So litecoin is continueing to grow after some people believed it would drop back, its at 350+ dollar at the moment and highly expected to reach 500 dollar in 2017

one of the reasons its seeing a pump right now again is because it appeared on CNBC fast money today with Brian kelly telling he bought some litecoin and him mentioning the reasons why he did that and why he thinks litecoin is a good currency:

I am pretty sure this is one of the catalyst why Litecoins price is growing, getting free advertisement is always good. Also I really think that because of the Bitcoin and Ethereum network congestion right now some people that use crypto everyday are switching to other good coins like Litecoin. It is a good option since it has cheaper transaction fees and faster transaction time.

i agree with this statement. litecoin is showing its existence. from yesterday and now its price keeps rising from 308,87USD to 352,38 USD.

I don't think that a coin grows because someone mentions in media. Litecoin has merits of its own (plus there are other alts that have grown significantly - even much more than LTC lately, that have not been featured in the news, such as ICON).

Yeah obviously it has many advantages of itself. but the media is helping to get that known to the world, people who don't know about litecoin have to hear about it before they can notice the merits it has and use it, so the media coverage is helping allot to give this coin the credits it deserves as it's highly under valued in my opinion. It's getting better these days and hopefully it's only the beginning. i mean if bitcoin can reach 20k then litecoin should def deserve more then 300 imo.

Yes, I totally agree with your opinion. Litecoin is one of the potential coins which has many advantages can replace Bitcoin in the future. And no doubt when it raises up every day. The prediction is $500 can be done before June, 2018

Good things will happen to LTC. Ecosystems have seen major technological developments over the past few months. It would be interesting to see Litecoin compete with Ethereum. It is not clear how it will happen.

Well the appearance of litecoin in mainstream media might be the reason of price boost of litecoin but i still can't remove the fact the some investors were moved to litecoin due the fact bitcoin transaction fees are very high and the transaction confirmation time is very slow that might took the advantage of litecoin and attracted the investor who were looking for lower transaction and fast confirmation times anyways litecoin is very undervalued coin so a little love will do.

It is not hard for litecoin to increase since it had the most usage against all cryptos.
I think it just deserves a better value than any coins.

The sad part actually is why it just happened now. Do we really need to see bitcoin grow first before this altcoins can also be seen.
It should be more valuable than what it is now and yet it being harassed to go back down.

Sorry but many other coins have the features you mentioned as well. I love litecoin but the fact remains, other coins have better features like:

*technical lead over litecoin
*faster confirmation time than litecoin
*accepted at more merchants than litecoin

Im happy for litecoin's success but I don't see any new innovations that will change the cryptocurrency world. I'm buying into the LTC pump but only to increase my BTC.

I think the bad of this is, if people get more into litecoin it's price and network will collapse as the btc does.

if viewed then I can not believe that coins grow because someone mentions in social media and continues to grow rapidly without limits and I think it's best. and Litecoin has its own advantages and added there are other alternatives that grow significantly - even more than LTC these days, which are not yet in the news and many are mining the Litecoin (LTC) and they are getting a very profitable profit and I'm sure going forward litecoin will be much more developed than before.😉

Yes, absolutely. Also, since the slowdown with ETH, I have been converting to either LTC or DOGE to transfer my funds between exchanges. I think there are many others doing the same thing. I am absolutely not surprised that there has been a spike in both coins' prices lately. Fast transactions, low fees and accepted on many major exchanges - what's not to love!

I think DASH it better, but LTC is impressive

litecoin has a bad trackrecord of breaking the worst when hitting all time high rates... though it has potential background.. still it has physcological problems of investors... because its considerd as crpyo silver and we all know that people dont give much importance to silver than gold in the real world and crypto world....

Litecoin is growing because it is the replica of bitcoin, and that was the main purpose of why they created this altcoin on the past, because they wanted it to be the silver version of bitcoin.

I couldn't find any strong reason behind the recent pumping, simply unnatural. I've heard this from few people, it is also pumping. You might buy it and take the opportunity.

litecoin replica bitcoin seems very different. but I think litecoin will achieve success like bitcoin is not impossible, because the large volume of litecoins and pasr litecoin always busy buying and selling can make the development of litecoin very good in cryptocurrency.

More like, alts are being pumped while bitcoin is consolidating. It's always the same thing and there is nothing special about this pump or litecoin. Doesn't matter much who appeared where. Although it helps that litecoin is one of the few alts in coinbase. But expect a dump once bitcoin gets moving again.

The price of litecoin will continue to grow. At least before they officially announce futures contracts. The market as a whole shows growth. Also, there are news about other companies' support for litecoin. So the next month, I think, we will see new peaks in the coin value.

