Title: If you knew Bitcoin would never change in value, would you buy it?
Post by: Rileycat on December 20, 2017, 04:14:22 PM
If it were guaranteed that the price of bitcoin would stay the same as it is today, would you still buy it?  My guess is, the answer is no. But if its value lies in being a currency, price stability is essential. And if your answer is no, how is it then not just a Ponzi scheme? In other words, everyone is buying it on the hope of someone paying more for it in the future, not to use it as a currency.

Bitcoin price  is volatile and gold price also used to be really volatile in early days but when its market got matured volatility also decreased.  Same might happen to bitcoin when its marketcap will be in trillions, price might not fluctuate as it do right  now.

Bitcoin  is store of value rather than payment gateway right now.

I don't care about the price. Bitcoin is so much more its a whole new system that the whole world will use as a payment method in a few years.
so my answer is yes i would still buy it since i want to support this new system.

What's the point of buying it if it won't grow? I'd rather buy Ethereum that will definitely grow in next years.

I would say no, but that does not make it a ponzi scheme. If anything you could argue it is used as a speculative asset but not a ponzi scheme as there is no promise for returns etc.

I'm guessing the question he's really getting at is whether Bitcoin can be a viable method of currency on its own right without the stock-like behavior of appreciating in value over time. Ordinary currency for example will actually depreciate (time value of money), which is the opposite of what Bitcoin does, yet we use that in everyday payments for anything and everything. If Bitcoin were to be more like regular money, would it still be as popular?

I think the answer to this is really dependent on the availability (including how easy it is to get it), learning curve of its use,  and of course on the transfer fees/timing. That stuff really kills any transaction you make with it. I mean I had to pay ~$23 or so last night just to transfer my own Bitcoin into my own wallet. Can you imagine if someone asked you for 23 bucks every time you put Dollar bills in your own pocket? That's the kind of hurdle it would need I think to be viable as just a regular currency with no price volatility.

Not everyone is hoarding all the coins they buy. I regularly buy coins on the dip and then I hoard about 80%. The remaining

20% are being used for daily food and drinks purchases at one of our local Pubs. We use it both as a store of value and as a

currency. I would have spend that money on food and drinks in any way, why not pay with Bitcoin. {We pay in advance and

receive a credit on the Book, to avoid tx delays in payment confirmation}  ;D

Well, one of the key factors why people buy and invest on bitcoin is that it change it's value and it uprise it's price. This gives much excitement to those who use it. So I think when it's value will not change, people may not be encourage to buy or invest on it anymore. Also, bitcoin is known for how it is from the very start.

If bitcoin or any other crypto-currency is being used today as a method of payment, I will buy it for that purpose, a convenient way of paying goods and service.  But if you look to it like an investment and you know that it is going nowhere, then I will not buy it.  Why invest in something you are absolutely know that it is trash.

I would say that if bitcoin price becomes stable, then most of the newbies who buy bitcoins with the dream of getting rich would just sell their bitcoins and fly away from this network.Mostly the old investors would continue to hold.It would be continuously used as a currency for payment.Since the huge volume of transactions would get reduced as most investors leave the network, once again transactions my start getting confirmed quickly and transaction fee would decrease considerably to reach its normal fee.But traders would also lose interest in trading bitcoins.

Here's a simple explanation why bitcoin will still be popular and will still be brought by other even its value is static. Bitcoin will still be brought since it will be focused on being a currency rather than being an investment or passive income, and the other reason is cryptocurrency, even if bitcoin price is stable altcoin won't be stable too since they are made for profit and other things so in able to buy altcoin bitcoin will be brought first because it is mainly used to buy altcoin. Bitcoin will still be as popular as now even if the value don't change, and it will even gain more priority by government because it is stabilized and has the standards of a good currency.

To be frank, some people just want to make more and more bitcoins i mean more and more profits and fill our wallets. And if we really knew that bitcoin has a fixed value then i would personally not use bitcoin or not buy them because if it's price was stable, then due to it's specialty of being a decentralized currency, there would be misuse of it. And some where we'll also have a part in it. So if i knew that bitcoin prices were stable i personally wouldn't prefer bitcoins.

