This depends on the individual because everybody will have different opinions. For some it might be good while for the other it might be bad.
Not all ICOs are good, some there to scam and some just to raise funds. Some ICOs might be good while the other may be of no worth.
You must be wise in choosing an ICO. If the ICO has good value in future and are in the market to solve issues then investing in it might be a good idea.

In my opinion the ICO is a good solution if you want to do sth with currencies you already have. It's a good way to invest in good busiess ideas. But that's where the problem is, not every idea has future business potencial. That's the field where you, as investor, have to put the biggest effort in research.Check everything you can: smart contract, road map, what is their ICO idea- business model, if they have already exchange, how they are distributing ICO and to whom. Lot's of different aspects. But when you start with one, educate yourself, than investing in ICO won't be so risky.
So I would recommend at first reading, doing research and than invest, it's not easy to find a scam.

I think that everything depends on the project, if it is really cool and you are sure of it, then you can safely and easily invest and after you can multiply your investments. But this is still a risky occupation, you can also lose your money. Here you need a detailed analysis before investing.

For example I already have YUPIE tokens (Crowdholding), after reading their whitepaper, smart contract and looking at reviews and the fact that their business ideas is based on co-creation(which in my opinion is one of the future trands) I assume they are at lest worth to chceck out. And I actually haven't invested yet, all tokes I have comes from bounty campaign.

A lot of ICO projects are just crappy. I don't understand why people are wasting time and money in believing in projects that have nothing good to bring to the market. There are surely some good ICO but I try to stay away from it. There are enough altcoins projects to be interested in.

This depends on the ICO. Not every ICO is so good to be invested, we all know that there are some ICOs that is not bad but you have a risk on investing on them because it might not be successful. Also there are said that some ICOs are being a scam or just to fool some investors and take their investments which is much needed to look out for.

ICO are just a chance for start-ups to collect money for their business. It's more modern than just organizing a crowdfund

Its not actually bad on investing on ICO but it would really be a risky thing to put on our money because most ICO do fail as of these days which means you would really lose up money on higher chance and most of them becomes scam after they do accumulate such funds which do really be a reason to lose up money if you are really careless on selecting them.

It's all about the profit man, even these ICO's are something that is against to your will we can't stop the growth of this market. Some are having a decent moment by investing on it, their only capital is just some small amount of bitcoin/eth and time. Waiting for their tokens to be distributed and waiting for that coin to be listed on any exchange. And after it was listed there, that was the time of getting the profit, this is the cycle of the ICO market.

Until now, all my investments on ICO has been a mistake  :(

Why would you say so? Well too bad and di feel you too. There was also someone who have told me before, that investing to some ICO's could really be too risky, its either it will succeed or you will lost what you have risked. More importantly you must have checked all the details of the ones you are going to invest, not only the platforms but also the devs if they are really the true person behind the project, as it seems that because of lack of knowledge and research some investors just risked in everything without knowing the consequences, but i am not saying you're one of them though, and i've been a victim also before and just making sure that people reading this would also be aware.

nake sure you reaserch well on that ico thatt you are planning to invest in ! you can read the white paper and the road map too! follow them on social medias and wawtch theupdate on yourtube, many website will publish them and make sure to analyze well! have a knowledge on the  team mebers and research something bout them ! before you invest ...

Its in you if you invest. Read their roadmaps and whitepapers. You can notify if its good or bad its up to you to choose a good ICOS.

I dont think its good to invest in a lot of ICO and also not investing at all, because ICO can make a lot of money if we can seek for possible technology development. However there are lots of scam and also lots of ICOs that didnt make it to the top so i suggest you to balance your account sheet first before consider investing in an ICO so that you dont dump all your money in one place but still can divide it to a few prospectus ICOs  ;D

it depends on what kind of ico you invest. Well, be careful choosing an investment, because that could be a boomerang for you. well, investing in ico is very good, but you also have to find accurate information about it.

Almost all the ICO are real.If we investment in real ICO can get profit in the near future.A little chance has to drop coin price than ICO price.

It depends, but for me its ok to all legit ICO. Keep away on those scams. There are many ICO out there but not all of them are legit or trusted. You should take care and always double check. Check the background.

I think investing on ICO is a high risk and high payback investment, I have invested some good projects such as omesigo and made some great profit, also there are some projects not so good as expected for now, such as the sonm. So I think you can invest on them with part of your money, maybe 30% is enough.

I would have recommended investing in ICO as best if there were not so many SCAMS around! You have to go through a lot of research in order to safely invest your money in any ICO. Some scams seems even more realistic than the genuine ones and that's what I am afraid of the most.  :(

It actually depends on the investor, but for me investing in an ICO is good because some coin sell very low during ICO and when they get to exchange they go 5X in price.

