Title: AsRock H81 out-of-the-box GPUs detection
Post by: rizabbasi on December 04, 2017, 07:47:38 AM
Hi,

Did your AsRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 detect 6 GPUs out-of-the-box or you were required to:

1) Change BIOS settings
2) Change CPU
(probably some CPUs can't detect more that number of GPUs)
3) Other, please specify

What expert quick tips I can get from the members who have 6 GPUs successful operational experience with H81.

What are windows series you are using?. if you're using a win 10, It will easier to detect all of your GPUs

Hi,

I plan to use Windows 10. Which edition/version? Would be looking for community's suggestions.

I was following this thread and seems its still a detection issue with Windows 10. Please refer this link:

It should detect out of the box even with a G1840 although I suggest a better processor like a minimum of G3240 and a recommended corei3 4130 which are almost same price with G3240.

Windows 10 Pro is the best for mining, if it doesn't detect out of the box enter in Bios change anything like PCIE slot and after the restart it will detect automatically.

My personal experience with this board is that it recognizes automatically the cards, at least that was my case with 6x RX 570 8GB Sapphire Nitro.

Thanks. Is CPU a showstopper? Reason asking is that I have a bit old CPU (not remember exactly which model). And in my part of the world its already pretty hard to find the CPUs for this board.

In Nicehash the G1840 it will run slow and sometimes crash, other than that if you use directly Claymore, EBWF it will work normally. I suggest go with minimum G3240 which is about 50-60 USD new and a lot less used if you can. It is not a showstopper.

I have G3220 Pentium 4th Gen. Would it give pain in detecting the GPUs?

No I believe it is ok, it is much better than G1840 and actually the processor doesn't play an important role in detecting hardware, the motherboard does. So as long as you have one of the best motherboards for mining it should be no problem.