Yes, because regardless of Bitcoin changing its value, we know that the future of all fiat currencies is to go down. :-*

Btw, that condition by itself implies that Bitcoin will continue to go up.

There are two kinds of people who buy BTC  and both of them has the same goal of Bitcoin to be high in price in future. The first person invests in Bitcoin blindly and hope for it to gain in price as more people keep buying BTC. Their goal is achieved in one way or other as BTC keeps breaking records. The other kind of people knows how potential BTC is and they know that BTC technology will make it worth a lot more ans that's why they invest in BTC. As developments are made BTC achieves more number of investors. So whether or not people buy it for any reason the price of BTC keeps increasing and that's why it is always wise to buy some BTC.

If the price of Bitcoin did not change, if it was fixed one unidad, I would buy it, provided there were merchants that they would accept as payment. But I believe that if that were the case, few people would want to buy Bitcoin, because nowadays what attracts people most to buy Bitcoin is undoubtedly the possibility of making a profit (in the long term) with valuation.

In fact if bitcoin would be stable or no volatile it would be more used by banks and all other companies because you have a fixed price, it could work as the US value only that digital.
That is why USDT was created for, but it is impossible to use it because it has been manipulated a lot by just one company, bitfinex.

Yes your guess is exactly right. I'm not gonna buy it if the price or the value would never change. If you use the word "stable" then my answer would be Yes. The value of every currency changes every day. If it doesn't then it's a dead currency. This changes does not mean they are unstable. They changes every single day but they are a stable currency. So, if the value of the bitcoin become stable then I would still buy it.

  • Borderless Value Transfer.

Yes of course. These days, buying it as a currency is not a big deal but in terms of investment Bitcoin still has advantages due to it's characteristics of being a decentralized currency even if we will compare it in the sense of being like a stable digital currency unlike today which is Bitcoin which is the most volatile digital money. Through it Bitcoin still has a bright future as an online investment asset. People will be more interested in it in terms of security and privacy.

I think the answer is no only and to be honest if the price would have stayed as it is today then nothing could have moved really. I mean no body would have bough it so price would have been ultimately dropped to something may be few dollars or kind of.

No it won't be called as Ponzi schemes because the Ponzi is stuff where actual project is shown to be in working mode but when we make investment into it and when they don't pay us back then that called as Ponzi.

I think many people are buying it because of its good development and strategy of future and half of them are there to grab the profits as you said.

Mostly not, as there are many investments that have a good value which are also not affected by such fluctuations as bitcoin does and can be traded more easily  with laymen in general. If it is had a bit more support back then I would have considered buying a small amount.

If I know that the bitcoin price will not change and will be constant, then there will be no reason to buy it for the expectation of profit due to the growth of its value. It is this bitcoin property that makes it now attractive for investment.
In this case, bitcoin can be used simply as a means of payment. However, now it is unprofitable to use bitkoyn purely as a payment instrument. Infrastructure for this is not yet developed, few people take bitkoyn as payment. In addition, there are certain difficulties with bitcoin transactions. Considering all this, in that case there will be no sense in buying and using bitcomun.

It is currently unusable as a currency for ordinary purchases, with the high fees you need to be spending a lot to make it even remotely worthwhile.

So yes my answer is no, I'm buying bitcoin for its future value and possibly for its utility if it improves in the future, but I am more bullish on altcoins which actually do something useful.

Probably yes, given that I'm trying my very best to avoid placing my money in the banks and bitcoin is the only solution for me to be able to control all my funds without having any questions asked. The notion that bitcoin is just a ponzi scheme has been around for ages, however they fail to realize that there is no central operator for bitcoin that pays out older investors; it's just that people are agreeing about the price that's why they're buying it, and isn't that the same thing going to USD? It isn't even backed by gold anymore, and the people all over the globe are just agreeing that it has some form of value because the government says so..

Oh and btw, there are some traits that bitcoin has that fiat doesn't. You need to read more about that in order to answer your question as well.

If the btc price keeps unchanged,  it does not decrease then the buyers of it are definitely just those who need to use btc exchange for daily payment needs. Traders will probably move from btc investment to other altcoins, such as ETH or LTC, etc.

