Title: Recover Bitcoin Address from Passphrase
Post by: MarcusThenaar on December 17, 2017, 03:45:24 PM
Hey everyone,
i'm looking for help if possible..
back in the days (2013/2014) i mined some coins using the the Slush Pool, and i had a wallet where the coins were with the old version of Bitcoin Core.
Right now the computer where the wallet was, has been already formatted two or three times, and the only thing that i still have is the Passphrase....

Is there any possibility to get access to my wallet or is lost forever?

I know that these are not so many informations, but...

Thank you very much

Marco

Unless, you can recover the wallet.dat, then the password is useless and you've lost your Bitcoin. You could potentially recover the wallet.dat using a few recovery programs, but since it's been a long time and you've been writing to the hard drive since it's very unlikely that you'll find anything salvageable.

Of course, that's assuming by "passphrase" you mean the password, and not the private key. If you have the private key you can recover the address which contains the Bitcoin.
