Title: Viabtc Accelerator Question... Is This Safe?
Post by: jerry0 on December 17, 2017, 04:07:33 AM
I sent btc using my electrum wallet.  I sent it as within 25 blocks so it wasn't exactly low fee.  But it was a bit more than that.  It shows as replaceable on my wallet but in the exchange that i sent btc to... it shows up as pending deposit.

I heard about viabtc accelerator.   I tried to put the transaction id in and the cache and submitted it right at the top of the hour but i keep getting a 502 error for some reason.

Someone tells me i can just give them the transaction id and then they can do it for me and try.  Its not this forum but another and that forum is pretty helpful with posters.  Its not a bitcoin forum.  They mentioned they did it for someone else and it worked when someone asked if they could it for them.  Can someone here confirm this would be fine?  I ask this because I sent btc to an exchange.  So when that person enters my transaction id in viabtc acceleration and it goes through, the exchange would not know someone else tried to do the viabtc accelerator for me right?   Like would the exchange notice okay i sent btc to the exchange but it got accelerated by someone else?

There's really no risk, other than their website being hacked and you downloading g malware or something like that. I mean, that could happen on any site though, so just use good judgement.

Basically, they'll include your transaction in the next block that they mine. They don't have a massive mining pool but it's a pretty big one so if you sent a very low fee (at least 10 sats/byte) you should be able to accelerate it.

Try accelerating your tx right on the hour. Apparently that's when they accept more. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't though and I'm not sure why. There could be a daily limit, although I don't know.

Hi there.  Im not talking about getting hacked on that website.  I mean if i give the transaction id to a person and they can do it for me by entering the transaction id on viabtc to get my transaction accellerated.

The reason i ask this is because someone on another forum had an issue with this and then posted his transaction id.  Then that person told him he entered the transaction id and it went through.  Then the other guy said yes it got confirmed.

So i want to make sure if thats fine if i give him the transaction id.  Thus you could post your transaction id... and someone else can put it on viabtc for you etc?

you do realize that when you send a transaction, everyone in the world sees your transaction, right? both the ID and the raw form with your public keys and everything!
so there is no risk in the sense that you are thinking.

the only possible downside is losing your privacy! for example if you give your transaction to someone, that someone can see that particular transaction belongs to you and with it he can see your addresses, balance and where you sent bitcoin to. that is all!

Within 25 blocks is going to be a pretty low fee, as that is going to take some time to actually go through. But back on topic here, viabtc is a safe site -- they're not going to do anything to hurt you nor hurt your machine. They're just trying to help by pushing your TX through their own miners as a curtosity to people.

Plus it does get them more people on their site and probably more customers for whatever they do.

Just wait, site could be having problems as of now.

Hey there thanks for the replies.  Yes i noticed when you put the id, it shows your balance and where you sent btc etc.

Within 25 is going to be slow... then what is average?  I believe electrum when i had it on dynamic fees to within 10 blocks.  Is that average?

Think of 1 block as taking 10 minutes.

Although I got mine accelerated an hr ago and it still hasn't gone through (the fee was 134 too  :-\ )

There is absolutely no reason why you can't provide your txid for someone or some company for them to accelerate your transaction. As long as you are not paying any fees for a free service then you shouldn't get scammed by anyone.

The main reason why you should be concerned with using ViaBTC or other paid accelerators is whether or not they are able to deliver their promises on time. It could take just as long for confirmations, if you're using a fake one. But Viabtc is a legit site.

Also, within 25 blocks is extremely low. 25 blocks should actually be around 150 blocks, so electrum is wrong.
