then bitcoin will suddenly shutdown or fall back to low prices. Of course that's a real disappointment as a bitcoin holder and user.

Digital coins clearly threaten the political and economic establishment, and the regulatory environment can quickly change with the stroke of a legislative pen. Banks and governments typically use familiar language in the media, such as the need to protect consumers from new risks.

The value of bitcoin today continues to rise so high for the past few years and if I decided to invest my money in bitcoin just now, I'll spend a big amount of money for just one btc and that's my greatest fear if bitcoin value drops and never recover from that.Volatility still one of the main factors of every investor's fear. Holding bitcoin for a long time is like a gamble, and it seems the bitcoin value now is stable and I would prefer to gamble in this coin.

Bitcoins are digital money, exist and operate thanks to the internet. So for a bitcoin boss, what they are most afraid of is hackers and scammers. Not so, some people are afraid of their government forbid bitcoin, they will not be able to trade and invest bitcoin anymore.

Some are feared that bitcoin could not male it to the future and just sells out their holdings. The continuous downfall of price is the most feared scenario for bitcoin holders.

My fear is bitcoins might crash all of a sudden. Bitcoins are described as bubbles so when the price goes so big and then it suddenly pops, we're left with virtually nothing. All we have are digital coins that have no value. Another fear of mine is being keft out of all the opportunities with bitcoins.

The only thing that scares me with my bitcoins is when it becomes impossible to cash out meanwhile nobody (merchants) accepts bitcoin as payment. But I doubt it would happen because the silk road will always be there to accept bitcoins.

I have the same thought. There is no other fear that will make bitcoiners fear so much about bitcoin.
So when nobody accept bitcoin mean the value is zero.
Look at the recent price i think not possible it will happen.

My greatest fear is when my account is being hacked and all of my bitcoins get robbed. But i think it depends on how I handle my coins. And also I am really afraid that bitcoin might face out in the community or will be banned in my country, all of my efforts, hardwork, patience and perseverance will be wasted if it will happen. All the coins i have and will be invested will be dumped, that's the worst scenario. That is why everytime I receive tokens or coins, I immediately trade it but of course i'm still waiting for the right time to trade it.

But then again, who would predicy how much of a "good investment" are bitcoins, right? Maybe anhtime it could crash. Maybe tomorrow it might reach  $20k all of a sudden.

My biggest fear ever since 2014 (when I first started collecting coins) is that someone would hack into my wallet and steal my coins. That was why I was seriously considering purchasing a hardware wallet. But then, it is also not 100% safe, and it exposes me to additional risks as well. If we store our coins in a hardware wallet, then they can be confiscated by the authorities.

All you can do on a practical level is separating credentials to access funds onto several devices. 2FA, these second factor authorisations.
And spread funds across several places.

The theoretical level is cold storage. Nobody can hack a cold store. A legit, real one on several papers.
It's theory since in practice this is a currency, and we are traders.

I have no issues with the hackers or scammers as I take maximum precaution while holding or making any transaction from it. However, I am afraid of the possibility of the negative legal move from the government due to the users who are using it for illegal activities. Like fiat currency, Bitcoin and alt-coin are accessible to all including criminals but I doubt that government would pay any attention to such argument. In worst case scenario government can ban the BTC/Fiat currency exchange that would boost the shadow usage of it and might boost the black market. I am worried about the possibile consequences of any negative move from the government.

If you want to have a safe place for your bitcoins then it is the best to just put your bitcoin in a paper wallet because that will be the best option for you to be safe and to be a good bitcoin holder since the price of bitcoin is going up and it is attracting a lot of hackers to get into your private things and steal your bitcoin and they cannot hack and steal your bitcoin if you will put it on a physical offline wallet.

My own major fear is its high volatility rate and being really unpredictable as regards it. The other issue as regards hacking hasn't crossed my mind probably because I don't have it in high values. But definitely security has more to do with personal/individual preferences. There are levels of precautions that needs to be put in place to achieve this; which an individual must take seriously to ensure his/her investments - I believe every satoshi unit is worth the protection.

I have a lot of fears about bitcoins. I'm always worried about bitcoin course, because if at the right time I will not sell my bitcoins then exchanging course may fall and I will lose money. Also bitcoin legalization, many countries banned bitcoins that exacerbate bitcoin position in the world. Bitcoin protection also imperfect, any hacker with big experience can easy hacked our wallets.
In the field of bitcoin everyone suffers from the same fear that is the falling of prices but wise people cash out that moment also some of investor get panicked by seeing the price falling but the sharp minded investor understand the need of the falling time and he starts to fill up his wallet with bitcoin and since this strategy is best and banning of bitcoin is now impossible because no country want to suffer in the future as well.

