Title: Airbnb with blockchain?

What's everyone's thoughts on the bee token? They are decentralizing short term housing rentals with blockchain and zero commissions. Their team is made up of engineers from Uber, Google, and Facebook (pretty impressive if you ask me).

i dont know in your couontry, but at least here in Spain, things are getting harder.. stronger regulations to this kind of intermediary agents liker AirBNB, uber.... so the success of this project depends on the goverment of each country

My locality is actively trying to weed out AirBnb as well through requiring unreasonably high taxes on what they classify as transient accommodations. Ive been waiting for a service like this especially since AirBnbs fees for both hosts and guests are reaching exorbitant levels.

Absolutely will work if... I'm an AirBNB host and alt-coin developer so I have some insight here. (I'm US based). AirBNB works for the following idfferentiating reasons: 1. Awesome search capability / marketplace. 2. The 2 way rating system and 3. Host protections, conflict resolution and the insurance policies in case something goes really wrong. Looks like they have this. Now here's the if: There are so many weird situations and issues (go read the reddit/r/ainbnb) with renting new guests on a weekly or even more frequent basis that really, really good customer service is a necessity. This year in fact I've had to deal with customer service 3 times and they really had to work hard to resolve the issues. If people are interested I can describe them. But my point is that while AirBNB does have high fees, I feel like I'm getting my money's worth both as a host and when I travel. That said, I think this idea is worth working on and am willing to pitch in. ...

very good perspective! Based on my experience with Airbnb, their fees are way higher than they should be. Their dispute resolution is so slow. In contrast to that, a community-regulated platform would speed everything up, meaning not needing any commission fees. I also don't like the barrier to entry of airbnb. They would essentially open up the doors for full participation. It also helps that their team is pretty solid.

Yes. I agree with your points. An issue will be adoption though, I think using crypto may be WAAAY ahead of its time for market penetration. The team had better have an education package available, brain dead wallets, incentives and awesome marketing to get people use the new platform beyond the value proposition of reducing fees. Hosts are just getting used to AirBNB, ie. making their place available online to complete strangers and now you want to throw in a crypto coin and having a community regulate the system??? It will blow their minds. As I said there's merit in the idea but far from a slam dunk. BTW, AirBNB is already looking into Crypto/Blockchain. As a host I'd rather continue working with them than adopting a completely new system...

Nice find. Incredible team they got there. But not just that, a solid project with real world use behind it too.
I'll definitely be buying some of their ICO once it goes live.

I'm a fan of this project just on the basis of the idea. Sure blockchain is hard for mass adoption, but I think people are more willing to learn (just like when facebook came out). And plus, the crypto community is big. We will be the one's leading the movement.

So my question to you is: you are willing to stick to a limited platform with outrageous fees and unfair dispute resolution? My take on the bee token is that they eliminate the barriers of entry for both guests and hosts along with way more transparency. At the end of the day, I feel like their platform will be very similar and adapting to it won't be a problem for me imo.

And why do we need the blockchain for? I’m not against the idea but I do not see a market for it, airbnb is a giant and I do not see any benefit, the market is already saturated of copy sites and the most important factor is to get people to use your website and I do not see how using a blockchain is going to help the business model.

There is project called atlant which use like airbnb system. You can rent the house or place from there. The ico rise approx 7 million usd. The token price way below ico price. It is the most undervalued token. When the platform up in q1 2018 the price can goeasx10 easily.its just my opinion base on what i research.

That looks promising, will subscribe.
AirBNB in Ukraine turned into a kind of lottery: outdated or fake appartment's photos, realtors instead of real owners, price changes. Lot of reviews is the only chance to get what you want.

Will be interesting to see if they can expand to asia. It can be a pain to use airbnb for more remote areas, owners sometimes asking for more money. Would be a lot simpler if i can just pay a flat fee in btc or eth. Definitely investing in the presale if the project still looks legit

If AirBNB cannot get it right then it is unlikely that some other service is going to do it any better unless they are a local service that competes against AirBNB since they can take the time to look at the properties and tell if the owners are telling the truth or not.

i can really imagine something similar to Airbnb with blockchain. Just think of it. You can simply make the entire process automated, payments, scheduling without ever needing Fiat currencies. That can actually work in various industries, including car rental or Uber kind of services. By having the entire process automated you can all of the sudden reduce your costs and offer the drivers for example a better payment than what you are already paying out. And the same can be applied to almost anything, including renting office, selling goods etc. The best thing is that you won't need any kind of documentation because at some point we'll have everything automated in a way that just by showing our address, we'll be able to immediately access various services (the address will be linked to our ID for example).

I agree. Other than the obvious uses of blockchain such as transparency, efficiency, an crypto, looks like the bee token will be charging zero commissions, which is great. As an airbnb guest, those commissions are outrageous. I also like the fool-proof reviews (meaning no spam or fake reviews) along with dispute resolution. I feel like this industry is perfect for blockchain because it reduces costs, makes it more transparent, and more efficient/fair.

I'll be following the bee token. Already joined their telegram group and looks like their pre-sale is going to be this month

We should be thinking about which projects really have added value by using blockchain.

Even the ico still not started yet, This airbnb will become a good thing for us. but remember that was not easy as the majority people said. That means to build the dapps version of the airbnb looks not easy.
Basically, the decentralized airbnb will be based on the p2p transaction.

I donīt see why you would decentralize such big house rentings system... Servers and databases will still do it much faster...

If ETH Network got a bit bottleneck for a simple kitties website.. could you imagine how it would be for a monster like airbnb ?

IMO it's important to decentralize a big company like Airbnb. With blockchain you prevent fake reviews and terrible conflict resolution. Also the tech itself brings about more ironclad agreements let alone the efficiency. Looks like they have some tricks up their sleeve from what they're hinting on the site/wp.

Idiotic is that there are so many platforms, but everyone builds on Etehreum altho they know in advance that all projects will have huge problems exotically beacuse there will be to many on Ethereum. Ethereum Blockchain will hit 1 Tb next year. I just dont understand this guys why they do it.

Very interesting idea. Been a part of their telegram group for a week now. One of their admins in their telegram group said that they have a prototype ready which is pretty cool. Definitely sets them apart from other ico's.

I do think this project will be competive in the space, the rental business is getting crowded and I think they are late to the space especially with a brand name like Airbnb dominating already, I won't touch it and again the potential for growth here is very small

I have a feeling they're going to announce something crazy down the line because they always throw out hints in the telegram group. I read somewhere that they have partnerships set up that will kickstart their platform. At the end of the day, what differentiates them for me is the team. Yes, there are lots of ico's out there int he real estate space, but their teams aren't credible...not even close.

I'm going in on the bee token not only for the platform, but mostly the team.

Love this project they have going. This is what I've found out so far from their telegram group:

$15m hardcap (5m for private pre-sale, 5m for pre-sale, and 5m for public sale)
~14 cents for a bee token

Pre-sale date: January 2nd 2018
Public sale date: January 31st 2018

They also posted this for the token distribution: https://medium.com/@thebeetoken/bee-tokens-sale-metrics-explained-59249fc96536

Why not? Many big players are with blockchain now.

I just donīt see much value in using blockchain for real state projects or anything that is subject to many different alternatives and subjective points of view.
