Things looked somewhat promising yesterday as it was holding steady in the mid-high 16k range, even breaching 17k. Now it's in the low 15k. What's going on? Are we still hodling? Newbie asking for a friend here.

This is alarming. Many holders are selling. I dont know if its good or bad. Good in a way, people can buy bitcoin in a low price. Bad if valie will decrease, panic is out there.

What's your basis for this? Not trying to argue or anything, I hope very much that you're right. I guess I'm just a panicky new BTC holder and getting worried, especially when posters like the one guy above who says get the hell out give advice like that, it doesn't inspire confidence.

If you don't really know why you invested and seek confidence or confirmation from others that your investment was a good one, you should not be investing, IMHO.

I think btc made an insane rally last week,to $18k..Too much news,and a big long wave of FOMO.

Last 5 days it being same in price growth like fluctuate around the price chart. Please choose the perfect investment option on bitcoin now since price is low you can expect the huge returns once price bumps up again.
I do holding yet if you think bitcoin price bumps up you will be able to invest on it.

Use your  common sense, this is a super volatile coin and had been growing and ONLY GROWING for weeks, you could completely see a drop coming as people is selling at the price point their believe is fine. but don't panic

Why this decreasing price we should be worry. After all, we were in bitcoin $ 10k then went up and we all love invest together. I not seen any difference, what we need are still support bitcoin now and later. Many people expecting this price will go back to $10k, i thought it was joke, but apparently their expectations were granted. While I was stuck between expecting the price to go down or wanting to ride back, I too wanted to buy a Christmas present for relatives instead.

Hey man, my personal shortcomings being an anxious person shouldn't mean I'm not allowed to invest my money wisely. I got into this game for the same reasons as anyone else here, because I believe there is profitability in it. I'm just seeking some advice from people who know better than me and have more experience, no reason to hate on me for that.

Christmas is in 3 days. People are selling to have money for the holidays. It'll pick back up in the first 2 weeks of January. I remember it was about a month ago people were all excited that Bitcoin "might" hit 10k before the end of 2017. Even on this downward trend we're still way above what was once speculation and dreams. Everyone just needs to be a little patient I think. Let the dust settle.

I think the bitcoin is being correction. for me it's better to hold the bitcoin you have right now, because I think the bitcoin price will increase later on.

Everybody has a million different answers for whats happening, but the truth is. People are seeing the price drop, so they panic and sell... then it happens to the next person and next person and so on. But eventually everybody is gonna look at it and realize its so low and start buying again and the price will go right back up to where it started. If you had stayed away from checking prices for a few days you would have never even knew anything happened. Down and up. Up and down. Crazy swings. Thats the game. Buy low, sell high.

The markets are getting very volatile might be the fall in place it seems. It has reached to 15k levels and may be before Christmas big players might sell and the btc prices may fall to 10k levels. Holding may be a little risk I think now since form 17k we have already seen it coming back to 15. if it rises from 15k its fine else the crash might be coming soon.

Well with the transaction fees on bitcoin getting higher and higher and with it getting much slower, many people have decied to switch thier coins to bitcoin cash which at the moment shows some promising progress with the price going up to 3000$, and slowly this affected the bitcoin price, but with no worries we have seen the price going down a few months ago and soon it will go back again stronger than ever, so keep calm and hold your bitcoin, because if you don't you will regret it in the future.

Nothing goes up in a straight line. When something runs so hard, there is going to be a natural cycle of profit taking along the way. This is normal.

Take note on how much the price increase in just few days rather than be worried of the current dip. Take advantage of it instead. If you have some spare funds, just enter.

You should understand that price dip is part of the game. Still going to hold your coins? It's up to you. It's not wise to do dump while the price is on downtrend because for me, since you are already on loss, then why just take more risks while taking advantage thru buying more?

If you eye for long term goals in bitcoin investment then ignore price dip or any kinds of FUD because your only focus is to increase your stash, that's all.

I don't think bitcoin would work too well as a network if 5 people controlled all the bitcoin.

If these drops end up redistributing coins to more people then that would seem to be a really good thing in the long run.

If in the end sharks and whales end up with more coins when the price turns back up, at the expense of noobs and many small time users, then this seems like bitcoin shooting itself in the foot, especially if this cycle is repeated over and over. I think this is where bitcoin differs greatly from something like Apple stock. 5 people could own all of Apple stock, and they'd still be in pretty good shape.

December comes there are many expenses, and the demand goes down. They are not to bid broadly on the BTC, but for February it should go up or so I think

Its normal, bitcoin's price will continue to go down before December ends because more investors sold their bitcoins when btc reach almost $20000 this month increase the supply of bitcoins in the market thus making the value low. Still bitcoin will increase this 2018 based on the btc market's behavior as I have observed I think it will go back up in no time.