I agree, when you are investing in ICOs, you are expecting high return. Ico is pretty risky, it has its pros and cons. In the positive side, some of the investors gets rich here because of the high return investments.  The bad thing is maybe you are not one of them because many Ico now are scam,  I am not saying that all are scam but most of it. The good thing about investing in it is because of its transparency, also when you invest you can be a part of community.  The return of investment can be 10x higher or just completely nothing. It is very risky because scammers are everywhere, some use unregulated icos to victimize greedy investors. So it depends on you whether you want to invest or not.

Exactly once. basically the ICo is indeed a place of realization of a plan and if we don't see the plan of what will soon be implemented in the ICO then everything is going to be a loss. After my personal experience, it is very hard to find a good ico. I've participated in 4 icos so far. one of them is in hindsight 100% a scam, at the second I am not sure at the moment in which direction it will develop.

Investing in ICO is good in couple of ways. ICOs give the opportunity to get coins at low initial prices but that is not always the case. Some coins have high initial prices also. We can't really say which is good or bad because every investment don't have the exact same results. There is no assurance of gaining profit when you invest at something, all investors should know that. ICO's are new form of investment these days though there are some negative views about it recently due to scam projects appearing and trying to make a hit and run on our investments. Some people has good and bad experiences on investing ICO's but that depends on how he or she has to deal with the trend. Some investors just jump-in without doing some research and do something stupid like a suicide investment just because the project promised something good in the future but turned out to a scam after it reach it's target where people are pouring money on the said project. In my case I can't afford to lose my money so I decided to just participate on bounties wherein it is possible to lose and waste my time if some thing bad will happen to the project but losing time is somewhat acceptable than losing money in an investment.

It depends, I would rather invest in pre-ico, because of the bonuses. The problem is that many investors (before pre-ico sale) get a lot of bonuses. They sell their token for real cheap after ICO and that is how the price drops. I dont know why they dont lock the tokens for presale for at least 6 months.

If you did that, nobody would attend a presale anymore. How do you want to argue that even though you are one of the first to support the team and project, you are only allowed to trade with your coins on the  exchange after 6 months?

We can not be sure whether investing in ICO is a good choice or not. because basically not all ICO we can predict appropriately, everyone wants a profit when they invest them but ICO in my opinion is quite risky if we can not do proper analysis. Many indicators can be used as a reference to choose the right ICO. If you do some research and study about the ICOS you want to invest in, then investing on it is good because you can assure that your investment will gain profit, but if you just invest in any ICOS without any ideas about it then you just throwing away your money and that is bad. It's very good to invest in the ico although the ico has so many backers or supporters, just like universa which already gained mass supporters. and the crowdsale already raised a lot of money.

Most ICOs are just scam, where they collect users money and run away. They don't even have a working prototype/platform. Most of the tokens are also using for pumping and dumping - which ends up dying. Only few legit ICO pops up once in a while. Look for ICO where there are well known developers and looks promising.

There are still successful ICOs worth to invest but as an investor you should be wary on plenty of ICOs who are launching now a days because some ICOs are just used for personal interest and only exist on whitepapers and not in real life.So it is better to do a research and due negligence before investing.Though investing on a legitimate and successful ICO is a good idea were managers or leaders are strong and have a transparent community so that what you have contributed for that project will return in a fair share.

I only invest into icos I like and that will have some impact on the space. For me dapps are useless, every coin should have its own blockchain I don't like token coins unless they can be swapped later on.

It was very profitable to invest in ICO about 3-5 month ago. It was more or less easy to identify a good ICO that would definitely make x2 and higher in a short period after listing on exchanges. But nowadays it's much harder due to a large amount of ICOs and their demands to raise 50-500$ millions. During the last month only 3 ICOs were really successfull:
- PedPulse (RPX) - x3 in 2 hours after listing on Kuckoin
- Electroneum (ETN) - x20 just after listing on Cryptopia
- Hedge (HDG) - x4 in a day after listing on HitBTC

Anyway there're much more projects which token's price will rise in near future. So I still believe that ICOs are quite good for investing your money.

I couldn't less agree with you, investing in ICOs about 5-6 months ago was really profitable, take for instance TenX, Monaco, Adex and many more. But nowadays there are too many ICOs in the market and very few quality projects. So, first you have to properly analyse and research about the ICO and then invest in them and not just invest in any other ICO you see out there.

