Title: Can anyone recommend me a 6+2 pin pcie splitter?
Post by: miguelik on November 28, 2017, 05:48:08 PM
Hello;

I have a psu with 4x6+2 pin pcie (150w each),

 I want to buy 6 graphics cards with 1 6 pcie conector each (75w).

So I will need two splitters, from 2 6+2 pin pcie connectors I want to get 4 pcie 6 pin.

Can anyone recommend me any splitter for buying In Europe (Spain)?

Sorry for my English

Thanks

Depending on the PSU you have you might want to use a couple of molex=>pci-e adapters instead, and just leave those 4 pci-e cables alone. That is if you have enough molex connectors.
Otherwise, you'll need something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/132414668536 I don't think there's many to choose from, it's a very simple adapter so just find similar ones locally (or order from china), they should all perform the same.

Thanks for the fast reply

Wouldn't it be too much current by the molex? 150w by one cable of 4 molex seems too much

You can use two cables with molex connectors, so it'll be 75W per each cable. Although molex connectors are pretty sturdy, they can handle a lot of watts. But it's all up to the PSU you've got. If it has a lot of cables with molex connectors then it's an option to use molex=>pci-e adapters (and they're widely available, most people probably have some already since they're often included with the GPUs). But if your PSU doesn't have many of those cables with molex connectors, then go with the splitters like then one from that link.

I run all my risers using these PCI-E 8-pin to dual 6+2 pin 18 AWG splitter cables. Very good quality and i've had no problems.

They look nice. So you power 2 risers per cable right? Might buy a few of those just to clean up the cables on my rig.

I use similar splitter cables to power my double 8 pin cards as well. Been working fine for 6 months without any problems.

Yes, two 6-pin risers per 8-pin PCI-E PSU cable or even three since some of the PSU cables have a 8-pin + 6-pin pigtail. I also use the 8-pin splitters to power the 8-pin + 6-pin VGA power on some of my cards. I wouldn't use them to power two separate 8-pin VGA power connectors on two different cards though since that can pull close to 300 W when dual mining and overload the PSU rail.
