^ Is true. Most of them are dead, puppets, or alt accounts people want to sell. If you want to get the total number, it might take a while but try to count the active members. (Would take years, lol.)

291 of those accounts are mine, so you can take that off the total.

Count 50 or so to me. I'll be running a sale on them as soon as they're mature.

About 128880 accounts registered now.

4296 (pages) X 30 (Users per page) = 128880

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist

Probably only a 7500 active users...lol. (Minus dead accounts and duplicates)

It's probably safe to disregard the 2626 pages worth of users without any posts since many of them appear to be bots. A lot of Jr. Members with only one post look like bots, too.

~131982 accounts have been created (unless the member ID is a lie).

The mods must be deleting accounts daily (from spammers and other non desirables).  I have seen the numbers fluctuate over the past few days.  Total pages have gone down recently.  Possibly there are gaps in the numbering.

That's a completely different question. I would imagine that there are many more than post here. I started a friend using Bitcoin and asked him to make an account here. He visited the forum but said he never made an account because he really didn't have anything to say. He still uses Bitcoin and is addicted to the cupcakes you can buy with btc in San Francisco. Oh, and he's addicted to Seals with Clubs too. lol

Yes, that is a difficult question to answer. It often seems like bitcointalk.org is the center of the Bitcoin universe but I'm often surprised by how many bitcoiners I meet that rarely, if ever, visit this forum.

One could attempt to track visitors to all known discussion sites like the subReddit and other forums, but then you'd need a way to determine how much overlap there is.

Spammers get banned, but their accounts are not deleted.
