There is a hard cap in the code but there is no real limitation of maximum coins.

Neo8: You "might" consider changing the name, as if you put NeoCoin on google, it is already a currency on which you get paid NeoCoins for clicking ads or something similar from what I read. Just to avoid confusion maybe, take it or leave it just pointing that out in case you did not see it  ;D

If this is just a small group beta test and then a new genesis block released afterward with a public release would be fine, if not making an exclusive club for your coin is just going to make it DOA.

The possibility to include messages inside the blockchain could provide a lot of fun.
It will be interesting to see how people exploits this feature.

If the developping skills are as good as the photoshopping and webdesign skills, then this coin will rule the world by the end of the year. I am really really sure!

I'm not sure you can take the blade runner 2 banner, slap "neocoin" on it and write "Copyright © 2013 neocoin.org" at the bottom of the page.

Let's see what the actual client looks like - on the 256-colored GIF most images seem a bit stretched or out of place/proportion. However, any improvement over the original client is an improvement - the bitcoin client really needs some web 2.0 rounded edges and stuff.

An update on the situation.

I received many personal messages. I am replying to the messages, slowly but surely, but unfortunately we can't be partners with everybody. I will select the most significant. The download will start when mining pools are ready. It has to come in the right order.

I think everybody recognizes and knows the image is from Blade Runner, this image is famous and it's a nod to this great movie but the website will be rebuilt in the future.

I'd rather solo-mine right now than wait for partners to get a pool up.  :P

+1, without more tech details this coins seems to provide more marketing FUD than any other innovations.

General question:  I know some other coins can have transaction notes in the blockchain so there may be some discussion on this, but wouldn't this significantly increase the size of the blockchain if everyone adds a note to each transaction?

yes. i've bitched about this on everycoin with transaction messages since florincoin did it first. a worthless feature that bloats the block chain.

Bitcoin's alert system and Push technology are two different things.

An alert system is a simple message about critical network problems.

The Neocoin push technology delivers alerts as well as information like statistics with rich
media such as images.

But this is not the only innovation in the software.


Well, messages have a small size (max. 140 bytes) relatively to the size of a block in the chain, the current bitcoin block size is 500KB. Cryptocurrencies with low fees or sites like SatoshiDice are more "dangerous" for the block chain than comments...

Somethings wrong with this coin,  at first i tried the autominer, but this is supposed to be a scrypt coin and the autominer isnt set for scrypt so all i was getting was rejected.  Then i set the settings on the autominer to scrypt and I started finding blocks but they dont get credited to my wallet, it says generated but not accepted.  Whats up with that?

There is no problem with synchronisation but your config file is wrong.
Delete* everything in the Neocoin data directory and Remove all nodes in your config file, you do not need add nodes.

Indeed, if you run the server mode, you need a config file. There is no problem with synchronization, but delete* everything in the Neocoin data directory and it will download and re-index the blockchain.

Where is the block explorer?

HEY only 5000000000000000% variance wow after 40000000 orphans

My pool gets a lot of orphans, sometimes over 50% with maybe 20 orphan blocks in a row. Some of my miners have reported this is occurring in other pools as well. Block notifications are working correctly on my servers end so looks to be coin related. Any chance of some investigation into this or is NEC dev pretty much dead?