Another ground shaking event that will cause the biggest sell off I guess. I will be holding, I would not want to regret anything. I think of its not about the Christmas time for everyone, the need of money in our country because of two typhoons( small chance causing dip ), or FUD.
BCH is in its fame tour again. Guess who will be abandoning bitcoins.

I think most holders and whales cashing out that cause price dumps..or there might be manipulation that was happening since BCH were growing while BTC is dumping.It crashes to $15k while it almost hit to $20k those previous days.
Investments in crypto is a risk,most people panic when price drops and these seems a roller coaster of emotions when  theres a dip that was happening,others treat it as a chance to buy bitcoin more that strongly believe in bitcoin to easily recover in every downfall.

It is just part of Bitcoin's volatility. Bitcoin's market value is now falling because the transactions are high since many people are selling their Bitcoin and maybe that is due to christmas season. We should not be afraid of it. It will eventually climb its way up after a week or two and the best thing to do now is to hold.

Its a normal day in cryptocurrency, we all know that there will be a correction after a big increase of price in just a few weeks for bitcoin. When bitcoin value is started dropping, only one thing is coming into my mind, to buy another sets of bitcoin again and wait for another big wave and get some profit.

Nothing is so special in my opinion and it is just part of Bitcoin's volatility. The backdrop is resulted by people selling their Bitcoin due to the season, making the transactions high and the demand low. We should focus into investing and holding or simply take advantage of the backdrop to earn huge profit in the future by the time its value, again, increases.

Bitcoin whales are moving to bitcoin cash BCH because CoinBase recently announced they will intergrate Bitcoin cash trading on their platfrom.

Yeah right. If they do then it will not stay within the 15k range. We should have been seeing a 5k price today if they already cash out.

For me I agree that the holiday season might be one of the reasons why also price declines so fast in parallel on how people got interested to sell at the previous price at $17k to $18k and now became $15k eventually goes down. Expectedly the current situations might change without any further signs and can fluctuate anytime because people are really eager to grab the opportunity of selling at the higher price. That is the mindset of every trader is to hold while price is low and sell while price is high.

This is the normal movement of the market and everytime bitcoin price used to behave like this when the majority of traders are selling their stocks or holdings and this is some signs of correction, so you can expect some short-term decline from here which I think will leads to 13k to 14k. From here the fibonaaci retracement levels comes into play and bitcoin prices will hold either at 38.2% or 61.8%.Lets hope for the best and expect some good movement from now onwards.

do not panic, the price just down less than 50%. When bitcoin rises thousands of dollars in 1-year intervals it already shows what percentage increase is happening, whereas now it only drops from the price of 17K to 15K, it only drops less than 10%, just relax, let's see the beginning of 2018.

Hold the coins that you have because the price will recover when people finish their Christmas present purchasing.

Hold the coin and don't panic the demand maybe not in favor for us today due to some specific reasons of some buyers of bitcoin. But at any rate don't get too nervous just because it is at low today because this where we are tested whether we are still gonna believe on bitcoin or not. Don't freak up! It will be fine after several days probably. Remember, the concept is like a stock market so it's just normal. Just don't overreact. Now is the good time to invest. Think of what you will gain and not of what you will lose.

This is an opportunity to make an investment with bitcoin in my own opinion. It is not because bitcoin now is subsiding, that will be permanent. So it is not negative to those who are planning to make an investment but a big chance.

obviously, I will hold Bitcoin for up to 3 years because my friends predict Bitcoin will have a very high price. this I believe it is because in 2015 I regret for not trusting my friend's prediction.

I can't expected the price of bitcoin is downward,what happen the value of bitcoin is downward.Im.invest 1k php and I convert to bitcoin.Till now my bitcoin is downward to downward its so not invest increasing my invest in coin wallet.The price of my invest is downward so much.Why the price of bitcoin is downward it is because their are so many payout of money it can be downward of value or price of bitcoin.I hope bitcoin is higher nad higher the value to came back my invest 1k and to earn money lots for my christmas and new year.

