Title: Are linux .bitcoin files interchangable with windows AppData\Bitcoin? Post by: PandaMiner on July 04, 2011, 10:54:06 PM I would like to know if I can export / copy my Ubuntu (live usb) bitcoin client, wallet, and block chain, into a Windows PC.
Is it possible? Title: Re: Are linux .bitcoin files interchangable with windows AppData\Bitcoin? Post by: Xenland on July 05, 2011, 03:17:19 AM I'm pretty sure they are all compatible although I only have experience for copying my personal wallet.dat file. That works every time.
Personally I delete my wallet.dat file every time I log of my computer and store it on a usb stick(Quick tip from Xenland :) Title: Re: Are linux .bitcoin files interchangable with windows AppData\Bitcoin? Title: Re: Are linux .bitcoin files interchangable with windows AppData\Bitcoin? Post by: PandaMiner on July 05, 2011, 10:56:20 AM I don't think that's possible. My wallet data file is 100 KB, while the block data files are 343 MB and 155 MB, for a total of 498 MB.

I use to input the blockchain from my windows desktop to my linux boxes (so I don't have to go dload it again by p2p) and never had issues. Just that normally I don't pass the wallet.dat along, but I believe it's ok also. Title: Re: Are linux .bitcoin files interchangable with windows AppData\Bitcoin? Post by: PandaMiner on July 05, 2011, 12:13:40 PM I can confirm that I did it. It worked for me, but in reverse. I placed my windows' full block chain (two blk*.dat files) into my linux .bitcoin folder. The block chain on linux was previously 134229 and it was then 134865 instantly.
