No I don't consider that as crashing, the network is just congested but instead consider this as a hiccup because of ETH and ETH tokens continuous growth. There's nothing to worry as they are always on top of their game and fixing this kind of issues. There's also an announcement made by Richie for ETH tickets related in Bittrex.

Not now! But in the future this might led to Ethereum network's failure. Just imagine there are 10 more DAPPs introduced on the network and it congestes the entire ETH network with long transactions confirmations time. They have to look for alternative solutions to the main chain soon as it will solve this problem.

This sounds right-plus the network needed to see a test before an upgrade (which might come as a critical upgrade if too many kitties are sold).

It shows a weakness in the system, but hopefully they find a way to handle the Dapps better so it doesn't affect other transactions.
Cryptokitties will only spark a trend of spin-offs and it could get pretty bad.

Ethereum network congestion has happened many times in the past too. It will go away
in next few days by itself or the devs will do a fix.

Yes, cryptocoin network congestion happened from time to time in the past, especially during ICO or period with high volume transactions. Bitcoin has similar problem. Scaling is a hot topic for all cryptocoins network.

Can you imagine if people gave up on early internet tech when it 'crashed' or had issues.

Or "World of Warcraft was laggy today.  Guess this is the end."

:P

I for one look forward to new challenges - it is what drives evolution.

well it is quite unfortunate that most people are seeing the action going on Ethereum as crash. for me Ethereum just see it as a minor, problem, which they will easily resolve as they have also do. so it should not be consider as crash.

Well, it's already up to the ether to get how he went into growth. But this is temporarily stabilized, this is even a good sign of the demand for it is growing.

I don't think it is crashing although the network is just clogged up, and this happened before with bitcoin too and I don't see bitcoin crashing anytime soon. Some people who have ethereum based tokens most likely converted or sold their coins to ethereum all at once.

Ethereum network is currently clogged, the ascent of ICOs are causing the ATH txns and some game (Eth kittens or something) have hijacked the network increasing txns more.

Unless the devs can come up with solutions, we will be experiencing this slowdown for some time.

It's just the network congestion is too much but still my transactions are going through in a timely manner. It has happened earlier as well but this time due to too many ICOs, the transaction log has increased. My TX got confirmed in less than 15 minutes with 0.000470337 Ether as fee which is still normal compared to others paying $1+ fee for getting faster confirmations. Today again my TX got confirmed in 10 minutes.

I also noticed the slow transaction yesterday when I transferred ETH and it took like 10 mins to confirm. I learnt the cause of the congestion was the crypto kitties on ethereum network.

Ethereum Network Crashing and now leading to pending and long time confirmation. Can this lead to Ethereum fall?

you are seeing these problems because Ethereum has a lot of issues and bugs and it can simply go down like this. it has happened before multiple times. each time it was as long as a week before going back to normal but it will get worse as it grows. which is partly due to its scaling issue.

some people think just because some altcoin has faster blocks and seemingly fast transactions, it is a good thing but they miss all the long term downsides such as what you are experiencing here.

it won't fall now because the issues are not yet serious and also because the whale manipulators still want their profit out of this coin and they won't let it burn that easily. but it is a doomed project that will fail miserably in the end. and there is no stopping that.

The problem is that the activity around CryptoKitties – an ethereum-based app that uses tokens to represent digital cats that can be traded, exchanged or bred to create more e-pets – has effectively clogged up the blockchain.
As a result, users - including those trying to participate in token sales via the ethereum network – are stuck with longer wait times given the plethora of transactions associated with the CryptoKitties app.

It's still better than to wait for 10 hours in case of BTC. Earlier it used to take like 1 minute and now 10 minutes to be sent from exchanges. Total time including the withdrawal and deposit is 10 minutes which is pretty fine looking at some transactions here taking 40+ minutes. That's the worse case scenario.

Just increase your gas price than it will get through, but yes it is quite congested right now. Every crypto is struggling to get better scaling solution which is quite hard to implement because of decentralization and debate around block size.

If you are trading some tokens in Etherdelta than don't forget to increase its default gas price.

Of course no, it just had little problem with the transaction and block, and maybe they are performing a maintenance service in order to make the transaction to be faster. the problem also happend because there are so much kinds of token that will be entering to ETH platform, but absolutely that's not a crash at all.

You might not believe but cats are behind this, yes literally cats! A new ETH/DApp called Cryptokitties is causing a huge congestion in ETH network. The only 2 solutions to this is either close Cryptokitties or scale up ETH blockchain, by implementing the long awaited upgrades like POS. The first option although seems easier one, but it is also the worst one in long terms. If we ban Daps just because they have become hugely viral, then it won't be good for ETH's future. Hope Vitalik is doing something regarding the current network congestion.