I can suggest that nowadays Litecoin's price growth has 3 reason:

• 1. technical lead over bitcoin
• 2. fast confirmation time
• 3. lower  price than BTC has

Not everyone who's investing in cryptocurrency would like to buy 0.01, 0.001, 0.0001 half of a coin. The most of us prefer the whole numbers such as 1, 2 ...100 etc

Yet silver is the metal many will recognise as being day to day currency, in use upto a few decades ago.  Where as gold was only really for asset store or larger transactions for centuries.

Litecoin has always been the understudy to Bitcoin, now its the change to step up while fees and slow transactions keep Bitcoin on its sick bed. Someone asked above how it will compete with Ethereum, the answer is simplicity.  Ethereum's USP is the smart contract, when I want to just transfer funds thats usually not necessary and Litecoin (or others) does the same thing.

they spread free ltc that's why it grow and good developer of coins like btc and eth.So we need to monitor it also like eth now because it keep growing little by little,i think in the future it will be like eth also it's focus in simplicity and low current usage to do transaction,There's a lot possibility in ltc all we need to do now is save some now then wait this in the future to grow.I think always update in news about ltc then if the coins will not go well like the price is go down don't panic in that time because it's already trusted coins like btc and eth.

Apart from being valid comment for about 1000 other coins  :D  I think you've overlooked the reasons stated here, the history and the recent events.  Its gained prominence because its stepped into fulfill Bitcoin's original role as currency (cf Steam ). It's available on entry exchanges like Coinbase, and doesn't have the delays and fees.  If you take a longer view on LTC/BTC its actually just catching up with previous levels in the summer

- problem with litecoin is price and now we see it’s going up.

I totally agree with it. Bitcoin is like gold that you store away to sell for a profit one day. You don't transact with gold at the supermarket. But Litecoin is much faster and cheaper than Bitcoin and therefore a more day-to-day currency. I can totally see it gaining more traction as day-to-day cryptocurrency spending becomes mainstream. Many people use it already to send funds between exchanges. MUCH cheaper and faster than Bitcoin.

With that said, it has a few competitors like Bitcoin Cash. It's going to be a race to see which one wins.

People buy litecoin, because it officially took steam, they abandoned bitcoin, for the sake of speed of transactions. Litecoin corresponds to this.

Actually that happened due to dump in altcoins market , after increase in the speed market of bitcoin , people started to buy those 3-4 years high potential coins , And as we know that in field of cryptocurrency field we have many high potential coins like monero , Etherium , dash , Etherium classic , Digibyte , xvg , doge litecoin etc all these coins are high potential coin and each coin rise by atleast 40%+ ( we can see in past graph of this week , where net increase in up of graph  of market of these coins ) .
And why this happened we comes to know easily that , due to increase in bitcoin's price , many people started to make investment in better coins , so that they can make big profit easily .

i hear that charlie lee are sell all his litecoin to the market. i think it will make litecoin become worse and it would be good chance for new investor to buy and hold.

The recent  growth of Litecoin can be attributed to it's massive advertisements and publicity, litecoin is being given massive exposure and some people belief that the recent surge in the price of bitcoin will also occur with litecoin thus many investors are pumping in funds into litecoin also it easier to buy a whole litecoin than fraction.

For the past few days  we see Litecoin consistently in the top 5 most traded crypto currency in the market though most of its feature were already common in other crypto currency such as Fast confirmation time and lower price than BTC but the advantage for litecoin so far is being featured in some financial tv network which boost awareness of other people how Litecoin works. Social awareness and commercial ads was one of the main reason why LTC was keep growing and growing

 Litecoins are widely recognized, acknowledged, and accepted as a currency will likely surge in value as a result. If more merchants and online platforms such as Steam continue to integrate Litecoin, and casual users in the cryptocurrency market begin using the cryptocurrency for smaller payments, Litecoin could compete against other cryptos in the short-term to evolve into an alternative to bitcoin.

I have read several articles claiming that Charlie Lee sold all his lite coin. If this information is correct, then maybe litecoin will not be developed anymore. I think the value of it will go down

He did sell his litecoin but not because he is abandoning the project. Or because the project won't be developed anymore. LTC has been sold by its founder, and I have lost confidence in this token. Maybe I will never buy LTC again.

Litecoin is still growing because litecoin transaction is faster then any another coins like bitcoin and ethereum so that it is growing

Maybe this is the time for litecoin have some increase over BTC so lag behind altcoin and ETH.

The reason why light coin still grow because light coin has prove to be one of the most stable vertual currency and most of investors and user are believed.
Light coin is provide a faster and more efficient payments system than bitcoin,which has its value considered more as an investment than a currency.
Light coin are still up one of the best performing cryptocurrencies.
