Title: Please Review My Bitcoin Mining Tutorial, And Get Me Of Here!
Post by: TeraPool on July 05, 2011, 08:45:35 AM
Hello!

Please look over my bitcoin mining tutorial (https://terapool.com/how-to-mine-bitcoins.php) and leave a comment if you see any faults with it.

I want to make it as accurate as possible.

Obviously I will make it look a bit better, and it's not 100% finished (still a chapter or two to go).

But any suggestions, comments or criticisms you may have (however harsh!) I would highly appreciate.

Thank you for your time, and please (mods!) get me out of the Newbie section ASAP. Obviously I am not one :P

You've got some spelling errors, for example in §1.3 (correction bold):
Quote
In a sense, we all do! Anybody who is willing to participate and support the bitcoin community is a controlling interest.

Furthermore, in §4.1 you state the necessity for Computer Mouse, Monitor, Keyboard and a monitor cable. However, you don't really need these, since modern boards usually support network booting, so you can install pretty much any linux distro via ssh. A beginner probably won't be able to do this without help, but since additional hardware costs money, and learning this stuff is pretty useful, you should include a remote setup tutorial. Also since the user reading your tutorial has most likely internet access, he already might have these components, or very likely could just install the mining system on the USB-stick and continue configuring and administrating the rig via ssh once the stick is bootable.

Thank you.

Yes please point out any spelling errors you find!

You are right about the netbooting... but the guide will progress into asking users to simply install a persistent linuxcoin drive on USB and go from there. I am not about to teach everybody how to ssh and use linux commands but I will offer links.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
