Hi ! I have 12 000$ to invest, I want to hold it 1 or 2 years.

I already have 70 IOTA bought at 0.80$/unit, I want to buy more into Altcoins.

Any suggestions ?

Depends, what is your personal risk tolerance?

12 000$ good to invest. But you should concentrate on 1-3 coins, not more

I kept in mind "Invest only what you can loose", so I accept a high risk

Waves, Stratis and IOTA are on my favorite but the Market Cap are already high, I don't know if it's a good way to buy now

Here are some that I like:

Larger ones - not as much reward, I don't really go for them.

Medium ones, potential 300-500% - RCN, POWR

Smaller ones, potential 1000-2000% - HVN, SNC

Just make a investment basket from the main altcoins and you won't regret. Divide it equal between ETH, LTC, WAVES, NEO, forget it for 1 or 2 years and then check how much you've gain.

A suggestion would be to invest 50% of your money in long term coins ie, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Stellar, IOTA.

and the rest you can trade them across the market and make profit that way.

It's big investment.. I think you can buy many coins. In 2 years you can get big profits. Maybe you can get two times your earliear investment :)

For your portfolio i'd recommend buying monero, litecoin and ethereum. All 3 are having a bit of a run now though, so wait for a dip. Their 2018-2019 is very promising, so any discount price you can get in now will be worth a lot in the mid term.

I'd do 6k in Eth, out of which 2k will go to ICOs, 4k into bitcoins and 2k into futures to try and short that bitcoin.

Lucky you because now your investment in IOTA has 5x or more already.

I can't say much about suggestions because i believe in you doing your own homework. Don't rely on others to tell you about what to invest in. But i personally believe that monero may be a good time to buy in right now, so is ZCash.

Both are anonymous coins that i believe may come in handy in the future when regulations are tightening up.

These coins are not just useful for p2p, they are also very useful for very wealthy individuals to store money privately, which is extremely attractive.

12000 is pretty much to invest in only one coin. But if you want advice about my preferences I'd like to invest it in NEM. They will release Catapult soon, they have the partnership with wechat. There are a lot of another reasons for growing!

Yes, I though about this idea. But I have a big doubt about bitcoin. I think I will buy Ethereum, Litecoin for 50% and the rest on minor altcoins.

there can be a lot of thing that you can invest but if i we're you maybe you should do invest only at 1-3 coins for 50% of your investment do not invest all your money at one go because if bad happen it might lose all your money so start investing only that you can lose and last if the investment lost you also have a fail safe first is the half of the investment and second is the other coins that you invest

This is good advice, maybe even a bit more in to eth and quickly as it has passed $500 today and may not go below it again.

You may invest your money at any top-10 coin but you need to wait for a correction. All the prices at the crypto market are too high IMO.

Pretty good if you invest in some coins only, . Because for the division is not too large only a few percente. Focus for Altcoin that has good selling power in the future is quite interesting for a principle.

I also dividing that amount into 3 or 4 portions.

ICO's that you feel will be successful and the rest you can use to trade between some decent short term Altcoins.

iota has to many token its to central, stratis i dont know, waves has a good performance, the market cap is insignificant, regarding waves you have currently a market consciousness update that still didnt manifested.

waves is better cheaper and more efficient build alternative to ethereum, the market is still about to update its price up to ethereum parity which is 500 usd, with waves currently beeing close to 13 usd. and had a great performance recently

so go waves.

Invest the $12,000 on Stratis and Waves.  Split it up however you like 50/50 or 60/40. If you really plan to hold for 1 or 2 years, you will see huge profits from investing in those 2 projects.  Both projects are headed towards the top 10 ranks of cryptocurrency.  

Personally, if you plan on HODL to any long term investment coins, I suggest you take a look at ADA (Cardano). It has brilliant minds working behind this project (including the CEO Charles Hoskinson, that used to be one of the CEO's for Ethereum) and everything is still pretty new... Price is super cheap right now and can eventually grow within the next year.. Great plans for roadmap.

Make sure to HODL some ETH and BTC (if you don't have any already) as well for long term gains.

IOTA is a nice choice. I can advice you to check waves and stratis as well. You shouldnt divide your investment to so many altcoins. Try to buy only 2 or 3 different altcoins so you can follow their updates and news easily.

Invest in multiple Altcoins for max profit or throw it all in Bitcoin and HODL, either way is profitable.

Put most of it in Ethereum since it's heading to MARS !!!

Spread it and divide to what is the best altcoins that is available and legit to the market with a promising usage, price history and a dedicated team behind it, why don't you put some on btc, it's still heating up to increase in 20k by the end of the year, bitcoin is the first choice you need to look for, then the second is eth you can probably trace the top altcoins into the market because there is a reason why they are staying into the top.

Buy the half for BTC,and the other half for the alts like neo,waves,iota,lisk you would get profits in just few months.

12k is quite a big amount. If it is relatively small in your wealth, I would put half to BTC and another half split evenly on ETH, LTC and NEO

Otherwise, you may start with smaller amount and invest more when you get better feeling on the crypto trading and investment

If you are after quick profits, Bitcoin could serve you well as it has been on a steady increase this past year. A lot of potential here


For long term, I would go with Ethereum and other top 10 coins

Neo, stratis, monaco is a good investment at the moment. if i had that amount i split the amount equally in these coins. lite coin is now trading at 328$ at the moment otherwise it was a good choice at 92$ 3 days ago

I think there are some potentially potent altcoins in the future. you just need to take the time and learn from web atlcoin
some altcoin is quite influential in the stock market. such as eth, see its current value. every day slowly but surely becomes increased. and there are other coins, so I guess you should be directly involved. great for your experience

Such a good idea. I think investing of crypto coins is best investment nowadays. buy and hold good coins less than 1$ is better.
Investing Good ICOs is best. But be careful a lot of scam ICOs in market. So analyse roadmap & projects before buy it.