In my opinion, bitcoin prices will have movement in early 2018 but if bitcoin prices will still exist, I will still buy bitcoin if we look at the circumstances other countries currently have legalized bitcoin for the sale of goods in the country with bitcoin such as japan. so the future of bitcoin is likely to be many legalized countries for digital payment methods that will be used worldwide so I will still buy it even if the price is fixed because I want to support the payment method using bitcoin in the future.

It is a refuge of value, it has an intrinsic value that does not have the fiat money that they simply print it, besides they are only 21 million coins and of which 3 million were lost, in some future when the majority of the people buy or know them surely it will behave like currency, but analyzing decentralized markets nothing can have a fixed value, the value is given by the market.

Yes! I would still have use for it as a method of payment and storage of wealth. It would actually be very useful for me to have something that didn't change in value.
For me it's also much easier to use than a bank account for example, and more secure than a credit card.

I'm not using Bitcoin purely because of its ever-increasing value, otherwise I would have left back in 2013 after Mt. Gox crashed.

If it were locked with the USD for example it could still be something to purchase for people who wanted to keep government/banks out of their business or who knows it could have some other benefit, but so far the fees kill any benefit for that. If that went away then it could definitely work at a constant price.

Another factor is the limited supply. If Bitcoins could be created the way the government can just print money into circulation, then it would be a different story.

I think it is not good if the price of bitcoin will not change. In order to attract investors, the volatility of bitcoin's price is useful. It is good to know that everything always change and accept the fact that there are sometimes bitcoin will floor or goes high. I think it is good enough to see bitcoin moves specially if you just get started to invest. You will wait the time until the price down. Trading is not recommended if bitcoin never change. No changing, no gaining of bitcoin.

I think the main reason why so many people are investing in cryptocurrency is because of the price that might change after a long period. The price volatility is the fator that convinces people to put their money in btc. And as it grows more people are getting involved so I think btc won't be a big hit in market if its prive is stable.

It is good for bitcoin to be a volatile because we can still buy now and hoping that it will climb so high in the future. But if the price of bitcoin become stable maybe there is low demand because no one can buy because they can't make more profit even if they invest big amount of bitcoin.

It is good for bitcoin to be a volatile because we can still buy now and hoping that it will climb so high in the future. But if the price of bitcoin become stable maybe there is low demand because no one can buy because they can't make more profit even if they invest big amount of bitcoin.
Yes you're right. No one would be interested to make investment in bitcoin because it will not make profit anymore. So what's the use of buying bitcoin when in the first place its price will never grow and it won't make good profits to the investors.

Many people not consider Bitcoin as currency anymore, most of them already consider Bitcoin as investment, that is why they don't mind Bitcoin price being fluctuated, if the price become stable, people will still used Bitcoin as currency but it won't be too many people using it

I won't and i would rather put myoney on the bank where it will be more secured. Investments are ought to be profitable and good investments' market value are supposed to be increasing. And if bitcoin's price won't, I think there's no reason to choose it than banks. Profit is what made people to invest here, nothing more, nothing less.

I will still do, because that is actually the very intention of bitcoin at the beginning to be a digital currency unlike today which makes bitcoin as a speculative asset. With its current price, it is not feasible again to do transaction with it, $20 for a single transaction? No thank you, there are plenty cheaper options out there. It is also the reason why LTC has been tripled recently I think

Being volatile of bitcoin is good due to its pump and dump atleast we earned and make a profit on it.If price of bitcoin would be stable maybe many investors would stop to invest on it and many users of bitcoin  stop to use it, the value became worthless because there is no flactuations that will happen. But for me I would still use bitcoin and work for it atleast I earned a lot from it even though its value was stable.

What's the sense of investing if don't gain profit right? So the answer is no. I will not buy bitcoin if the price of it is not increasing. Of course the reason why we are buying is to gain profit right? So its nonsense if we are just buying for nothing. But I know it is far to happen that bitcoin will just stay at the same value.

If the exchange rate of the BTC remains unchanged, it is no different to the dollar and other currencies at the present time, no one will buy it for holding. The current BTC is a kind of lucrative asset similar to gold, but the exchange rate of BTC is much higher than gold. People will tend to buy Bitcoin on the holding then wait for the exchange rate and then sell to make profits and then switch to dollars, but few Bitcoin users to trade the product.

