the use of the cryptocurrency is illegal in some countries and punishable special at MOROCCO (North Africa)

It is to be expected, so one of the most important things is to always monitor your local news about anything related to crypto, in my country there is not going to be a ban but a new law is going to come to regulate it and I’m fine with that.

Punishable in Morocco? What kind of punishment are we talking about? I wonder why they do not embrace it.

Well I mean, is something like this all that surprising? In smaller countries, where they're already ridden with corrupution and the governments trying to squeeze as much as they can out of people. Do you think they're going to allow for a decentralized currency to come in as a way to hide money from the government? No, they're obviously not going to leave any power to anyone else. Because if they do, that'll lead them down a long line of them probably losing their position for being too WEAK.

There's a lot of money to be made in centralized banking, especially for governments and banks, teehee.

He is legal only in Japan. The rest of the countries are not very positive about it

I don't bitcoin will be forever illegal in this countries maybe their government don't see yet the good things of bitcoin and what they only knew is the use of it in illegal activities. I hope soon this issue will be resolve because it is not good for bitcoin market to have those negative feedback and it may kill the bitcoin community if many countries will do the same

We can't blame other country's government if they would consider the use of bitcoin illegal because bitcoin is a threat on the current fiat system and might replace it in the future and since it is decentralized government don't have a control on it, that makes them against bitcoin.

In a lot of countries, Bitcoin has no official status but is not declared illegal, and more and more countries are Bitcoin friendly (see South Korea, Singapore, Australia). Yes it is in some countries because ... Well more or so bitcoins are causing problems for government in some countries..its.. really something that one can't ignore.. 90% ICO'S are fake and a scam..

Yes indeed there are some countries in the world that bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are banned or illegal. It depends to the government of a certain country because they have the power to ban or legalize bitcoin in their country. But for me, if a country doesnt ban bitcoin, it will help their economy to grow and develop more.

I think you need to reconstruct your post because it is misleading, countries is not banned by other countries because they can't go to that country, maybe it is the people you are talking about? or bitcoin. Please clear it out.


There is a lot of countries that banned bitcoin and obviously if it is banned you are punished for using it. Still there are some people who uses bitcoin despite of being banned to their country. I don't know the reason they banned bitcoin but I know for some reason that they do not want crypto currency circulating into their country.

We can't do something to this matter, bitcoin is not a currency that will bring down economy but it also helps, I do not know why do they need to ban this currency because this is really helping people and the country.

Yes bitcoin can be deemed illegal by whatever nation or state but that is there choice and it is not a good one. The reason for that is because they are segregating themselves from the rest of the world. BTC can be used all over the world and if you try and make people scared of it or regulate it and tax it then people aren't going to want to build anything there. People can still get away with using it though, that doesn't matter.

Its because the those government pretend bitcoin as a threat for their national currency, but why many developed countries are accept bitcoin? I think those countries who ban bitcoin must change their regulation.

Yes some countries are ban on bitcoin like China, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan, and Nepal.

I think the reason many small countries are banning bitcoin transactions because their country is still very insignificant about bitcoin, so many people in their country who do not understand about bitcoin, so it can be used and used by people who are not responsible, therefore the government decided to ban the bitcoin of their country

Bitcoin is illegal in some country because I think that their government is very strict specially in their security in their country. Like China, Morocco and etc,their government banned bitcoin even if sometimes  they not understand the advantages or good thing in bitcoin.They think that bitcoin will used in crime and in terrorism so they decided to banned the bitcoin in their country.

I think it's because people have used to carry out vices and the untraceable nature it has also proves more points for its rejection in some countries.

That is what is happening right now, we see some countries doing that. Most countries have tremendous fear of Bitcoin, they are afraid of the destruction of the economy when the Bitcoin price declines significantly. I have seen several times that governments are trying to do the regulation, but more countries are still undecided. most big countries are still waiting and trying to see how Bitcoin is developing in the future. But if its really illegal it should be a huge concern for the bitcoin community right? yeah I was checking some arab bitcoin related facebook pages and found that Morocco has made bitcoin illegal
some of the Moroccans mentioned that using bitcoin can lead the users to jail now in Morocco , so it seems that they are taking it seriously  ;D

do you mean that is the reason why some of the country banned bitcoin because of that reason? Will for me on my own opinion some of the country banned bitcoin because of its bad feedback which is they used bitcoin through bad things which is illegal things such as buying illegal stuff like drugs and etc . And the common reason is they used this currency because it can hide their identity.