I would invest also in COBINHOOD AKA COB, COSS and PPT. The first two are fairly new exchanges and you will earn revenues and various airdrop coins as well. PPT is going to be huge in 2018 and it is an invoice factoring giant. BETA is going to be launched any day now. ALL these three coins will generate you revenues/passive income for holding them, so they would be a good punt for a long term hodl in my books. Next year is going to be a really exciting year for cryptos in general, especially if we pick the right horses to back. I would recommend that Eth, Waves, Neo and Etbs be buying better.These coins are very good.There team very strong.I think these coins invest safely for long-term.I have already buying these coins.

Investing on new coins is bit risky. but it is dependent on one's level of risk he could take to increase the capital and returns.

I think there are many coins that you can buy especially if you have $12,000 to invest. you need to determine invest for a short term or for a long term because there is a coin that will increase for some period of time. besides that, you need to control your emotion while you are going to see the price is up and down especially if bitcoin price is up then the altcoin will be down temporarily.

with this strategy you could have also just invested into the established stocks worldwide...

I would invest it in this way:
50% in bitcoin
40% in solid and consolidated cryptocurrencies like ethereum, dash, monero
5% in altcoin, where you can make a short term investment and also do trading if you are able to
5% in ICO (I personally suggest you to follow the ICO that will be done from the Gilgamesh (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2162600.0) Platform, this project has a top notch team, and a very active and growing community as you can see on their announcement thread)

Two years is a very long time to hold a crypto. I woudl only go for the ones which have the best of team behind them and a great community support. And Waves, Etherium and Etherium Classic are of few of these.

In bitcoin is no longer an option to invest, I would advise having 35% in eth, 25% in LTC, and the rest of the top 10 coins at 5%

Totally agree with you. I would still advise Dash, Monero, Zcash to 15% of the volume of the wallet.

12000$ is a lot of money to invest.
I would suggest you to split them in more than 3 parts and you could keep a smal part to invest in some tokens too. The cryptocurrency world is very volatile and unpredictable so be careful.
There are many opportunities and this forum is a good start for searching. Do your investigation before you buy.

1. Golem - Aims to build a distributed supercomputer (Individuals can install the software and become part of their network then research centres can use those resources)

2. Cardano - Working hard to solve the biggest problems in the industry: scalability and security (could be breakout)

3. Civic coin - Tries to deal with a real problem concerning governance. Aims to create a fair way of voting (could also be a breakout)

they look nice for long time, but i will keep my eyes at them^^

some other interesting AltCoins more for short time, i still have to pick 2-3 (30%-40%)

maybe 0-10% in 1-2 pre-sale (short time)

Here already you are in profit with IOTA coin Because you bought at 0.8$/unit but current price is now 5.27$/unit of IOTA coin , so you can understand well that how much you made succesfully i.e  Here your net profit in only iota coins is about 300$ which is not a small amount as an newbie .
Now here my suggestion for you to hold your bitcoin Because price of bitcoin is increasing fastly , so better to hold , but still if you're want more fast growth then I would like to suggest you to buy better Better coins like Etherium , Etherium classic , bitcoin cash , bitcoin gold , iota , neo for long term , otherwise you are getting profit by passive income to HODL your bitcoin only in wallet .

With 12k that's not much profit if you invest to bitcoin but with altcoint it should bring you huge return as it happen with IOTA and LTC in past.
So I will put 50% in ETH and half for trade on all trending

Considering from your statement your a wealthy man/woman. Theres one thing i want to share even for a wealthy person that even if you keep in mind something that you are willing to risk it means you rely too much or you just learning from a different point of view. I dont know what kind of person you are but if your a learning type i might applaud you for bringing such risk to yourself i commend you.

Definitely spread your portfolio to be mostly bitcoin, then pick some of the biggest alts right now and hold! The biggest alts are Ethereum and possibly Litecoin or Monero that you could invest in, I'd say that those should be increasing by the time that a few years have gone by, as long as you stay dedicated to holding it and don't let your emotions take hold of you. You're going to have tremendous losses, sometimes for months, but if you're confident in your initial decision and wait it will pay off in crypto.

I'd suggest you some Bancor and some Neo - the first is still out of favor and the second has corrected its excessive initial rise.

First of all, I would like to congratulate you on making the first step to decide to invest in cryptocurrencies. Now that you have $12,000 in hand and willing to invest, I would like to give you some piece of advice.

It's better to spread your $12,000 onto different types of altcoins. Just don't put it all in one place. As for the potential risks of price fluctuation, you should be mentally prepared for that.

I think Ethereum and Ripple are good to be invested in a long time. why not invest in Bitcoin? Bitcoin next year will surprise again and only Bitcoin which is very safe and suitable for investment in a long time. investment in altcoin is very risky

If you bought beneath 1$, good for you, but in my mind that is it!

I would buy BitcoinCash and Monero.
I was not a fan of Bitcoincash at first but now it has its advantages and I am certain that it will grow in the next year.
The same for Monero, it has its anonymity and other advantages why it is and will be widely used.

Also I would suggest CENTRA, it is hugely undervalued and definitely will go up in 3 months when they send out the Ccards.

It is true, Ethereum and Ripple.
Our analysis showed that both Ethereum and Ripple have high potential to be invested on this month and in 2018 to come. Both have been predicted as reliable  the best coin that can be relied upon among other altcoins.

I think ethereum is the best choice as a long-term investment. On the other hand, in my opinion, bitcoin is a good investment way too.