In the first place, I am fascinated with bitcoin because of continues increase on its value and a good source of income, In my point of view fluctuations are cause of investors who spend much money to own a piece of btc, everyone who indulge with it are earning huge amount and spread the good news to the majority, I may not be able to enter on this type of business without them, The question is, "If bitcoin would never change in value, would i buy it? Well in that case, I buy bitcoin to earn income. If not then better say "NO".

I think the price stability is a process. Now the encrypted currency is still in the early stages of development. It is believed that after a period of development, the price of bitcoin should be stable at a higher price. It is not a Ponzi scheme, and all the other coins are supported by bitcoin. It is now combined with many practical projects.

Yes,I would buy it. Actually, I always wish for the price of bitcoin to remain stable so that I can easily pay for goods and services and also get paid for doing some online jobs, just the way it was for me in the final quarter of 2016 before the value started skyrocketing by 2017. Now it's becoming more difficult to transact with bitcoin as I used to due to congested network caused by backlog of unconfirmed transactions and also high transaction fee.

yes, because today the price of bitcoin is high so it's hard to buy here and bitcoin does not pay too much because its price is too high, because I just dropped its price by buying it at its high price you can get lost and you do not have to earn in bitcoin, but I think that's normal just because lots of bitcoins are buying and there are so many users here so the price is high.

Everyone seems to forget the real reason why Bitcoin was created. I would still buy it as long as bitcoin can serve its purpose as a decentralized, peer-to-peer system of digital currency. Although transaction fees and confirmations are a bit of a problem right now, if we apply that bitcoin's value will never change, then there shouldn't be a problem.

I would because it is nice to have a form of money that you control. I think it would be popular even if stable but it would take a lot longer to be adopted. The greed in this market is insane at the moment and driving the price.

YES! However your point about the price stabilizing to be a currency is largely true however, ALL currencies do have some fluctuation in price to each other. I have done international business and I can tell you the fluctuations are extremely apparent when you do international transactions between two stable countries' currency.

Also your ponzi argument is flawed by the way. Who sets the price to the USD or the EURO and who sets the price to gold? By your definition all of those are ponzi's especially gold. Think about it do people buy gold waiting for the price to go up. Who causes the price to go up? Other buyer's right?

This can be said about the stock market too. Who says a certain stock is worth XXXX amount of dollars per share. How does that price get set? What do you get for that price? I'll tell you. You get proxy ownership of a company but if they don't pay a dividend all you have left is proxy ownership that will never give you anything unless you sell it to someone else who was willing to pay more than you paid.

Crazy world if you think about it.

Yes, because regardless of Bitcoin changing its value, we know that the future of all fiat currencies is to go down. :-*

Btw, that condition by itself implies that Bitcoin will continue to go up.
Good point. How can Bitcoin not change its value when all fiat currencies are losing value? You will need more fiat do buy Bitcoin as time passes...

But since crypto currencies or any of them will be having a fluctuating value as it is their natute and majority appreciate through time buying and holding is something that will help many people to earn weĺl.

You miss the key points of Bitcoin. Well, it's never too late to learn:
  • Censorship Resistant Transactions;
  • Permissionless Value Transfer;
  • Borderless Value Transfer.
Very concise. That's exactly what Bitcoin is supposed to do, and so far it has fulfilled its functions very well.

Unfortunately, only 5% of newbies get it, and the percentage of those who grasp the implications of it is even smaller.

As an investment people will slowly stop buying like we see today but it will be used more as a currency for daily payments and purchases. The dollar does not have a high volatility but it is still invested in and used all around the world.

No matter how much we deny that bitcoin is not exactly made for trading,It is for P2P transaction only.It should be use to buy goods as a normal currency. But it is not the case.Everyone who is investing their hard earn USD or any fiat to buy bitcoin are thinking that they will get a good return,If the prices would not change or if people get to know that prices will go down who will make loss.If they are losing what they have given also, how can even they use it as a currency.Because ultimately what matter is profit irrespective of its use. It's on people what they want to do we can't control that and i don't think there is any harm to bitcoin if people buy them in hope of getting more when they sell.

