That is are own fault. I guess the email has hacked or data has tracked by someone. where coinbase are one have a sercury  F2a  were confirming login with email code. Coinbase is a reputable exchange but keeping your BTC in exchanges carry certain risks. You never know when will the exchanges close down, when will your account be hacked and etc. It is more safe to keep your BTC in a wallet you call it your, which you control the private key.

Paper wallet or hardware wallet are the two safe wallet you may want to consider.

I guess its safe if you are just going to put money in there for your trading purposes only. But if you are going to store huge amount, then its not safe. Because in a likely hack, you will lose everything. Might as well used wallet like Electrum or Bitcoin Core to hold your bitcoin because you can have control of your private keys and seeds.

Yes, Coinbase is backed and verified.  We know where they live and where their headquarters is.  People getting hacked are more than likely using easy to guess passwords/usernames.  Or even worse they are on a public computer and saving their credentials or something like that.

We can't pinpoint Coinbase directly about hacked and loss coins because at most of the cases, it was user's fault that why others experienced that losses. Some became victim of phishing, poor security, reckless activity at any personal accounts etc. But there are cases that Coinbase freeze some of user's account due to different reasons. I don't experience this that's why I can say that it's not wrong to used Coinbase services sometimes.

Just used Coinbase service but never treat it as a long term wallet for your precious coins.

I am sure that it is just plain human error. We always tend to blame something out of something that have occurred and are connect to a some sort of device or technology, but in truth it is all just the person's fault.

A coinbase wallet is not that too reckless, it has all the security you needed. Whenever you logged in it will require you to input your email, password and the confirmation code. So obviously it is just a human error, not the wallet itself.

U should always use a wallet where u have your own private key. Do u get a private key at Coinbase? No. So, don't place your coins there. Use a wallet like eg Electrum where u can export your private key and put it at a secure location. Also keep in mind, that exchanges can get closed at any time! If so, u will use all your coins.

Its OK as far as online wallets I guess and I use them a lot with GDAX to buy coins
BUT REMEMBER
If you don't have the keys, you don't own the coins.  Always remember that.

No you dont own the private keys the exchange could close down tomorrow or be hacked and you would lose all your coins. Better to use a wallett were you control the private keys like electrum or a hardware wallett like trezor.

You will be safer using paper wallet, generated offline from a linux live.
With paper wallet, you have the public key and private key. If you want to see your balance you can do it with public key.
If you want to spend your funds, you can import private key to some wallet like electrum in your smartphone.

I wouldn't use exchanges as wallets. I try not to leave any coins in my exchange accounts. I don't know if I'm paranoid but it never hurts to be prepared. Better safe than sorry.

Yes coinbase is a safe and secure bitcoin wallet, Currently I’ve over $600 worth of BTC in my wallet without any security issue. I’ve using just password protection for my wallet.

If you need more security then you can enable google Authenticator for your coinbase wallet.

You will also get $10 worth of free BTC when you sign up. Click the link below to signup now.

No I wouldn't say its ab OK wallet, an OK online wallet would be maybe blockchain.info which atleast gives access to your private keys. Coinbase should not be used as an wallet at all IMO, just used as an typical exchange, buy/sell bitcoin and transfer them asap to your 'wallet'. I would say any online wallet can't be considered safe, best using an offline desktop wallet.

Actually, Coinbase is not a wallet but it is an exchange that generates public addresses that can be used as wallets for Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ethereum. Now, since Coinbase is an exchange, it can also be considered as a third-party network where you are not personally the one who's holding your coins but others. And like other third-party systems, they can be hacked or compromised.

In general, if you really want to have a secure wallet, then I would suggest not to use Coinbase, but instead, use a wallet where you have the full control of your private key. Some examples of such wallets are hardware wallets like Ledger, KeepKey, and Trezor, and also desktop/modified wallets like Bitcoin Core, Electrum, Armory, MultiBit, Exodus, Copay, and Green Address.

It's definitely not everyday that this happens.

But the thing with coinbase is that you never know what's going to happen next. Their policy regarding bitcoin forks is extremely inconsistent and you always have to be on the look out for new policy changes.

