Title: Existing Altcoin takeover
Post by: justinh.morris on December 13, 2017, 05:58:14 AM
I'm looking for taking over an existing altcoin. The coin should be listed on some good exchange. I have a bit of a scoop in terms of how it can be an attractive investment once again. Should things work out I've got reason to believe I can get some corporate backing in the mix in terms of partnerships out of the gate. Send me a message and I'll be happy to provide more detail.

Shoot me a message if you've got experience in this area and are interested.

In order to "take over" of an alt coin, you can either hardfork it or just ignore whatever activity there is, and develop things independently (this will probably result in hardfork either way). Basically if you can't handle coding it will not be you taking over but whoever you ask/hire to do so. Imagine someone will come here and say "Sure, dude, let's do it" then put some nasty malicious keygen into new wallet, change source to get premine or something even more sinister? You won't have ANY tools to detect this sort of shenanigans.

So unless you feel comfortable with coding I suggest you don't do takeovers. I understand it may be frustrating to hold huge bag of worthless shitcoins, but in my experience takeovers usually only waste efforts, bearing zero to no return for bag holders.

Out of curiosity - what coin you want to revive?

Thanks

I am not well versed with coding. However have an opportunity which requires an altcoin which have been listed on an good exchange at least 3 to 6 months back. The community would buy directly the altcoin on exchange in an ico.

Thanks for your input. and this actually looks scary.

If altcoin is already launched you either have to utilize existing coin or create a duplicate that is under your control. No 3d option. Duplicate is effectively new coin that share same features with the one you want to take over or adds to that features. It will be incompatible with the old one, so your previous tokens won't worth anythin. Or you can utilize the old one - just by investing your resource to develop promised but never delivered features yourself and promoting it and perhaps one day price will rise enough for you to sell your bag without significant losses.

You can work independently for it and ignore all other things you can do or happening withing the system. You may also hardfork it and get what you want swiftly.

Actually, I think if you have enough money, you can develop a new coin, rather than takeover an old coin, so as long as the marketing is right,  I think it will be more receptive.

Taking over an existing altcoin is a hard thing to do,you need funds,a great team and partners to overtake the existing altcoins but if you are confident start writing a good whitepaper.

At least some new coins already did it, just like cardano which take over a lot of the old platform coin just like lisk or even waves platform. When the project builds on the very reliable team and strong community and it will be so easy to spread FOMO to another community and then there will be more people try to follow it mate.

I agreed but these scenarios are rarely occuring in a year, cardano developers are working hard thats why they achieved a lot in 2017

That might be much better than doing a takeover because most people will know that the coin failed before.
