We should start a boycott against wallets and exchanges who not have SegWit or plans to implement.

The boycott is not the way out. If there is a problem it should be solved through negotiations. Always a bad peace better than good war. You not only what was happening with bitcoin at the end of last and beginning of this month? Do you want to undermine the credibility of bitcoin and destroy it with their hands. Everyone has an opinion and it is always possible to reach consensus.

I agree.
Attempting to boycott will provide unwanted pressure and they can break things of it's not implemented properly.

A boycott will hurt both parties in this fight. These services have made a "political" decision and they will have to deal with that. The people

will migrate to services that support what they want. We only need a few wallets and exchanges to start supporting SegWit and people will

start to move away from the services that does not support it. Once they experience the "speed" improvements, they will never turn back to

wallets and exchanges that does not support SegWit.  ;)

Right, so in other words they're going to boycott almost every existing wallet, including Bitcoin Core.  That sounds like a good idea.

R/bitcoin is absolutely insane recently.  Loads of the least rational posts are being upvoted and supported.  It's obvious that an attempted boycott like theirs would be weak and unsuccessful, especially when it's on most wallets in general.

It encourages a culture of just saying whatever you want provided that it's vaguely pro-SegWit and anti-blocksize increases.

I am against any boycotts. What is your secret that bitcoin needs modification? It is in the interests of all. It seems to me that it should be startowa position for negotiations. After that, you can always find a solution to problems which will suit everyone. It seems to me that it is very important to open the gateway for deep penetration of bitcoins in everyday life. This may facilitate trade. And the need to deal. If you need to increase the block size then it should be done. If the transaction cost will increase but it will be divided into a larger number of users it will benefit all. Why is there war?

boycott ???!

People are crazy. When the teams behind those wallets feel that is safe to use, they will implement. Make stupid movies like this is bad for Bitcoin. We do not need to give the opportunity to hackers or bad people. There is no need to rush.

Boycotting the wallets which does not implement SegWit is not a very good competence to tackle the ongoing problem with of pending transactions and a high mining fees . The most widely used wallets are probably not using the implementation of SegWit , thus boycotting it would lead to a not so fruitful outcome .
Dumping it would only lead to a high price drop for bitcoin . Following such petition will be foolish to do . The best way to deal with it is to wait for some time and if you are too stressed out about the mining fees then there is always an option of holding . Since bitcoin is rising , holding would not be a bad idea . I am sure a fair solution is being thought and implemented in order to deal with this scenario.

Slightly off-topic, but do random and stupid Reddit posts actually qualify as "Press" now?  It's basically just another forum.  I wouldn't personally deem this dross notable or newsworthy.  If anyone posted a suggestion somewhere else on these boards about a boycott, it wouldn't then be deemed acceptable to post about it here in the press forum, so why would we make such an exception for Reddit?

It's not always great to get extremely politcal when it comes to these kind of debates. I also support segwit and would prefer more wallets openly showing support. But I also don't feel like it is the best solution in this case and I have doubts whether it would even have the right impact. Let's assume we would pull trough on the idea of starting a boycott. So essentially we would be massively stopping the use of certain services that don't support segwit. But for this to have an meaningful impact (for the businesses themselves) you would need a large amount of people to do the same thing and quit using these services. But given the degree of technicality you need to even slightly understand this problem I still consider us (the people who do recognize the problem) a minority. You can't forget that a lot of new people enter the space and couldn't be bothered to do research on the technical side of bitcoin, hence never end up supporting this boycott. Another reason why this won't work is the fact that these services are very easy to use. Why give up ease and solid user experience for a problem I don't/partially understand (also take in mind the majority of these people are only in for the monetary gain). So even if we would go ahead and launch a boycott, I'm very sceptical wheter it would serve it's purpose.