Also you do not control your own private keys, another downside of using coinbase or any other web wallets/exchanges. This means that if they get hacked, they do not have the responsibility of paying you back. You're trusting them more than you need to.

Coinbase is surely one of the safest online wallets out there. The account which are getting hacked are because of user's carelessness or phishing emails, or someone targeting a particular account. Otherwise coinbase itself is a trusted and safe wallet. Just make sure to keep your password complex and long and have 2 factor authentication enabled. Then you are safe mostly. Also don't share your coinbase email with unknown people or in public.

When you use coinbase you are trusting your funds in a third party service because they do not give you your private keys as they're the one holding it so they're the ones who technically owns your funds because private keys symbolizes ownership. In short you don't only need to be careful of your own carelessness but also on the third party you're trusting to. But since its coinbase I highly doubt they will run away with your money. You just need to be wary of their compliance as they can always change it and their users has no choice but to follow it.

Certainly not one of the safest wallets out there in fact no web wallet can be close to "safe"

Not have an experience on it.  I meant not hacked.  Activate 2FA authentication. Never keep logged in always,  Never open your wallet in a new device you have not used,  Try having one more wallet and shift now and then though you may occur some transactions fees.

Some of my friends are using coinbase and they like it the most for their bitcoin to keep secure and i have not heard from them about this type of news that it is unsecure. They are saying that this wallet is a more secure wallet and they are keeping their bitcoin in there for longer without any worry. The  only thing you have to do is to secure your wallet password from others.

That's actually false.

It is much more likely that someone cracks your coinbase passport than that they crack your Electrum / core keycode/password.

Ontop of that, you don't have access to your private keys on coinbase, so if coinbase goes down because of a DDoS for example, you will no longer be able to access your funds.

Coinbase has it's hot wallets insured, which means that if they get hacked, the insurer will pay up so they can ensure no customer loses coins.

I think they also have FDIC insurance for their fiat balances.

It's pretty much one of the safest exchanges out there.

Does this also count for individual accounts? What if someone hacks your account through for example another dataleak from another site? Is that insured aswell?

I doubt it..

But since its coinbase I highly doubt they will run away with your money.

It's not about Coinbase itself running away with people's fund, but more about malicious employees, data loss, seizure, etc. No matter how unlikely certain scenarios may seem at first, it will always remain a potential threat to your coins. With various solid dedicated mobile wallet clients being available, where you at all times are the sole owner of your private keys, it actually doesn't make much sense to use online wallet services anymore. People mostly went for these wallet services because of their free external transactions, but now that's something of the past, the main purpose of using them has basically vanished. People as always, find it too much of an effort to switch to something offering them a better overall form of security. ::)

Lolz. Then they must be kids who forget to store their keys and passwords and keep the doors open for the hacker.

I think coinable is very secure wallet and I'm using it since very very old time man! I have traded more than 10 BTC form it and I never had problems from the coinable side. The transaction view is simple, the specification of the wallet are just very right and you can buy and sell very easily from the wallets section.

Im sure the news is always their for any services or products. Because there are always negative thinkers in this world who try to put up the bad impression of the good things. You cause it, its safe place.

Coinbase is not a wallet, its an exchange.
At the beginning of my journey to crypto world I used Coinbase.
But when I known that its an exchange and not a wallet, then I moved to a wallet.

About risk, every online wallet or exchange has a risk of getting hacked. So take your necessary precautions.
That's why it is being said to keep your coins in your desktop wallet instead of web wallets. And also where you can control your private key.

Exchanges and storage wallets should've be clearly distinguish. Exchanges should be use only for conversion from coin to coin or coin to fiat. Storage wallets should always be offline to be safe. Online wallets have many risk factors that may loss all coins. Factors such as legislations, hacking, bugs and many scams.

I think it is only 80% secured because I have seen  some thread here in forum about a problem with their coinbase wallet such as they can not retrieve their password and lose their funds, etc. So I can not say that the coinbase wallet really 100% secured. If you wanted very secured wallet for your fund use wallet has a private key to prevent being hacked by others, you can use Ledger hardware it is a kind of offline wallet.

