Title: bitcoin is just fine - working as intended
Post by: static on July 02, 2011, 10:25:39 PM

can't help to notice these "bitcoin is fail" threads.

sorry if you're not getting rich because you bought a shitload of em after you saw it on a news website.

people are buying and selling goods with em.

there are exchanges that deal with em.

donations are being made with em.

it serves a purpose to all who use em.

it has some hurdles to overcome.

but in the long and short -

bitcoin will survive as long as we want it to.

...just sayin...

This is what happens when you have a community that post 3000 to 5000 posts per day. You will get some newbies who think bitcoin is going to fail.

Agreed, it's way too easy for people to get negative and try to bring this thing down when it's really just begun. Too many people thought they were going to turn a quick buck and make out like a bandit on the way up. This thing is young, give it time.

Actually it is 2043 for the computer crash isn't it?

Bitcoin was going to crash in 2063 due to being assimilated by the Borg, but Jean Luc took care of that for us so we're ok through 2400+ now.

Nope, it's January 19, 2038 (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Year_2038_problem).

I have a nice little indicator. When I get unusually large amounts of hatemail telling me how stupid I am and how ridiculous my mining contract prices are it is usually just before bitcoin exchange rate is going to double a few times. Too bad I do not speculate on the market, it would be a great indicator to trade on. BTW hatemail rates are peaking right about now.

You should start a thread and publish some of the best of your hatemail. :)

Heard the world is crashing in 2012.
You should sell everything.

Even your dog.

LOL. I'll think about it. So far I am keeping it for my bitcoin memoirs, to be published in 2020.  ;)