Yes it would really be a nightmare if bitcoin will be ban and will not be allowed. And nowadays, Bitcoiners were afraid of their accounts being hacked. It would not be nice to do such things to some people especially when they work hard for it to earn it in good ways then these greedy people would hack your account. For me, people like these were weak, no backbones and don't know how to fight a good fight. Because you will just earn money in bad ways and would you think it would be blessings for you? I still believe in Karma. Don't let God give you your best punishment. Be strong and brave enough to earn your own money and it feels good to earn what you work hard with your own sweat and strength.

My greatest fears as a Bitcoin holder would be:

• Hacking, as we all know back then there were records of Bitcoins stolen, one big example is the case that summed up more than $400,000,000. Since a lot of hackers know that Bitcoin continues to pump, that's why you have to take good care of your coin, as it's value gets higher, the more chances hackers would try to attempt in stealing.

• Online Scam, internet is a big world that contains numerous farming and phishing, be wise, apply netiquette.

• Bitcoin's end, a lot of cryptos are pumping and are created, what if Bitcoin got out numbered?

• Government would make it illegal, well hope not.

So far those are the factor that would fear me as an investor.

1, the government will ban.
2, hacker
3, can not practical application
The government ban and the scenes that I can not use make me worry even more

These two are also my greatest fear as a BTC holder

All Government will ban BTC or crypto and of course getting hacked.

Also as a trader one of my greatest fear is when Bitcoin is actually a bubble and Bitcoin price crash.

If it's linked to government, I'm not too worried about that.. I'm sure the most governments would be still allowing to selling bitcoin to local currency for so on.

The most feared is the hackers for me, surely they will trying to spread some more powerful new viruses that will spreading in cyberspace (internet) trying to infect the wallets. Bitcoin price is increasingly peaking until now, of course this is could be a major target for hackers. So be careful to all, I just suggest don't forget to installing antivirus on computer and use wallet address that's really very reliable.

Bitcoin is rising with great pace. It has crossed $11000 mark by the end of the last month and still holding that number. Bitcoin holders are facing new difficulties/worries. With such a sudden rise in bitcoin price started the discussions is bitcoin a bubble? and what if that bubble burst, value of their bitcoins becomes zero. As bitcoin become the most valuable digital asset, the risk of it being getting hacked or stolen digitally is worrying its holders. Addition to that many countries started banning bitcoin transaction in their economy as they are claiming that bitcoin is a threat to their traditional fiat currency. So if countries ban such currencies what will be there status?

That is my greatest fear too, what if Bitcoin will just disappear and the value will get into zero? What will I do if that happens? What will happen to my investment? I think this my greatest fear. Aside from this, its price is not stable so I'm scared when it gets lower instead of getting higher.

yeah it could be a problem , but not really. since to have and hold something like bitcoin are human rights. noone can stop it , just greedy goovernment who want to take control over cryptocurrency world which it's impossible , fear about how there a lot of bitcoin user lost interest in bitcoin and decide to sell it all and then causing the market crash are so real. but remember the ecosystem has been built so well and strong , it won't happened in short time, so stay calm.

The biggest fear is the derivatives and the lack of understanding what to expect from them. I'm sitting now at 30% of the deposit in dollars and do not know whether to open new deals or close old ones. I'm worried about the excitement that is now taking place in the world of crypto-currencies. As they say, buy on the rumor, sell on the news.

My biggest fear as a bitcoat holder is that since the value of bitcoin lies in the demand for it and practically only its price is kept, that for some reason the demand for it will fall and bitcoin will almost immediately depreciate. I understand that bitkoyn still has the property of a bubble and it will eventually bloat so much that it bursts. I hope that nothing will happen to him in the next few decades.

The only thing that scares me with my bitcoins is when it becomes impossible to cash out meanwhile nobody (merchants) accepts bitcoin as payment. But I doubt it would happen because the silk road will always be there to accept bitcoins.
You are going to be able to cash out the problem will be that you will need to go through KYC policies, which to be honest it was to be expected, if you want your bitcoin to form part of the fiat system then you will need to go through their rules, but do not worry at some point bitcoin is going to be accepted everywhere and when that happens you will just use your bitcoin to pay whatever you want.