There are many wallets in online stil we can believe it. If you want to save bitcoin as a asset you go with the desktop wallet or hardware wallets. To speak about the safest concerns on Coinbase only this thread has created I believe.
When you want to say you don't trust the online wallets. You can create a own thread for it.

These kind of posts would be taken as a spam count. When the thread does not active you please do not bump the thread with any reason. I am using the Coinbase for long time I do not find any issue on using this wallet.

You bet it is I'm sure they got hacked because they don't follow the safety protocols coinbase taught them. They might have some problems about the systems and you can face some bugs but so far so good it's one in a million chance.

Unless you use Electrum on an airgapped computer with appropriate setup procedures, it's not going to be extremely secure. Even with a password on .dat files and such, treat Electrum on a live, network-connected computer like it's a mobile wallet.

If you use a hardware wallet like Trezor or Ledger, quadruple-check your seed to make sure it is written correctly. If you lose your wallet and come back to the wrong seed, you lose all your funds. After you've generated the seed and written it down, wipe the wallet and attempt to recover the empty wallet. If it's wrong you'll know and you'll be able to repeat the procedure. If it's right then you're set.

Coinbase offers a wallet and exchange, is handy and especially favored by crypto newcomers. It is good for quite small funds. But no third party wallet is safe. The reasons are already given by preposters. You don't own private keys, Coinbase could suddenly shut down with your funds and you can be easier hacked as on hardware/software/mind/paper wallets, where you own your private keys.
To learn a bit about several kinds of wallets, you could have a look on this helpful thread:

Coinbase is an exchange site and it's only when keeping small amount of bitcoins that is used for trading. Coinbase base is not safe when saving a lot of bitcoins in it as it prone to hacking.
I'd suggest you use blockchain wallet where only you have the access to your private keys. The individual access to the private keys is what makes blockchain wallet to be very safe.

Coinbase is a very scummy company.  Never trust coins there.  I used them as a newbie and used to go in to "frozen coins mode" all the time.  Prob have gotten better, doubt their morality has though.

Ledger nano s / desktop too are safe too use.
Never trust coins there.
In any exchange, no one should trust their unless they are going to get it immediately and withdraw most of the funds there.
I used them as a newbie and used to go in to "frozen coins mode" all the time.
I used them once but I didn't pursue using them and their customers and newly registered customers are increasing. Just don't store in any exchange if no plan of withdrawing.

I use Coinbase on a daily basis, and can pretty much confirm that as long as you don't need to seek any sort of email support, their service works flawlessly, and is basically the best out there.

I am not verified at Coinbase at all, and haven't faced a single obstacle preventing me from doing what I want to do. As long as you stay away from anything related to fiat, there isn't much to worry about at all.

I mainly use Coinbase's centralized ecosystem to distribute small payments to people's Coinbase accounts for free and instantly, but in some cases withdraw Bitcoin to external addresses as well.

I can definitely say that their withdrawal fees are insanely low right now, so there is nothing unfair or scummy about Coinbase. For actual usage it's a great option, but if you just want to store coins, offline storage is the best option.

The bit in bold is key.

Most of the people who have had problems with Coinbase have done huge trades or bought large amounts using credit cards and triggered Coinbase's safety algorithms.

I can't blame Coinbase for being careful - who on earth buys large amounts with a creditcard?

I am also never faced any problems with coinbase wallet and they have a good option that we can transfer our bitcoins without any transaction fee into the other coinbase wallets. But the fee is little bit high when compared to blockchain wallet. But it is not good to use coinbase as a wallet we may store little bit of bitcoin but for the people who are keeping coinbase as a wallet is in great danger on losing their funds to hackers.
Huge fee when sending is one of the reasons why I am not using coinbase anymore and you can't request to backup your private keys, unlike the other wallet. And it is non-segwit support.

That is why it's not safe for us to save a large amount of bitcoin in coinbase because if the site is down or gone forever we can't recover our wallet in the future in other wallets and if there are bitcoin fork again we can't redeem them unless if they support it, but it takes a month before they announce that they are supporting it.