Your statements are incomplete. You say in title about value and then you say about the price.
If the value would stay the same most smart people would invest in Bitcoin. Because fiat decreases in value over time, including the Dollar, so Bitcoin would mean the best means for safe keeping.
Even with keeping the price and not the value would mean a good place to hide money, to store money for the kids, to transfer big amounts of money fast and cheap, to avoid embargo and so on. So... many have reasons to buy Bitcoin as long as it doesn't fall.
You need some imagination, but Bitcoin is way more useful than just a speculative vehicle to hope to get rich.

Of course I would buy. This is a technological investment and on day it will be used everyday just like when cellphones are first released, cheap to expensive but it is the modern face of communication and social media.
The volality it just one of the reasons why it is exciting to use. We should not worry about bitcoin going to Zero because it will not happen. As long as there are companies investing in bitcoin, there will be a value. And we should keep expecting increases because we are gaining support by now and why not hop in.
If the prices get stable then much better. Sure value with no worries. It is still a mode of payment and fast transactions. You are in control of your money and savings.

If the fiat/BTC value was fixed permanently right now, any BTC I have now would have to be sold/spent at a loss.

In fact if bitcoin would be stable or no volatile it would be more used by banks and all other companies because you have a fixed price, it could work as the US value only that digital.
That is why USDT was created for, but it is impossible to use it because it has been manipulated a lot by just one company, bitfinex.

Yeah I will definitely invest in bitcoin and I am sure that the investment will be more than today because many people are afraid to invest in bitcoin because of the volatility.

If the price is stable then many companies, banks, or other organizations will start accepting bitcoin because the value will not change, and now many big companies do not accept because they have the fear to lose their money.

Indeed, this is a very interesting and timely question. I am sure that most people would not buy bitcoin if they knew that it would not increase in price and they would not receive income from raising its rate. Demand for bitcoin would then fall sharply. What would happen with bitkoynom then? The answer is obvious: it would fall sharply in price. This indicates that as soon as bitcoin ceases to grow, due to a drop in demand for it, it will quickly lose its value. Moreover, the inflated value of the bubble and drop to the real value. I do not even want to predict how low it can be.
Unlike bitcoin, with altcoyins, things are much better. They were mainly created to facilitate our life in a particular industry and have their own real value.

Yea mate said correctly that if price of BTC become fixed then BTC will be lose his more customers because more people are like bitcoin due to volatility of BTC as the price of BTC is varying then various traders are doing trading at that moment so when it fixed then trader will stop trading and BTC will face big loss also.

I think that the majority will answer this question negatively. Especially now, when bitcoin has become slow, with hundreds of thousands of suspended transactions and an average commission of $ 37.
However, we return to our question. If bitcoin is bought mainly because of speculative aspirations, then what will happen to its price after it stops in its growth? And this means that the demand for it will drop sharply and it will also start falling sharply in price.

But it can be. Wouldn't you want to risk storing it so that you can have an alternative in case someone tries to seize your wealth? If it would never gain value but also never lose it would still be better than most people you can buy. Cars, boats, aircrafts, they all depreciate in value and bitcoin would stay the same which would make it a great alternative investment for doomsday preppers.

Well in my part i believe that tje valuexof bitcoin is the most amazing value in currency because it can be chanve anytime anywhere and by that feature bitcoin become really more interesting yet exciting way or maybe kinds of gaining and maybe  it is now getting popular because maybe people believe in it and appriciate its unstable price so then if the value of bitcoin is stable maybe bitcoin can fall down.

Yes, your guess is right that nobody is buying and stocking bitcoin for long periods of time. If the bitcoin value does not increase, I make sure the bitcoin is not as famous as it is now. That means people are interested in bitcoin because of their lucrative investment value. Bitcoin will only be an online payment, if its value never goes up.

The price volatility of Bitcoin is encouraging so many investors to buy this crypto currency with the hope that its price will go to the moon in the future. If BTC have a stable price so many investors will avoid buying it because they have already many doubts about digital currencies generally.
Not everybody take bitcoin as an investment opportunity, some of us here only loves bitcoin as a currency just like USD only better. The bitcoin price growth is only just an advantage.

