I believe that this is just the start for the ascent of Bitcoin's popularity and as Bitcoin is getting more popular we should expect the mainstream media to cover more and more about this topic which resulted of course into snowballing of curiosity for it. This is what can happen when a certain thing would soon be entering the mainstream consciousness of the greater population. Now, Bitcoin is not anymore exclusive to a small group of people but can be seen everywhere in the global context. This can also mean that more and more new people would be coming in to invest money into Bitcoin with some even mortgaging their properties (though this is not a good development as too much of anything can be bad in the long run and Bitcoin can not be exempted on this rule).

I don't like bitcoin being compared to the Kardashians in any way. By hey, since they are really famous, I say there's no love lost here. Maybe celebs are also endorsing crypto's and not only celebs but athletes and other famous people out there. So I wouldn't be surprised if bitcoin becomes the most Google-searched this year. And I don't think that its a threat to their notoriety, bitcoin has already its own issue with notoriety, and they can't be compare as well. Yes, this is just the beginning, my thought is that when bitcoin reached $10,000 this year, a lot, I mean lots of people began searching about it. And we are already lucky that we are already ahead on those who are entering the market just now.