So, I stay using electrum wallet instead and now with the Segwit support that reduces the transaction size and fee compare to Coinbase.

Don't know why this thread was bumped but you should consider changing the topic because; Coinbase is not a wallet but an online exchange like binance or Bittrex and can be hacked or phished even though it is highly secured. They can promise security but whatever security measure that should be carried out should be done by you to protect your account. And, never leave your coins in any exchange.

Trezor/Paperwallet the end.

Ledger is utter garbage tech.  I can't speak for Blue (which one reliable source told me they were highly let down) but Nano is crap.  It's platform of apps and what not,  is just all very much lacking.  They are also connected to "man in the middle attack" and when Trezor is so much better than why buy one?  I'm not saying it's not safe when used properly but it's not a good piece of tech (it reminds me of my YakBak and TalkBoy).  Paper-wallets are best, but hard for most people to learn how to make the RIGHT way.

With email and sms verification on, I don't think it'll be easy for anyone to hack an individual coinbase account. As of the coinbase itself, they have quite a group of specialist and are handling every problem since the start. My first wallet was coinbase back in 2012 and chose no alternative.

Coinbase is a very scummy company.  Never trust coins there.  I used them as a newbie and used to go in to "frozen coins mode" all the time.  Prob have gotten better, doubt their morality has though.

That is what I'm using mainly for hot wallets and agree it is VERY good compared to others..but not for long term storage.  Then Trezor. Lastly paper.  All 3 are the way to go. I was speaking in terms of mid-long term storage.

In what way is Coinbase's fee higher than the one from blockchain? If you're referring to external withdrawals, Coinbase shouldn't be higher at all, and I actually doubt it is higher. Coinbase only charges a vanilla network fee.

I however agree that holding coins on Coinbase (or any other service that doesn't grant you access to your private keys) isn't the right thing to do, although it does offer a certain form of convenience.

I am not really worried about hackers when it comes to exchanges, but more so about insider theft, or governments raiding an exchange, and from there seize people's crypto assets, just like what happened with BTC-E.

If that is your review to nano I won't argue with and regarding paper wallets that's right it's the best and everyone can avail to do that. I will try soon trezor wallet but for now I'll stick with my few desktop wallets along with nano ledger s.

Now that you have mentioned this, there's another thing that newbies need to consider of avoiding too much funds in exchanges.

Warning! Coinbase is not a wallet it is an exchange so hackers can easily hack into coinbase wallets by knowing your email address.

Safe wallet are hardware wallets or the wallet which has the private key so no one can access your account without the private keys. The wallet like Electrum is best wallet to store our funds safely.

Yes I agree Electrum is not safe as hardware wallets because recently hackers vulnerability was found in the old version of electrum, but it is thousad times better than the coinbase wallet.People who knows email hacking can steal all our funds by reseting password through email itself but 2FA may help in such cases but electrum is better than coinbase but Ledger Nano S can give the ultimate protection to ur funs in long term.

In most cases i do believe that those were always an inside job and they are just really having an alibi that they are being hacked by someone.Truth or not then i dont still really believe on what they are trying to reason out.I dont have any trust to 3rd party wallets or any places which i dont really possess keys. The thing on using coinbase is the convenience that it gives. Its a good medium on buying or converting out your bitcoins thru local fiat but it wont really be ideal if you make it as a storage.

I have been using coinbase for years now, i can authoritatively say it's one of the best out there.
If you are hacked then it means you let loose your login details carelessly.

And note this: most times it is exchanges that get hacked, wallets rarely get hacked.

Yes it is and based on my experience i never had an issue with them but the most basic principle in crypto trading is that you should not store a large amount of coins from exchange if you don't have a plan on trading it soon because of the risk that the site might attacked by hackers and it's becoming an alarming these days since there a huge amount getting stolen everytime this hacking incident happens.

Coinbase is the safest wallet you will ever get most of the time haters  will do anything to make coinbase bad or even worse. One  in a million you will be hacked coinbase have 2FA feature so if you take your strategy seriously you could maximize your security using it.

Coinbase is the safest wallet
No, coinbase isn't the safest wallet. They are trusted by many by it doesn't mean they are the safest wallet.