I cannot call it good or bad categorically. Of course, there are good points but there are also bad ones. My ICO experiences are generally good but they have bad sides as well. They were all profitable. They all turned out to be legit and not scams. So these are the good side. But I got their returns, the profit from my ICO investments, a little late. If you invest for a short-term, it gonna be a bad idea. You can't ask for a return just after ICO ended. The platform isnt even ready. That's why hoping double return in a short time is useless. But, it is maybe good to invest for a long-term. At least a year after ICO ended. Where the platform is ready to use, you can start realize if your investment is worth.

The worst investors are them, whom just invest a little money  but asking  bunch money for a return shortly.

It is better to check their bounty programs first i guess. Let's say if they are distributing more than 4-5% of their money then more probably you will loose at the beginning, because of the bounty hunters. Last icos have shown that.
Another issue is to check if there is a limit per person. If there is no limit, there will be whales and they can control the coin as they want, so technical analysis or whatever you are trying to do for investments will be for nothing. They will decide and that's unpredictable. Good luck with that.

But as much i have seen it as soon as any new altcoin is released and when it got listed in exchange immediately the ICO investors are the first to sell their shares as they have bought in discount price and when bounty coins are distributed the price of that new altcoin goes below the ICO price and it takes time for that altcoin to recover it back as projects are finished after long time. So if the coin is really worthy it is better to invest when the coin is dumped heavily and buy it in bottom price so when it rise it you should be able to take profit.

Community was the important thing behind the project itself. If there is no community and there will be no more people will try to buy that coin, to give the mass marketing into another ecosystem and give a lot of the support to the dev or the price.

IF yes, try to evaluate the difference in the price of the tokens during the different rounds because if early inversors has a higher discount than ICO round, maybe when the token starts to be traded, the price can dip even lower than ICO values.

Some ICO's have been really successful and have given handsome rewards to its investors and some other very well planed ICO such as blackmooncrypto are trading at -40% of their ICO price. I don't have any experience in buying ICOs/ investing in ICOs. But i am quite active member of that forum and i see what is going on here currently.
So to sum up investing in ICOs has huge risk. I won't write/spam you now why(i believe you know it). So the answer is huge risk, what's mean that it can be very profitable or just SCAM. In theory it should be good, but without professional research it will be bad step forward.

I've found that if you pick the right ICO to invest in, it could be good.

I invested 0.1 ETH in Electroneum during their sale and that 0.1 ETH is now worth at least double (despite still not being able to access my ETN wallet...).

I am also with that statement. If the ICO begins during the begining of the year then ends at the end of the year then it would be too late to make money on it because another coin will have the same features already.

TLDR: yes, most of ICO are risky and won't return you anything.
BUT. If you have enough money and split your portfolio between many tokens — in a long-term perspective, you will make money. 5-10% of total tokens can make x10 and more and this will cover losses from other ICO in your portfolio.

Those are investing in the ico get a lot of the return for their money. Lisk, ethereum, waves, and another good ico have started from zero and today the price already worth a lot than the ico price.

There are two possibilities. If you invest in an ICO that has good potential, then your investment can be said to be successful. But if you invest in an ICO that does not have good potential or even a scam, then your investment is said to be FAILED. What I really think is to go with a coin that has been listed or that has been tasted - might still be within the range of $1 or plus $1.

Whether it's good or bad I would say depends on the project itself. ICOs are not inherently bad or good, but the projects need to be researched thoroughly, i.e, looking at the concept, team, their current or future development, usefulness or proposed use and team communication. I've seen some Icos that on paper all looks good, but  the teams have poor communication and do not market themselves well (eg active on social media or announcements) this impacts

Most of the ico's that i joined before it reach december are scammers or did not pay the exact amount of tokens that we should get so you should always pick an ico to advertise wisely.

I find it extremely hard to tell if the price of the token will go up right after it hits the exchanges or if it will fall.

Recently I think more has been falling a little, not sure if it is because people who earned bountries are just dumping their tokens or if it is the once who purchased it, that are dumping, because it did not hit the moon on the first week of trading.

I think many people when they buy an utility token thinks it will go to the moon right away, even though the platform were they are supposted to spend the token is not even live and it does not work like that, at least not any more.

well, to answer your question, investing ICO's project is not bad the only thing if you know how to choose the better one.
Now, if you had already choose the right one do some researched on it view the roadmap,whitepaper and the whole participants or the whole developer on the project. ICO's offer opportunities to the public which would not have been generally available, so it's a good thing.
Just for reference sake conventional practices also do give rise to bad practices. All IPO's are not good, neither are all banks good, actually, that's an understatement.

ICO investing definitely can be very rewarding, but only if we pick the winners. There are so many scam projects, that are sometimes hard to make out as such. I myself made some bad experiences with ICO investing, where I lost most of my invested money, but now Im doing way more due dilligence when investing, and this turned out fine so far.