Yes. you have said that in some countries Bitcoin is illegal. Bitcoin illegal in my country too. And the government of my country told the people to refrain from using Bitcoin. It means that their money can be trafficked in another country. Even if someone uses Bitcoin to catch him, he or she will be sentenced to 8 years in jail. Actually I think it's their stupidity. I think Bitcoin will not do any harm to us. This will reduce the unemployment of our country, free of poverty.

That's a bad news indeed. Why they only see the negative side of bitcoin and can't see the positive side of it. The government can't see that bitcoin can reduce the unemployment problem in their country or probably these governments are pro - banks so they are anti - crypto. In a country where I live bitcoin is not yet legal, but I think if it is legal in banking financial opportunities in my country it is likely to be better. I do not know for what reason they can not accept bitcoin for legal, but bitcoin users in the country where I live grew from time to time even though bitcoin is not legal yet. but I think sooner or later bitcoin will be legally used in the country where I live

Yes, most of the country are Bitcoin is illegal. Thought Bitcoin is a great online currency but most of the user are Bitcoin ,they use Bitcoin many different ways.  So big effect on country currency. I think in most of the countries bitcoin is not illegal but yet they do not take any decision about bitcoin,  I am hopeful that very soon they are going to turn bitcoin as legal currency.

that is what is already happened to my country (Indonesia) central bank of Indonesian (roles as central government of bank) they are stated that bitcoin is prohibited in my country especially for payment because that is potentially to use in illegal aspects.

Bitcoin is illegal in some countries, that's true. But I'm confused with the punishment that should be given to people using bitcoin in a country that forbids bitcoin. I think that a proper penalty for such a thing should not be more than a fine of money. Or even if you have to be in jail, do not take too long.

There are a lot of countries where using of bitcoin is illegal it is because of the threat and because of the government that banned bitcoin in that country its all depend of them they are the one to deside because they are the governemnt but sometimes it is all about money they dont want a high technology just because they cant corrupt money.

I do not know what causes bitcoin to be illegal in a country. but, I think it would be very harmful. well, bitcoin can provide a very good boost for each country that receives it. it is able to make people grow.

Many countries have banned Bitcoin because of its decentralized nature. The government would never allow anything to come in the mainstream which are out of there control as government can't regulate it's flow.
Another reason for government to ban Bitcoin is its anonymous transactions. The transactions of Bitcoin can't be traced so it is a very good medium for illegal transactions and hence can pose a threat to security of a nation.

In Russia, bitcoin is banned. But in the US, while the laws are very incomprehensible

I wish people would just start being accepting of cryptocurrency instead of bashing it just because it isn't green paper or tangible and because of the fact that they can't collect tax as easily on it.

You may be mistaken, the Indonesian government does not currently prohibit bitcoin. They simply informed that bitcoin was not valid for payment, but the circulation of bitcoin in Indonesia was allowed.

That's not the major reason I don't think. Yeah, it can't be regulated, but the thing is, BTC isn't practical for everyday use as of right now. The fees associated with micro transactions are way to high and the fact that there is a chance that transactions can be double spent and no confirmations etc. This is what the government is banging its head over.

I am suprised to see that using Bitcoin is punisheable in some countries. I mean, if you know bitcoin is forbidden on your country, you just have to use VPN to buy and sell, there's no secret. Surprising isn't it? I had read some news about "is bitcoin illegal?" Most of the information I got says that bitcoin will be only ILLEGAL if and only if the user is using it in illegal way. So lets go back to the question. Why bitcoin is illegal in some country? Probably, most of the people in the country where bitcoin is illegal are using it in wrong way it might be for killings or some unwanted acts.

Because of anonymity, there are some countries that ban bitcoin because they cannot track the inflow and outflow of cash and cash equivalents so it would be hard for them to know if the people in their country are doing something illegal or not. Because it is decentralize, it is hard to keep track of the people who are involve with it which is not favorable for the government. Though there are some who are open to idea of accepting cryptocurrencies in their country, some just can't risk their financial status that may be compromise because of it.

Bitcoin is not totally illegal, because in some country bitcoin is usually using as natural currency, maybe you just need to reconstruct new word for that. Most of the country in Asia using bitcoin, also in my opinion it will become illegal if this crypto currency abused using it. Bitcoin become illegal because of some users who get caught by the government that deals with illegal transaction using bitcoin if this can only be prevented but since bitcoin does not control by any government it would be hard for them to prevent illegal activities so for their protection they just banned bitcoin transactions and others declare bitcoin as illegal stuff.

Yes. Governments of other countries does not approve the legality of bitcoin in their country. The reason of it is having illegal transactions that involves bitcoin. But goverment cant prevent users from having bitcoin and using/investing it so that illegal transactions cannot be prevented. Maybe the thinking of some governments is "Crypto will down all the banks and fiats if Bitcoin be approved".