Most likely, I would not do this because I specifically invest in bitcoin because the price of it changes and I earn it
Well, if this happens then nobody will invest their money in bitcoin because everyone wants to earn from it, this is why people do invest their money so that they can earn profit. The raising price of bitcoin gives its holder profit because when someone holds it for a long time, may be few months or almost a year then they earn some profit on their invested amount and this is the simplest way of earning nowadays.

I would not buy bitcoin. For sure, majority of the people won't buy bitcoin and if there will be few people would buy, this will result to bitcoin's fall. I think it might be more okay to use fiat money.
If bitcoin’s price remains constant and doesn’t increase then it is useless to buy bitcoin or invest money in it because we know that we would not get any profit on it so no one will go for it but this is not possible that bitcoin doesn’t increase its price.

In this world, mostly people are earning investing their money in bitcoin because whenever its price increase then it will be beneficial for its holder and they earn profit in this way.

Hang on there. I do not get the point why you relate the possible increase of price of Bitcoin to it being a Ponzi Scheme as you have supposed it to be earlier on. The increase and decrease of Bitcoin's price is closely dependent on the increase and decrease of Bitcoin demand and not necessarily on the number of people who will buy the same because of the assumption that Bitcoin's price will increase. It may have an indirect effect but you can never attribute the same to be the sole purpose. Also, by definition, Ponzi Scheme means payment of quick returns. In Bitcoins, there is no such payment since it is you who is responsible for your own profitability. The returns you have in Bitcoins depend on how you decide to earn in the first place.

"What's the point of buying it if it won't grow?"

There is an option the same like people today buying gold for example.
If they know the price is stable, they will buy it to protect their savings (not in banking systems or something deposit fund).

The  value of bitcoin is the most amazing value in currency because it can be changed anytime anywhere and by that feature bitcoin become really more interesting yet exciting way or maybe kinds of gaining and maybe  it is now getting popular because maybe people believe in it and appreciate its unstable price so then if the value of bitcoin is stable maybe bitcoin can fall down.

I already know better cryptocurrencys which can provide faster transactions and way lower fees and are also much more reliable when it comes to anonymity and securing your privacy. Some of them also have great extra features and more usecases than btc

As a student if its price will stay the same and surely I will not gain profit from it then I would not buy it because I do not need it. Still, there is a lot of person that will buy bitcoin because of it anonymous and decentralized system that protect the profile of its users. what is the essence of buying bitcoin when it will neither increase nor decrease in value,it mean you will have to get it back no profit no loss, that should simply be referred to as savings, in such condition, saving in the bank would rather be better because at least it will yield interest.

Honestly, I do not care about the value of Bitcoin and I will still buy it. Yes, it is true that the value of Bitcoin is unstable but time will come that the value will become stable once it starts to mature. Yeah as an investment a guaranteed fixed price is meaning less lol, it’s not an investment if the price is constant, it’s a stagnating asset and it is completely useless

If bitcoin would never change in value, I would not buy anymore because people buy bitcoin in the lower value and they wait for the increasing value so that they will sell to others so that they can  earn a good profit. I won't be able to buy anymore because all I need is to gain money to use it for my future that's why we don't need to buy if bitcoin would never change in value. It can't help people if this will happen.

If bitcoin ceased to grow in price, then I'm sure that more than 90 percent of people would stop investing in it. Already, there are many good digital coins for functionality and convenience that far exceed bitcoin. Even once, when bitcoin stops in price growth, there will be coins that will continue to grow and in which it will be profitable to invest their money. Proceeding from this, if bitcoin ceases to grow in price, due to a drop in demand, it will immediately begin to depreciate.

This is where your wrong because everything in this Earth depreciate/appreciate examples are precious metal, oil, food, even FIAT money may go up or down.  So why not crypto. If you think because its price goes up then everything can be considered a ponzi scheme.

You also need to rethink your definition of ponzi scheme because it is way off if you compare it to the bitcoin/clock chain system.

no , bitcoin woudnt loose its value at all because people will still use it due to the fact that bitcoin has many usage or purposes on both online or offline environments not just on making money or investing/trading but also in some other things like it can act as a peer to peer payment system therfor we can use it to send and recieve money abroad or locally and also it can be used to shop on most online stores. bitcoin and its  blokchain technology is verry innovative in a way that it can do many things.