The safest wallet is where you have the control to your funds through private keys or seeds. But we might have different definition of the word 'safest'.

One  in a million you will be hacked coinbase have 2FA feature so if you take your strategy seriously you could maximize your security using it.
By providing 2FA it can strengthen security but it doesn't mean that intruders can't go backdoor and steal all the funds behind. If you are talking about security, why not just maximize it by choosing a wallet where you have the private keys?

And note this: most times it is exchanges that get hacked, wallets rarely get hacked.

Coinbase, while a lot people use it as a wallet service, is mainly an exchange service, so you're not really convincing here. On top of that, Coinbase doesn't allow you to gain access to your private keys, which in a situation where the service for whatever reason stops working, you completely depend on the service to come back in order to withdraw your coins. In times where people directly suspect that a service got hacked after going down due to unexpected maintenance for example, it would be great if you had your private keys to keep yourself calm in such situations. In case you don't trust it at all, you can just move your funds. Remember, if you don't have access to your private keys, you don't actually own any coins at all....

Coinbase is an excellent option for purchasing Bitcoins among other cryptocurrencies. I have been using their app for years now and it is one of the easiest ways to buy bitcoin around. I usually use Gemini to purchase BTC, but if I am on the go I will purchase BTC on my iPhone using the Coinbase app (my review here (https://www.smartbitcoininvestments.com/coinbase-review/)).

If you are worried about safety, the best thing to do - as with any exchange, is to send your crypto to an offline or hardware wallet. This way you will have access to your keys at all times, and also retain peace of mind.

But it is still not safeplace to store our coins because they don't have our private keys while using coinbase wallets so we can't import our funds to somewhere while there is an issue.First of all it is an exchange so we don't have to use them as wallet we really need to have some wallets like electrum for storing our bitcoin.

Coinbase was used by many bitcoin users and I think they are safe to use but the only problem is if coinbase site will down we don't have any backup seed or private keys to recover it in the future.

So if you wanted to save your bitcoin for a long time use a wallet which is you can backup the private key and seed phrase.
Coinbase is just for temporary use and don't save large amount of bitcoin.

Duration on how long is the service been operating doesn't signify that it is considered to be safe because when we do use up that word its 100% risk free on losing up coins. There are lots of things to be considered or to check out on coinbase and as being said you don't possess your private keys which once they do shut down then your coins would go the same way but somehow they are regulated which its hard to believe that recovery of funds wont be focused out. Second, just like any other exchange under governments regulation once you violate their ToS then you are subject to be hold up.

Coinbase hacked! when man? I think its a fake news, I am a regular user of coinbase and using since a long time. I don't face any problem with the site. but its not wise to use this site as a wallet. its just an exchange site. Try to use desktop wallet or blockchain wallet.
Please learn to read dude. The topic you quoted was on 2017 and it wasn't reliable anymore (although coinbase isn't recommended to use). While Blockchain is not safe either, it is okay to use coinbase to store the little amount of Bitcoin. But if you want to store Bitcoin as your cold storage, I'd prefer to stick with Ledger or desktop wallet.

About hacking incident I didn't remember that coinbase do experience such problem. The thing here is that when it comes to safety I don't recommend using up webwallet and as you said even blockchain wont be considered safe too.
The wallet I do only use is electrum or bitcoin core but when it comes to lite version and doesn't have problems on downloading the whole blockchain date I would stick up with electrum and ledger or trezor for long term.

Instead of web, you may try their android or Mac application which your phone. Those are really good at having the fund so far as I am experience on that wallet good and my friends also using the same wallet so far. All seems good only.

Please go with the blockchain if you feel this web wallet is not good. I see you secure your wallet without any problem It will be perfect for secure the wallet I mean 2FA and app pin to make the payment.

You are okay to use coinbase if you have only small amount of bitcoins anything less than one bitcoin and and intention to see it or move to another wallet in short period but storing them in is not secured anyone since you are not controlling the private keys.

