Title: Net Neutrality and the Blockchain
Post by: BlockAbleNick on November 29, 2017, 09:16:12 PM
Hey Everyone,
First-time poster here! With all the buzz in the news, I wanted to do a little research on the potential impact on the blockchain that ending Net Neutrality in the USA. I don't proclaim to be a developer, but the article I've written should give a little insight into the possibilities it could have on the industry. Would love to get peoples thoughts and other insights you may have on the issue.

What does net neutality have to do with blockchain technology other than possibly having the P2P data sharing cut off? Comcast blocks torrent and Gnutella uploading so I could see this happen to blockchain things too.

Net Neutrality can mean lots of things ranging from more freedom to Internet Socialism to giving monopoly like powers to centralized cloud services like Alphabet / Google who of course are exempt from net neutrality rules as they are "edge providers".

I'm ooposed to regulating ISPs until the situation becomes so bad that it's absolutely necessary. The biggest issue at the moment is that the only broadband provider for many people is Comcast and so Comcast is giving bad service since there is no competition. The solution for this is to have at least one other competetor to Comcast before putting regulations on ISPs (aka net neutrality).