I have never thought of it, because from the first time I learned of Bitcoin that Bitcoin's price changed and tended to rise, because of the decline or rise of Bitcoin's price was due to the number of buyers or the number of sellers. If more Bitcoin buys then Bitcoin prices will tend to rise but, if many are selling Bitcoin Bitcoin prices will tend to go down.

Yes. It's a currency therefore i can buy and spend BTC knowing the value won't drop. I can use BTC when going abroad thus bypassing the need to use foreign exchange companies. Not everyone is an idiot like you who buy and hope to sell higher and make a quick profit in fiat terms. Fiat is constantly inflated and worth less over time.

However, bitcoin is like gold and the price would never be fixed in a certain limit, it would raise day by day as like gold. Bitcoin volatility is what investors get interested into it. If bitcoin has stable price I wouldn't buy it. The idea of investing is the risk that you will take. Believe that your investment will grow and do not stay as it is. If you buy a bitcoin with stable price and not grow the investment is nonsense.

It has the potential to become the digital currency of the future, hassle-free transactions with a click of a button, ability to send money across different countries without exchanging to foreign currencies, no hidden charges and fees, and being able to create an account/wallet without falling in line, etc. If it still offers the same features, It's a big YES for me.

I'm sure that a significant part of people invest in bitcoin in the hope of making a profit by increasing its value. If they knew that bitcoin would not grow in price, they would not be buying it. Now it is still difficult to judge what will happen next with bitcoin, because as a payment system it does not show its simplicity and reliability in use. Bitcoin does not yet have a developed infrastructure, and therefore these two factors greatly influence the fact that it spreads very slowly throughout the world.

No because at the moment price is not good yet. When times comes that price is good then that would be the perfect time to buy bitcoin. It wont happen that price will be stable. It tests our patience and economic strategy in order to gain bigger profits on good decisions we are going to make.

I am one of those people who purchased bitcoin only to use it as an investment. And price stability excludes the possibility of earnings. Unfortunately.

It depends of what are the people needs and reasons why they are buy bitcoin, some are them is for the investment, some of them is for use currency and most of them is to support the system of bitcoin. For me i admit, i want to buy bitcoin for investment, we know the value of bitcoin is gold.

Yes. And if you ask why, I'll tell you the same reason why people buy gold. Bitcoin's price won't forever be so volatile like it is today. The value would stabilize eventually once the market matures and we got a stable amount of supporters and active users. And even when bitcoin's value stabilizes I would still invest on it. Not only will it make it a bit more attractive to people, bitcoin's value stabilizing means that it can now be considered a currency.

If bitcoin doesn't grow then i will choose Ethereum rather than buying bitcoin. If community has alot of supporters then i will buy bitcoin probably. In altcoins there's a lot of possibility to increase it's value.

I believe that everyone's answer is negative. If the value of Bitcoin never changes, it means that its price will not change, so people will have no sense in buying it. Most of the purchases of Bitcoin are based on its technology and appreciation space, so when its value is constant, people will not hold it or buy it.

People invest in Bitcoin in order to gain revenue. If people know in advance that it will not appreciate, they will naturally not continue to buy. This is a normal idea.

No! because bitcoin will like a bank your money will not grow then why you need to buy if you cannot earn money from it, right? If thats the case i will just put my money in bank than in bitcoin because im not sure if bitcoin will not die because the price is stable and no one can use it or invest in bitcoin.

I will still use it, because although its value will be stable in the future, it also signifies the digital currency has been accepted by the world. but if not, it is also good to be a means to trade and invest.

We all are here for the profit so my answer is no. Lots of investors put their money on it because of profit and besides the popularity of bitcoin and its acceptance would not be this great if its prices did not increase.

It is not possible at first place that price would be constant because their is no product in the world whose value generally remain even if they are regulated like currency, stocks etc. And btc being unregulated so no way it will remain constant any time.

Of course I would continue to use bitcoin even more enthusiastically than before, because a stable value would allow it to be used with more confidence, putting aside the current problem that its enormous volatility represents for those who are not interested in bitcoin as a store of value, but as a currency of daily use.