Crazy that one browser based cat game can bring Ethereum to its knees.

Many coins have low transaction rate capabilities it seems, Dash boasts high rate but you cant insert custom information into TX for games etc.

In my opinion, Ethereum is very close to Bitcoin in the ranking and it is not possible that something would spoil such a strong position of this coin. In my opinion, it is unrivaled and nothing is currently able to spoil it.

Killing the whole network is actually making the whole network useless or end of the network. Actually that isn't happening right now. The whole network is congested by small transactions from crypto kitties game. The best solution for this problem is to run the game on an ETH sidechain if it supports else there same problem continues.

Being congested (somewhat) does not change one simple fact:

this is no longer patience with many users, since the etherium is much faster than the time of the transaction, rather than Bitcoin. Of course, if you increase the amount of gas, the speed will increase unambiguously.

Got a bad move today while in a vacation. I just know that Ethereum are having network problems since a day or two. Transferred some coins few hours ago and I can't even see the transaction details.
It has been a crazy few days honestly, and that shows some concerns. The reason why today, people still prefer just leaving their funds in bitcoin rather than in some of these other cryptos os because they have not really experienced so much that can really make the devs to see that there is still a lot of work to do.

It might be temporary but the truth is people tend to forget the number of years Bitcoin have been in existence to correct some anomalies. Eth is just starting and the devs really still have some huge works to do on the network.

How will we even call a long time confirmation a crash ? It is normal to have congestion on a network and that goes for those who think Ethereum network is faster and cannot get congested which makes it better than bitcoin. Just the ordinary crypto-kittens have proved such people wrong now. However, it cannot lead to ETH fall, but maybe they will have to do something about an upgrade soon.

You know what op, ethereum isn't that easy to kill. It had survived a lot of trials and became better after each one. And i highly doubt that this will be enough to kill ethereum.
Killing the whole network is actually making the whole network useless or end of the network. Actually that isn't happening right now. The whole network is congested by small transactions from crypto kitties game. The best solution for this problem is to run the game on an ETH sidechain if it supports else there same problem continues.

You're right the word useless is overdoing it. But it is having it's necessary effects, and for poor or cheap people I bet they are find the eth network pretty useless right now.

I heard you will need to set the gas price at 61 GWEI. That is a hell of a lot of price for an Ethereum transaction. $5-6 for one transaction and when in etherdelta you will be doing three transactions. Deposit, Withdrawal and transfer, damn thats a lot of money to be spent for just one trade.
This is not good, they are even expensive than doing it with bitcoin.
I hope they can fix this right away.

set the 61 GWEI is very expensive, it is better to hold the coin first when the network is normal and stable you can sell it at a normal price GWEI and not harm.

CryptoKitties are creating TXs in ETH-network, so it`s busy. If you want to send TX now, you need set 40+ gwei gas price and large gas limit. But I advise you wait.

Ethereum Network is not crashing. It just delayed because there so many transactions running in the same time and it got stuck. It happened also because so many people do the transaction but only with minimum or little gas price/gas needed. It takes time if we used little gas and makes the system needs some times to ethereum chain solved. That's what i thought about it. Not chrasing just delayed.

Yes, I have encountered this problem in the past few days. Transactions seem to be difficult to verify; some transactions require more than two days to get verified. However, I do not think this will make the ethereum platform crash, there isn't clear evidence for such a conclusion, probably due to speed and quality issues during the transaction. I believe it will soon be resolved satisfactorily

Ethereum Network Crashing and now leading to pending and long time confirmation. Can this lead to Ethereum fall?
Ethereum network isn't crashing and there is no attack, but increased network traffic.
And it showes Ethereum needs further improvement.
I think Ethereum get it, but when? nobody knows exactly - maybe when  it switch to pos, or maybe another solution will be found?

What has happened? has Ethereum Network recovered? are the Ethereum project working to improve the network? I'm very surprised about that, oooooh

Its a real crashing situation about Etherium. Today I i have tried to withdraw my altcoins request and it was unsuccsesful. As I understand, this situation happens now to all ERC20 altcoins?

Ethereum network was crashing because of the crypto kittes. Many people were doing transaction and because of that there was lag in the ethereum's network but now everything is fine.

Why Ether’s price has increased so many in the last months?

The Ethereum Network becomes congested when there are more people using it, but in general, the rate of transfer is fast.