This is what i like with Coinbase when they do have issues they can easily fix it and do give out updates on certain fix if you do turn on the notification when you are on mobile
but when do talk in the issue about if its safe then its not as most other people said on here we cant get the private key so we should not put up huge number of bitcoin not only the risk on losing it
but also you would be questioned coz coinbase is highly regulated.

You are too worried about the private key issue in coinbase, I think it doesn't affect much to safety. Of course, with the large number of bitcoins, it's best to keep them in a cool wallet.

This is definitely true and even when im still a newbie i do consider exchange wallets and web wallets/pc wallet/hardware wallets is just the same, they might have a same purpose but they do have different
system on how you would store up your money and with their security, coinbase is a famous exchange but wont really be sufficient enough to convince me to make it as a storage of my holdings.

I'm using Coinbase sometimes because I'm mining with nicehash with profit switching(awesome miner) and until now, I haven't experienced any issues using their wallet except for delayed transaction before but still, coinbase is fine as an alternative but not good for holding bitcoins for a long time.

Since, the company was established for a long time It's still trusted web wallet as an alternative.

First of all, I want to tell you Coinbase is not a wallet. It's an exchange site. They did not provide you with any private key for your wallet. So you can't call it a wallet. I am using Coinbase for a long time and never faced any issue with this site. you can use it but never put a lot of asset on this site.
For holding BTC use a desktop wallet or blockchain wallet. They are safe instead of Coinbase.

Many of the wallets are seems operating same like coinbase.
I too know that coinbase is based with exchange still you find the wallet on various platform with better than other wallet specifications.
Then read their security concerns and norms they follow to secure their wallet users.
For those people who aren't aware on whats coinbase then they would probably have into their minds that this is just a typical wallet
without even thinking that Coinbase itself is an exchange site and which do have a certain wallet too but as being said you wont
really have your own private key just like on any exchange too. You can use up as a wallet but the risk on losing when theres a problem is
high.

I am also doing the same with the mining on Nicehash on perfectmine.io but I did not find any issue on receiving the payment on Nice Hash wallet to Coinbase wallet.

So far usage wise also having the good experience on Coinbase wallet.
But I am unable to edit the fee value while tranferring the cheap or big amount from Coinbase.

I hear news everyday that people are getting hacked their coinbase account and loss coins. Is it true? Is it safe to keep coins in Coinbase?
I don't doubt their security capabilities. They are big companies and that is the biggest guarantee but I do not like using coinbase now because I like to control my privatekey.

many wallets are safe and reliable, but it all depends on what you want to choose. I can recommend the luno wallet, although this wallet is fairly new, but this wallet has shown a sense of security and comfort for its users. luno has four very unique features in my opinion like, the first is deep freeze deposit, this feature is used by traders for most bitcoin they have in luno wallet. If you use it, you will get two benefits because of the nature of the multi-signature wallet offered. This wallet is also equipped with a private key (private key) stored in several different bank vaults. the second is hot wallet, this feature provides services with facilities owned hot wallet multi signature. So, there are 2 keys that apply, one key held by luno.
third is password in luno wallet stored in hash form. that is, only you are the only person who can access the password you have created before. luno also guarantees the power of passwords created when you first register in your wallet or luno account.
and the last one is the two factor authentication, 2-factor authentication is a feature that is provided specifically to be an additional security system.

but still yes a hard wallet the safest one , it just sometimes not as easy as what people said , i mean it cost quite huge amount of money when you only want to store a couple bucks only it won't worth.

coinbase is legit since it is one of the oldest wallets out there . though what i dont like from coinbase is that they are now requiring their users to verify their identity in the means of uploading some important documents .  you cant withdrew your funds if you dont do this gimmicks . i  already deleted my coinbase because of it , now im only using easy wallets such as blockchain.com and myetherwallet.com

@reflector , youd better use coinomi wallet , since coinomi do have the ability to edit fees before sending or recieving any payments .

Yes, because using a wallet we can at least have a private key to make it safer, in coinbase we don't have no access to owning a private key, so I don't think coinbase is a recommended wallet, but if you can feel comfortable there, then I don't think it will it becomes a problem as long as you feel comfortable and fine using coinbase.

Coinbase is one of the safest options out there right now, I think if a theft occurred, because of them they would return you the lost funds.

