Title: Anchoring my riser board
Post by: rwtrader on November 06, 2017, 10:41:05 PM
Some of the small boards that go into the 1x pcie slot are a little loose where it only takes a small bump on the cable to kick a gpu offline.  I was trying to find a way to anchor it to the mobo.  I see a small hole in the circuit board that could be used to tie it to something, but I am not sure what.  Any ideas?  Any experience with this?  Thanks for any help!!

Try to replace the riser, I bet its the riser that is not fitted well into 1xPCIE, otherwise insert a little piece or rubber just enough to hold the riser into slot.

That is interesting.  Maybe a cheap riser?  Most of mine feel pretty snug.  Maybe its a board thing.  They have a hook at the end that kind of holds them in place.

I guess I would try a small piece of duct tape over the top to the sides of the PCIe slot.

I don't know where the post is, but I do remember reading some time ago about a guy who came up with a little clip to secure the mining riser board to the slot using a 3D printed part. He was selling the plans for a few dollars, and I believe he was even selling the clips. If you want to do it cheaply you could probably just use some electrical tape to secure it to the slot.

EDIT: Found a plan if you or a friend has access to a 3D pritner. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2627344 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2627344)

There are mobos with ancors to do this, but you can print it
