LEGACY Building a blockchain-based last will solution for the digital era ABOUT | Legacy is a blockchain application allowing people to easily distribute digital assets upon their death or upon a given set of verifiable events.
Legacy’s smart-wills overcome the limitations of traditional wills and are specially designed to answer the needs of the digital society.
Exploiting the unique characteristics of blockchain platforms, Legacy is designed in order to ensure security, reliability and long-term operation.

OUR VISION | With the advantages brought by decentralized ledger technologies, we are currently observing a transition process in which not only money,
but also property, equity and other forms of value, are now being stored and transferred on blockchains. In an economy that is rapidly evolving
towards tokenization, Legacy aims at becoming the first *smart-will*, allowing people to easily dispose of their digital assets after death.

TECHNOLOGY | Legacy is currently being developed over the Ethereum blockchain, though integration of additional blockchains is considered in the near future in order to further guarantee long-term operation. Legacy's core functionalities include a *Proof of Life/Death* engine responsible of determining whether a user is alive or not. In addition to Legacy's smart will service, the PoL/PoD engine represents an important technological contribution to the blockchain ecosystem, as it allows the development of a variety of applications such as insurance services and any kind of dead man's switch. Legacy's smart will is implemented through a smart contract that handles the transfer of users’ assets. ROADMAP | Legacy's first release enables secure and private transfer of secrets (e.g. a wallet's private key) and *memories*, (e.g. digital assets of sentimental
value such as messages, pictures, videos, etc). An alpha version is already available and still under development. The first release will notably
implement the PoL/PoD engine, which is at the heart of Legacy's value proposition. Integration of other types of crypto-assets, such as crypto-securities,
smart property and other forms of blockchain-based assets, is expected for Legacy's second version, subject to legal constraints. Finally, Legacy’s third
release will incorporate a reward and incentive system designed in order to guarantee long-term operation, as well as a decentralized governance system.