Yeah youre right hacking and scamming remains the top risks to be feared. But no matter how people are so aware and doing extra security steps yet there are still some who gets victimized by these cyber criminals. Anyway, one of my most feared thing to happen is when Bitcoin will pop like a balloon and it suddely lost its value. Its not impossible to happen since Bitcoin was designed to be decentralized no government can control it and no taxes, and Bitcoin is a big issue to the banks. So, how do you think government will adjust into this kind of currency?
Remember, they always want to be the first to benefit from any kind of stuff in the market.

My Greatest fears as a bitcoin holder? Positive thoughts, we'll keep Bitcoin running, and as good as it will be.

1. Unstable

Bitcoin is a speculative currency. While there are not enough companies currently offering the purchase and sale of products with bitcoin as a means of payment.

2. Very risky lost or stolen

As a virtual currency, bitcoins are encapsulated in the form of digital files or known as wallet files. In use, the wallet file is similar to the cash register function.

However, wallet files stored on your hard disk electronic equipment are very vulnerable to damage. In addition, viruses that attack your hard disk can also make stored bitcoins just disappear.

My greatest fear about bitcoin is when time comes that it will crash and the bitcoin in your wallet can not be cashed out anymore. It will stuck in there and all you can do is watch it and wish that you have cash it out before the crash happens.

We are all afraid and worried that someone will know and hack our account. Not only know that, bitcoin holders are afraid that the government will ban bitcoin in our own country. But as for me,I'm afraid that someday, bitcoin will be worthless and  will drop to its lowest value. Since it's volatile, it is not impossible that someday its price will go down. I'm afraid that someday it's will be zero.

No, "Do not be afraid of having bitcoin, because of the limited number of BTCs, BTC people's needs will increase, causing BTC prices to continue rising, with the current economic downturn, so Bitcoin is safe for future investments."

What are the top risks for Bitcoin holders?

All we know that bitcoin is volatile. Its not consistent in its increase. Actually, at first i am not aware what does holding a bitcoin possible benefit. Its like, everytime i have some bitcoin from faucets (before, a long time ago) i withdraw my earnings when i reach the minimum amout, eventhough its just a little amount. But as i join this forum i learn the benefits of holding, and so lucky that i did that. The value of bitcoin today make my holding double. I always check my bitcoin wallet and see the equivalent value now and then, when decrease in value, i feel frustrated, thinking why i did not encash this in this time, etc. Thats what i fear. Lowering its price

My greatest fears are also like yours, I am so much afraid that my coins got hacked and swindled by other people. As a Bitcoin holder, as a newly member of crypto community, I have more to learn on safe keeping our coins.

My fears as a bitcoin holder are scammers, because when it's hacked by the world's best hackers, it's definitely going to lose all the bitcoins we've worked for. and they will surely be able to access this site. But that would not happen. Many have confidence in bitcoin so they are so secure that they can not be scam. And I'm too big for my trust here.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking  too. What if someday, bitcoin will become worthless and there's a new coin that is much profitable than bitcoin? Then, were going to lose our money if it happen, though it's not possible to happen, but we don't know right? And aside from that, if bitcoin price will keep on increasing, I'm afraid that its transaction fee will cost high also just like what is happening right now. I hope transaction fee will not cost too high in the future.

the greatest fear? hmm .. i am more afraid of my own decision when deciding whether i will hold or i sell. yes, the price of bitcoin and altcoin is very easy to change, and I would be sorry if I sell at the wrong time.

I think the biggest fear of being a Bitcoin holder is losing Bitcoin. Because we will feel disappointed, if our money is taken by the hands of others. Therefore, we must be careful not to lose Bitcoin.

Well I have never faced this kind of problem in bitcoin it is increasing more and more in value just because of fine and competent use. If you are using bitcoin block chain wallet it will not make you lose the money and no one will be able to have all of your money until you share about it with about your bitcoin password. For me I am not afraid at all about anything related to bitcoin.

To my mind, the greatest fear for bitcoin may be the sudden fall of the price and it may cause a huge loss of the money.

the biggest risk in my opinion is the loss of coins that I have from the wallet. the second, I am afraid if suddenly cryptocurrency suffered destruction and the digital coins become worthless.
The risk which you are considering biggest can be reduced to smallest by selecting right type of wallet. It is highly advised to use more than one wallets to keep your coins and preferably go from offline wallets because I believe they are not easy to be hacked.

Your second concern is again just an assumption, nothing else. We are living in digital world and it is not possible for the internet to go out of order.
