Title: FIX MY STEAM GAME. 40 DOLLAR BOUNTHY! (IT CRASHED ON STARTUP)

i just bought Dead rising 2: off the record for PC, but as soon as i open the game it crashed. (windows is trying to find a fix but then quits)

I think i can help you out with the problem.
The fixing would need some kind of RDP/Teamviewer access to fix because it needs technical attention.

First try that method above, if this fails-> make sure you have framework 3.5, xna framework 4, .net framework 4, visual C++ 2005, 2008 and 2010 installed(12,13,17 maybe necessary as well, depends of your OS). Looks like memory allocation error so make sure you have all the dependencies in place (check game folders for those). Disable firewall and antivirus(just in case).

Why teamviewer ? That's not safe for the OP.

I don't know how else one would help the OP if not with a remote desktop connection.The following bug could be solved subjectively and would also depend on the hardware configuration etc .Had it been that easy ,OP would not open a bounty for it right ? TeamViewer is only vulnerable if you're not monitoring the activities what the remote user is doing.

I've done some more testing. i installed Dead rising 2. exact same problem (thery're 90% the same game)
i also installed Dead rising 1 and it worked great!

still no luck in getting Dead rising off the record to work yet..

just to be clear, the game is from steam, i do not want a working crack with offline mode, i want it from my steam so i can play online.

i have tried that, using teamviewr would not be a problem actually, i have a total of 4 things installed on my computer now. DeadRising 1,2 off the record and Total war. hehehe
i made this windows partition just for the games,

it's installed on C. i do not have a "Rendersettings.ini" i think it automatically generates when you start the game, i also tried to download a Rendersettings.ini and add it to my folder, still does not work

okay let me try.

-Try run is an administrator, i think you already did this.
-Try change your compatibility mode on dead rising launcher app.

the last way its just reinstall your game or re-download it again. Since your pc still work with another game and just crash on dead rising, maybe theres some corrupt file on there. But still any chance if that will crash again.

Probably there are corrupt files in your Windows.
You can try this fix first, do sfc /scannow on the command prompt.
If it won't work, maybe your Windows have many viruses, try to scan it on Windows Defender, or install trusted third party antivirus
This is the last way, think what you do twice, Reset it. If you don't want to, you can try to contacts Steam Support or the Developer.

try to launch the game as administrator (right click run as adm.), if it doesn't work, try with different compatibility and if active, deactivate windows aero.

Things i've tried but dosen't work.

1: Changed Audio settings.
2: Rebooted Windows
3: Run as Admin.
4: Generate the "Rendersetting.ini"
5: Install on C
6: try different "launch options" such as "Windows XP service pack3" etc.
7: Reinstall the game

lots of more options which i can't remember just now..

Have you followed my advice in the post #5 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2451335.msg25156349#msg25156349)?
This usually does the trick, I have never encountered an launch error witch wasn't directly connected with one of the M$frameworks.
There is a slim chance that you will never be able to play this game with the current rig, tho. (you actually never provided us with your exact specs)
My last advice, install OPEN AL.

try installing on a USB and see if it works on there and make sure your system is fully up to date with no firewall blocking the program :)

What you need is the rendersettings.ini file and generate it manually.

A steam player already solved this problem.

change those renders, set vsync to false, save it as rendersettings.ini and drop her in place. I don't know the max resolution, heck, I didn't even see a place to change in game settings.

It is a heapsize problem, 100% it is a problem with videocard, maybe you need to apply lower resolution or settings

i have now done a fresh install of Windows and currently downloading the game again.

i am online now if anyone is up to the challenge (game will be installed in 10 min tops)

Online again.

Game crashes on start up. it can not create a file named "Rendersettings.ini" if you create it manually it will interact with it (for exemple changing the resolution will be noticeable just before it crashes )

I will assume your rig meets the minimum requirements to run this. Steam should be able to ID what config will work best on your rig, so you should not have too big an issue fixing this.

Your first step is checking your graphics drivers, update or reinstall.
Next, in steam go to your library, right click on your title and select "properties". Select local files and then select "verify integrity of game folder". Let this run.
If upon verification your title still won't work, select "browse local files" in the previous folder and locate this programs ".exe".
Right-click and select properties, then click the compatibility tab.
Select the box the says "run this program in compatibility mode for:" and then select Windows 7.

If none of the above steps work you may have a larger issue going on.
