The word CRYPTO is a shortened word for cryptocurrency, in the real-world we have FIAT currency, here in the web (online) we had the crypto currency, it is the result of the formulation of mathematical algorithm. I t really difficult to explain but the most easiest way to understand crypto is by saying it's a term for cryptocurrency, a kind of MONEY in the online world that can be converted into a real money or FIAT currency.

Crypto is a field which goes back to long period of time. The word crypto comes from the word cryptography which is the study of hiding some information with a key so that people of programme who have the key only can read the content. Crypto means hidden/secret and this word became famous when crypto currencies are introduced to the world.
Crypto currency is a form of currency which are encrypted or hashed with a code. As I believe this is a brand new usage of cryptography and it will help the word to come to flat currency so that it will be easier to do transactions than do it with native currencies.