They also have a "vault" which stores your crypto offline afaik

I would invest in a hardware wallet though if you are planning to store larger amounts

Using online wallet has a big possibility to lost our fund, we do not hold their system they can easily shutdown their data base and we do not access our account anymore, but if there is local bitcoin wallet in your country and you are holding your private key i think that is much better to used to hold your bitcoin. Also blockchain is one of the best wallet for me i do not experience any trouble using their services but i think also coinbase is one of trusted bitcoin wallet even i do not using it but the feedback by other users was a proof that this wallet is very legit.

Coinbase is professional Company from San Francisco. They won't dissapear

We all know since they have volume support using the exchanges but real fact we will not able to believe the web or exchange wallets as like other most trustworthy wallets that is the problem here mate.

I also using this coinbase wallet to exchange and hold some funds, since I started I did not find any problem on using this wallets.

They are secured because they are a registered business but we can't still be sure of it whenever something happens if funds were robbed through their cold wallet. Getting a hardware wallet is still recommended though they are a business registry and is trusted by many people still don't be too comfortable with them. I wouldn't use them as my personal vault and long term hold.

However it is exchange wallet only right. One positive thing that we can believe coinbase, they have added them on enrolling the exchange on European regulations law on using funds.
It is really a good thing for having fund apart from that still they are the exchange users.

In my opinion coinbase is a good and safe wallet, I have used coinbase for more than 2 years and have verified with the original ID, the most important thing is to activate all the security features or 2FA provided, and for the large amount we store in the vault.

if we see the fact that coinbase is a exchange service with huge values !
then it becomes a good target for hackers ! Until now nothing happens but other "smaler" wallet provider are much safer i guess !

kind regards

Coinbase has a good reputation and is convincing, the thing I like about coinbase is a layered security system that has a very low transfer fee that makes me happy to use coinbase.

Just like when you're actually trading "Safety first" is your #1 rule & should be applied to your exchanges as well.
3 things to look for on a new exchange (Make sure you take point #2 seriously!)

#1 What Are The Specs? (History, Location, Size)
Coinbase.. Relatively Old, Located In USA, And It's BIG)
Grade: A

#2 Safety Features
Everything is there for an secure account and the vault feature is cool. One thing I would like to see is multi-level account access. This would be nice if I wanted to give someone access to the account but disable the right to trade or make withdrawals.
Grade: A

#3 Support
Many people complain here and I've also had my share of bad experiences. There's much room for improvement here for Coinbase.
Grade: C
Conclusion In Total I think it's fair to give Coinbase is a B+

They are def better than most exchanges out there and I do like to use them on a daily basis and they offer tuns of tools to help you protect your account. Ontop of that they are very established and have a solid track record.

However, if you do need anything from them that requires additional support or more institutional-like features I believe you'll be disappointed and you'd find alternatives else where. So there's much more Coinbase can do to approve in that regard and is why they were not a full A for me.

Not at all, online wallet are the most risky because of various reasons like-
1. Hacking
2. Limiting Account
Unlike bitcoin core, you don't have any control over coinbase or the same types of wallet. Coinbase, in general, is an exchange and a wallet for the newbie who get trapped by them by google.

But they also have some security to restrict this like for hacking they have 2fa and login shield when the access happening from unknown device which may save lot of hacks.

Limiting account means don't have control over funds right, but this is good thing for the newbie who don't know what fee need to use for transacting so they get end up setting default fee from coinbase but newbies need to learn quickly about crypto wallets rather than trusting online wallets for long time.

Why comparing Bitcoin Core wallet to Coinbase? Its just like comparing apple to oranges (desktop wallet vs exchange wallet).
Its clear that which one is better hence, coinbase is an exchange and majority does know that if you store up funds on an exchange wallet which
you dont own the keys then you simply dont own those coins completely when you store it up there.

I am not comparing anything here,I just said the facts of wallet like coinbase can be used by complete beginner until they know how many sats per byte need to setup for the transactions to be confirmed on next blocks.

But bitcoin core or the wallets which gives private keys are the best still might have complications for the new users.