Bitcoin being illegal in some countries probably has reasons. Maybe bitcoins are used more on illegal transactions or crime that is why the government announced bitcoin as ilegal. Or maybe they just don't have any profits from it.
Government and the users are the factors to consider here.

Sooner or later it will be implemented, for the part of the government and their good own reason why some of them ban it actually, because of what you have said maybe there are some illegal activities happening, and its true that it is so hard to track the certain person doing behind those happenings, that is why the most effective way they can do is to ban. It doesn't mean that bitcoin really is illegal, its just the people who used it doing so makes it illegal.

Why is it illegal?

 I think yes there are some country that bitcoin is illegal, but here in my country I don't expect that there are android app and stores that made to bitcoin to use in buy and pay things. So that means here in my country accepted bitcoin, and some my friend thought me about the other restaurant here.

This persecution against bitcoin in many countries speaks only of the double standards of many politicians and economic leaders of the world, since many of them try to take over and accumulate bitcoin in secret, while in pubic they do everything possible to prohibit it, from this they make sure that only they have access to the bitcoin and not the large masses.

Yes bitcoin in most countries are still look at as an illegal currency. And this is a big reason that will slow the general acceptance of bitcoin.

It is going to be made illegal in most backward, corrupt, dictator or oligarch driven profit seeking, as they are attempting to mobilize the man power to develop their own nation crypto-currenency. I think that's the wrong thing, they forbid cryptocurrency in their own country.

Maybe because their country is prone to cybercrime attacks which is something can affect if they allow the use of bitcoin usage would allow their cybercrime to continously sabotage their security system. As for our country it is step by step accepting in our country because central bank and government our imposing some regulations in bitcoin. Slowly but surely, just needed to be updated through daily monitoring.

Few weeks ago, the government of my country establishes some new law about bitcoin and all of them are negative ! I think not many countries instead of some countries are more right. So many countries banned bitcoin as a illegal money and some of them can lead you to the jail if you do anything about bitcoin as holing, trading of mining bitcoin. However, law is just law, citizen has their own experiences and they keep doing what they believe.

Let's be honest, who cares what poor countries do with Bitcoin? Most of countries which ban Bitcoin have financial problems and they are simply afraid of people switching over completely to Bitcoin. If I were a resident of such country I would consider moving out to another country or simply continuing using Bitcoin.

The problems are the consequences of doing such a thing, are you willing to go to jail just to hold some Bitcoin, because many people are very brave when they do not face the consequences of their actions but many will lament doing an illegal thing once they are caught, so if bitcoin is illegal in your country then it may be a good idea to not hold it.

you are right, I totally agree. even for a small country there will be no effect for bitcoin or crypto. that is what you have said. the government holds only for individual and group interests. that is what happens to corrupt countries

it means illegal or not allowed. some countries actually banned bitcoin for some reasons and because bitcoin is decentralized therfor it is not regulated and can somehow result to illegal activities like money laundering.



it depends on the country your in and depends also in their law or rules. some countries like bangladesh states that who ever caught with bitcoin or using bitcoin will be jailed and punished accordingly. though it also depends on how severe damage you have delt. but i think its impossible to be track down by authorites because bitcoin is kinda anonymouse.

Yes, bitcoin is illegal in some countries of the world. Countries that prohibit the use of bitcoin must have their own reasons. In my country for example, the government forbids the use of bitcoin as a means of payment because they are unable to guarantee the security of using the bitcoin. But the government allows its citizens to store bitcoin and use it in other countries that allow the circulation of bitcoin.

There are really countries that remain to be very hard against Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrencies. Many of these countries are either in the continent where digital lifestyle is still very much wanting or in the Arab portion of the world. I don't exactly understand why but it seems to me that those arab countries are kind of close-minded not just when it comes to crypto but also in so many aspects as well.

It says that Morocco, a North African country, being the newest ban happened last month November this year. Not only bitcoin but also other cryptocurrency were banned in that country for some reason. According to an existing law in their country, that kind of transaction that is virtual is a case of infringement and is liable to have penalties such as fines. Maybe these are the said punishments. The Morocco's Ministry of Finance declared this banning of bitcoin in their country.

The fact that Bitcoin can be used anonymously for any transaction, wherever and whenever makes criminals interested in using it. That's why most of the country has not given certainty about the use of Bitcoin in the country. Some countries indirectly approve the use of Bitcoin but with some oversight.

I think the number of country in this list is increasing because these government afraid about Bitcoin cause they can't control Bitcoin because of the out of date technology in there country.