If that happens then that would be the time wherein people will use it in a way as a currency, we can implement it as a currency since we have a stable price, but we have a fact, and that is not stable so we need to take advantage of the price variance.

This is something that can not be controled, and i was gonna buy bitcoin without any problems if the price was fixed, indeed, it would be even better because you would never lose money. That is what most of the people is looking for, a store value

Being volatile is the best in bitcoin as well other digital currencies have got. Also it could have been used mostly by the large scale holders as well by persons to escape taxation. Common peoples usage can be seen much low. Importantly the earning access provided is the one that making the bitcoin become more popular.

No, i won't buy it. I knew bitcoin price will be increase in the future, therefore i bought it.
The earlier adopter of bitcoin are lucky because they bought bitcoin with cheapest price at that time.
For now, we just can buy and wait for it. In general, cryptocurrency price increasing every year.

If bitcoin price will be fixed and will stay as is for good then it is not worth investing anymore. Volatility is one main reason why people invest in bitcoin. If bitcoins price become stable and does not move then you can't earn profit from it. Bitcoin will become more like a currency if thats the case.

Off course I personally believe that Bitcoins is something that is destined to be a store house of value and not a Currency. It's really no different than fiat if..it's value remains the same and I see no reason why I would go to great lengths to...buy and.. make a wallet key secure and you know submit the bank documents account details look around for other scams and news.
I think it's name.cryptocyrrency often sets people on the wrong path, it was supposed to be meant for strore house of value with immense scope of.growth and stability is a negative factor nothing else.

Of course you won't because you are just a speculator here thinking that bitcoin is an easy to get rich scheme and there is no doubt about it. Its good to see that bitcoin would have a stable price because finally a mass adoption could occur. Merchants and service providers won't be afraid of accepting bitcoin if this happens plus they could grow their businesses in a world wide scale because of the nature of bitcoin.

If the value of bitcoin is guaranteed that it will no longer change then I will never buy bitcoin again because what is the purpose anymore of buying bitcoin is its value will never increase again. I will not have any ROI with that.

Yes, this is a very good question. I read the comments on it, almost everyone agrees that there would be no point in buying bitcoin if it did not rise in price. This suggests that bitcoin will soon be a museum exhibit. It will not be able to constantly grow in price and therefore people will gradually switch to using other types of crypto currency, cheaper and more promising for growth in price.

I would buy it the same because it protects me from the influence of my country and if it is going to have the same value it is because it became world currency and because my money is managed by me, not any bank and also to buy other altcoins that also go up in price and they would earn more than the bitcoin

I think if we are talking about it as a pure currency it would be good. It will not be an investment though if the value cannot go up as it can;t generate the profit we are looking for.

you have complete misunderstanding of what ponzi is. With Ponzi, the profits are being paid from the newly bought members of the scheme, by a central party. Bitcoin is transacted peer to peer for the market prices..

So then any investment ever is a ponzi scheme according to the OP. I don't think the OP knows the definition of ponzi scheme.

Also, while the reason Bitcoin ever gained traction is because of the price volatility and its continued exponential rise, that is basically just a trick to get people to use this revolutionary tech. Once hundreds of millions or billions of people have bought it, and the market has started to mature, and volatility goes way down, people will use it because they have it already! At that point it can act as both their own personal bank account as well as an easy quick way to pay for anything (once merchant adoption expands which will happen as adoption expands). The capped supply is the economic trick to get people to buy in as an investment, and all its other features is why people will use it once they have it and the market has matured.

Yes i will buy bitcoin even if the price will remain the same. The bitcoin and technology behind it can make payments easy and even more safer than card payments. You should think about bitcoin like a whole technology and not only as a coin with a price.

Absolutely not, the reason why bitcoins is very profitable is because of the volatility of the market which can be used by every trader in the market in order to earn more profit.

The answer is very simple, if bitcoins value will not be moving or not volatile then no one will invest because it was not profitable, volatility is important in order for us to earn profit.

@op , do you mean when bitcoin became stable and will not ever change its value?  sure i would still use and hold it but i wont ever buy it because i am not a buyer or investor in bitcoin .  bitcoin being stable is also good for all of us because we can now earn a fix income all the time but as long as its base price is not lower than 8k usd , im sure , majority of the people including me will already agree with that price.
