Essentially, you'd be able to buy tickets at 0.01 BTC each to enter the draw for a particular piece of art from commericial art galleries. At the end of the day, as long as the threshold (the minimum value of the artwork is met), the lottery is "on" and a winner is chosen - through verifiable methods of course. The winner can be sent instructions that are cryptographically locked with their bitcoin address (public key) through which they can verify their mailing address to be sent the painting. If the threshold isn't met after a certain length of time, i.e. one week, the deposits are returned.
