Title: GUIminer only sees one card
Post by: afarzin on July 04, 2011, 12:19:35 AM
Tried experimenting in Windows after getting it going in Ubuntu. Installed Win7 Enterprise, all updates, driver package from AMD for my 5830s x2.
The Vision Control Centre or whatever that ATI panel is called says one card is "disabled" under sys info and GUIminer only sees one GPU. Ideas?

Is your second card connected to a monitor? There's an issue where windows won't start a card unless it's connected to one. Search the forum, there are plenty of workarounds, the easiest being detecting the monitor in the screen resolution panel and then extending the desktop to a virtual monitor.

Cheers to that! I had to make 6 dummy plugs. Radioshack loved me that day.

Just curious, would having the cards linked with the crossfire cables work in this case?  I know the cards won't work in crossfire mode for mining.  I ask this because I had a 4870 X2 (2 4870 chips on same card) and GUIMiner saw both chips no problem.  I have since replaced the 4870 X2 with a Radeon 5770 and will be getting another card or two soon.

Yes it does work if you crossfire it but does your motherboard support crossfire?
