Title: What best to do?
Post by: loweyboy on December 03, 2017, 11:59:31 AM
I have some BTC on a platform where they hold them in cold storage for me, I am fairly happy with their security system.
Stupidly I have lost the password and seed, don't ever remember writing it down, may have done but my memory isn't what it used to be.
I can still access them as my comp remembers the PW, to check this I set up a high sell position yesterday with no problem. So at the moment as long as nothing happens to my computer I can trade them. Concerned is where I am at.

Would appreciate any help as I am sure someone else must have been here before.

1. Would you take them off the exchange to a wallet I have control of and raise a help ticket with the platform to get my passwords sorted out or...
2 Raise a ticket with help tell them whats up and prove I can access them.
3 Anything else?

Thanks for your help

For your password since you are forgetful one and seems like have a bad memory loss, I would strongly suggest that you write your password of your account like put in a draft email. Or maybe you could write in a sticky note and paste somewhere you could see everyday in your room so that it can only be viewed by you.

check your browser settings, any kind of Internet Browser you are using it should have some section for saved password. use google search for help if you can not find it. you should be able to see what your saved password is.

or contact the support and they will guide you, it will be probably some sort of password reset using your email.

Much better to contact the support of the said website. And prove them that you are the real owner. And if your browsers remembers it. Then check the browser settings for saved password to view your saved password for that site. But if you can't recover it using the browser then much better to contact the support of the site to reopen your account in order for you to withdraw your BTC.

Thanks guys, I searched how to access my passwords and now have a copy of it, made an old man happy again.

I had no idea that the comp keeps a list of PW

Sleep happy again now :)

Well, nothing I cannot advise you, since you figured it out yourself. The only thing I can say is write down the passwords and seeds on several papers, and enjoy life.  :)
