Title: Possible info about 25k BTC Theft / Hack Post by: PcChip on June 28, 2011, 07:10:01 AM Hi guys,
I was searching for some information about a scam that was pulled on me two days ago; I sold one bitcoin on ebay, got paid with paypal and sent the coin, then immediately there was a claim filed and the money was taken away. The address I sent it to was 18HHRpghTbFcNb7zeEwBgSRp3UFq7cBFG5 , so I was looking through blockexplorer for info, googled one of the addresses my stolen bitcoin was sent to, and came up with NathanKBarrows from Hackforums.net One of his posts mentioned a wallet stealer from their forums stole 25k BTC, and I thought I remembered someone here recently losing that many. I'm not sure how helpful this information is, if at all, but I wanted to share it with the community. I would have just linked to the forum post, but it requires a membership to that forum, so I used the google cache and took a screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/jkV1F.png (https://i.imgur.com/jkV1F.png) Title: Re: Possible info about 25k BTC Theft / Hack Post by: angelo95 on June 28, 2011, 07:22:21 AM Just to make that sure, you didn't pay bitcoins with Paypal, right? As everybody as been warned about the risks doing so I guess you didn't. So how did you pay?

It is PayPal's policy not to support Bitcoin, and they are happy to reverse any/all transactions related to Bitcoins. If you want to sell Bitcoins, use one of the plethora of trading sites - particularly the ones that offer escrow services.

I don't think he was complaining about his loss of 1 BTC, but rather his discovery of the trail of 25k BTC from elsewhere.
