Title: Truecrypt + wallet.dat Post by: infested999 on June 29, 2011, 08:41:47 PM Does anyone else here keep their wallet.dat inside a Truecrypt drive?
Title: Re: Truecrypt + wallet.dat Post by: dayfall on June 29, 2011, 08:52:30 PM Yes, why do you ask?
Title: Re: Truecrypt + wallet.dat Post by: infested999 on June 29, 2011, 08:55:36 PM Yes, why do you ask? Because nobody else is doing to so I wonder if there is a issue with doing it... Title: Re: Truecrypt + wallet.dat Post by: ThiagoCMC on June 29, 2011, 08:58:40 PM I'm using EncFS (instead of TrueCrypt) on Ubuntu, hosted within Ubuntu One as a cloud repository.

I'm curious, who is this "nobody else" you speak of, and why are they not safe? Title: Re: Truecrypt + wallet.dat Post by: evileric on June 29, 2011, 09:45:12 PM Truecrypt is your friend. Safe enough I'd leave the file lying around on the web with my 36 character password.

Safe enough I'd leave the file lying around on the web with my 36 character password. +1infested999, I use TrueCrypt, however not for my wallet.dat. This is not because there is anything wrong with TrueCrypt. It is because of wasted space*. The minimum size you can make a TrueCrypt container is 292 kB which is more then enough for a wallet. For a comparison. The average size of a MP3 is 3.5 MB**. 3.5 MB = 3, 500 Kb (OK... 3,584 Kb, however I think you get the point). * This is not a consideration for most (if not all) because of the sizes of hard drives. ** See http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_average_size_of_an_mp3_file Title: Re: Truecrypt + wallet.dat Post by: infested999 on June 30, 2011, 10:49:41 AM Truecrypt is your friend.
