Title: Stuck consolidation transaction to SELF -- now I have NO MONEY Post by: hheellll on December 20, 2017, 09:11:05 PM I had a bitcoin wallet with very many unspent outputs.
Someone suggested that I "consolidate" the unspent outputs by sending a low fee transaction to myself. I did just that and sent my entire wallet to myself in one transaction. For a while, it was showing as unconfirmed transaction with balance. However, now I have zero bitcoin in my wallet. The last transaction is that consolidation transaction and it says Status: 0/unconfirmed, not in memory pool Date: 8 Dec 2017 20:02 Total debit: -XXX BTC Total credit: XXX BTC Transaction fee: -0.00yy BTC Net amount: -0.00yy BTC Transaction ID: abcdefg000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 So, it does not look like my money was stolen, as it would show as an unrecognized transaction, but I just do not have the bitcoins in my wallet and this is unnerving to say the least. Should I do anything such as "abandon transaction"? Or do I just wait? Thanks! Title: Re: Stuck consolidation transaction to SELF -- now I have NO MONEY Post by: HCP on December 21, 2017, 01:41:30 AM Check your transaction ID on several block explorers like blockchain.info, blockcypher, blockexplorer.com, blocktrail.com, bitaps.com, btc.com etc.
If it's still showing on most of those, your transaction is still floating in the mempool. Doing an abandon may not work, as of you try and respend it may get marked as a double spend. If it isn't found on most of those, is starting to drop. You should abandon the transaction (you may find you also need to use zapwallettxes and rescan) Afterwards, you should find your balance is recalculated correctly and you'll be able to spend. Note: make a backup of your wallet.dat before doing anything... So if the abandon or zapwallettxes does not work as expected, you can easily "recover" |
