Title: How do I identify end of rally?
Post by: flashmark on November 30, 2017, 05:56:41 AM
Hi,

Is there any indicators or ways to identify the end of rally of a particular coin? Can I get a early indication by looking at the market section in coinmarketcap.com or any other ways? How do we early exit with profit?

thanks

Take a look at bitcoinwisdom.com it will show you charts and indicators.

The rally will end in blood ... nobody will know until after it hits.
Usually when everyone is yelling to buy you should get nervous :)

you can not identify it because it's totally manipulated by people,
no matter where you go you will never can be,that is why you need your own strategy to make your way.
for example Bitcoin right now,
many people do not understand what is going on and what will happen in the future,
they're very happy to see it flying to the peak from $8000,
but they do not understand how far it will go and they made a strategy to make a way for his portfolio.
like this for example :
they will sell 30% from all of their holding whenever the price hitting $11000,
and they will sell it 10% from all of their holding whenever the price hitting $10500.
lastly, they will sell it all until the price hit $9500.

we can not predict the market totally because it can change at any time.
that is why we need strategy to face it and to make a way out.

To make sure that you will have a profit I is better if you will sell your capital once the coin price increase and leave the profit alone for it to grow. By doing this you will not be affected if ever the "bubble" burst  : :P

There is no way to identify the end or the begining of the rally unless you have crisal ball. There too mayn factor that can influence the price and you can't control that. The only thing you can do is to create your own strategy and some back up plan to cover all the options and to minimize the potential loss if something like this happens. It's crucial to know what are you doing and what goal you want to achive nad always calculate the accpetable risk. And don't bother too much with predictions.

If anybody can do This, they will be bloody rich. It is impossible to pick either the top or the bottom of a market. The best strategy is to sell if you think the market is overvalued. But that doesn't mean the price won't go higher, before it crashes.

you need a proper chart for that, I don't like coinmarketcap.com charts for this purpose, they are mostly for seeing the overall change. and they lack details. use an exchange chart or sites like bitcoinwisdom that offer services like this using different exchanges.

the indications are not always easy. sometimes they go away but come back again to surprise you. but most of the times, it is slow down in the price rise, reaching a high price compared to before which is usually 20-30% higher, drop in volume, and also it is sometimes ending with a drop or one of those red candles so to speak.

There are some indications as indicators of the (short term) end of the rally for some particular coins such as bitcoin, there or litecoin.
The most effective way of predicting it according to the development and demand. For example, bitcoin may gain huge value during this month due to CME launch bitcoin futures which may affect the price to reach $15,000 by the end of the year. But, don't be greedy about something, just create a portfolio of your investment and set buy-sell order at a certain point as long as you make profits.

Thank you for this site, I can use this for my own observation. though i will not agree that you can actually predict it by just using charts and indicators though it can help you to at least be ready on the possible changes. However, to exactly identify it is really hard to do , some of the well known personalities in the field of Investment and Businesses have tried to predict and yet failed to provide a concrete and solid basis for their assumption which results to failed prediction. So for me it is really hard to identify, maybe you can use your gut feeling to decide though that's also unreliable, Strategy to generate profit while adjusting to the end of rally is much better to have rather than using charts and believing to the predictions of other people.

It could have showed you about a little dip was incoming. I meant about the little dump will be happening before the big flash crash. I just try to pick the more bitcoin around $9500 and i've generated decent profit from that. You must try to follow the market continously. the movements is very fast.

i am guessing you want to know the end of the rallies in order to sell that coin that you have bought, right?

in that case all the answers are good so i just want to add that sometimes it is best if you sell when you reach "your target" instead of waiting longer until it may or may not reach higher and risk catching a big dump.
this is more serious when we are talking about an altcoin. it is best to sell when you reach 50% profit rather than waiting for 100% and risk them dumping and you miss both 100% and 50% together.

you can always sell a small amount too. like selling an amount that gets you your initial investment. and keep the profit for higher %%

The best indicator to know the end of a rally is when you start losing money.  Lol.  :D

But seriously it's really hard to 'predict' them consistently.  So your first objective in trading should be limiting your losses, everything else is secondary.

Keep that stoploss handy, okkk?

Try checking altcoins' movement. If they all drop, bitcoin could follow.

Most altcoins are being pumped and dumped by manipulators - so any kind of analysis is useless in this case because there's very little liquidity. Indicators can only be used with some success in Bitcoin trading and a few altcoins from top 10. And getting early signals is almost impossible on crypto markets because of their volatility - it's better to try and predict the price as close to the top as possible, place an order and relax instead of watching charts constantly and trying to day trade. If you want to successfully trade smaller altcoins, it's important to learn how to buy low, because panic buying on pump is a very common mistake.

There's no way to tell the end of a rally, otherwise, we would all be rich by now. But some advices, don't use coinmarketcap as a way to know the actual price, they usually use some inflated market price and use it in the average price, which ends up with a price that differs a lot from most of the major exchanges.
But most importantly, you need to check the charts constantly, look for some real-time btc charts (or any cryptocurrency chart) and try to keep up to date with the prices.

There are no specific markers to predict the behavior of bitcoin. If such methods will be known that no one will buy bitcoins before the price hike. Think about it. You must rely solely on their personal intuition. Maybe you do not take the risk? On many exchanges, there is a possibility to open a demo account. Practice on it.

Recently, the end of a rally has been identified with a steep increase in the price and a large volume. Suddenly after, big dump to cash out all the profits. Refer to btc/usd pair 29/11 @ 5:00am, 29/11 @ 13:45... you can analyse the trends and figure it out roughly.

I see some people use fibonacci extensions as a way of predicting what price is the possible top of a rally before it would make a correction and some are able to predict what price it is in bitcoin just recently. This is just one of the indicators though because there are many things to consider when it comes to speculating the coins by doing some fundamental and technical analysis. When a coin is making a rally, you should know when its time to sell when you already have a strategy before the buying it like having a trailing stop loss so that in case it will have a sudden crash then you already secure your profit.

Ive been to trading for the past one and half year and its hard to tell weather the price will drop or it will continue to go up, there are no indication about it.
All you can do is trust on your guts that you are making the right decision, crypto currency are so volatile that why its hard to predict.

It is really hard to identify if it is already the end for a coin, but there are coins that has a specific purpose and you can check the status of their project if it is nearing success then the coin will have a chance to be more expensive. Gaining a profit in crypto currency is quite easy to achieve the only factor that you need to consider is your personal greed. How close to reality are you setting your price goal? How much are you going to sell your coins and how much profit is enough?