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but today I can only speculate about bitcoin prices. i saw in coinbase and delta very low. I see this year-end holiday effect, many users are selling, so the BTC price goes down. etap hold. I suggest you keep hold. hoping after 2018 entry will rise again

I think its because a lot of them are cashing in especially the one’s who think that this kight be as high as it can go. However this causes a ripple effdct and panic selling might again erupt causing further decline until it holds steady again waiting for the prices to come back up

I see the current bitcoin price is going down a bit, and may continue, and now is the right time to invest in bitcoin, wait for the price to reach the lowest point and buy the bitcoin by the time it arrives and hold it for some time until the price goes back increase, because the rise of bitcoin occurs in a relatively short time, if you can use it will be some considerable advantage

Nobody really has any information about what's gonna happen in the few days or few months to come, we will never know what will happen with bitcoin, it may rise, it may fall, nobody knows, but if you believe in bitcoin and if you believe in your investment then just hold, hold until you think it's the right time to sell. If you think about it around two months ago, people want bitcoin to rise this high, so the current price isn't that low if you ask me, it's quite alright, atleast it didn't go down half as what some people predicted. If you look at the charts and the stats of bitcoin, this is quite normal, people are focusing on altcoins or maybe some people are cashing out due to the holidays and if you've notice there are a lot of negative press going on with bitcoin at the moment so it's quite expected for the price to go down. If we're lucky by 2018 bitcoin will have another sudden rise, that's just the way bitcoin works, it goes up then it goes down, you just have to know when to profit and when to hold.

This is my advice to a newbie like you. Newbies should learn to be steadfast and strong. If I may liken it to a battle or in life in general, you have to learn to stand your ground. Stay firm and believe. The reason why there are so much whining especially from newbies and new-comers not just about their Bitcoin investment but also in the altcoin world is that they easily panic. They easily get emotional especially when they see a dump, however temporary and normal it is.

It’s true that some people have still hold bitcoin because they are waiting for more high price because its end of the year and in next week there is hundred present chance of it that its price will go more high so that’s why some people are still waiting but there is no doubt that its price will jumped very high in couple of days so no need to worry about today price get ready yourself for its high price and also for good profit.

Today there was a big fall for bitcoin (the price dropped  to 24%) because many users  of this currency are selling their money.  in otherwise,  many people are afraid of negative changes in price that may get in the coming period. And consequently, there's a large amount of unconfirmed transactions in blockchain. and hopefully, the price will return to the summit in the coming days.

I am very disappointed with the price of bitcoin now the value is fall to the $13120 from the last week it was not that much less as compared to now the bitcoin investments is stopped i think the supply is high as compared to the demand let's prey for the new year if the current price fall trend still in the new year what we will do. i have only this source of income and if the price falls it will be panic for me and i will cash my bitcoin because more price fall i can't bear in the future.

Such a price drop won't really affect me neither push me to cashout my funds thinking that i might "cut off my losses " . Bitcoin has risen from ashes many times and this ain't even as worse as some previous dumps that happened ( such as the 2013 one from 1k to 200$ .. ) . Panic sellers will certainly regret what they are doing now especially that there isn't something else drastically rising to explain what's happening to bitcoin this couple of days , since even bitcoin's rivals such as BCH and Eth are bot decreasing of respectively -19.17% and -18.26% .

Nothing goes up that will not come down at some point and nothing goes down that at some point will still not go up. It can't go down forever and the last part of the correction is the main value of bitcoin right now where we truly have the real believers and not some dudes who want to quickly make money on their cash. It is not bad as everyone knows what they want, but it was not just healthy for the market and this has brought life and sanity back.

This happens once in a while to test how sane the market really is and I guess the insanity was really huge for the past few days. It is not new and it will still happen later, but for now, we just have to digest this one for now and look at the next level to come.

As of the day after Christmas, Bitcoin prices are slowly rising. Compared to the previous days, it is now on going through the $15,000 - $16,000 range. This can be justified due to the fact that the holidays is coming to its end. Although the new year is approaching, we may experience a few corrections as we reach this day, but afterwards, I expect Bitcoin prices to gradually increase over time and hopefully reach another remarkable rate soon.

Yes I agree with you, all you say is correct and I also observe all of that in pass few weeks price of bitcoin goes dropped down. It was truly expected. The market went rapidly high within just very short and few periods with just some flash corrections that so many people thought were really a correction. This that we have here now is the main correction and even if we get to see some insane movements like this again, then we will still keep seeing some corrections like this, no doubt.

It is obviously temporary and it does not have anything to do with the end of the year, it can happen anytime of the year and we have had so many of it in this year alone. Nothing is to be worried about. This is just the aftershock of the recent correction. Some holders with weak hands panicked when they saw Bitcoin is not increasing anymore and they sold their coins to get out of the uncertain situation. As you can see now, Bitcoin is at the 16,000 level again. It could drop again or increase this time. No one knows but one thing is for certain, no matter what the current trend of the price of Bitcoin, it will increase eventually and surpasses its own records.

Today Bitcoin is growing and I think that price growth will continue. I'm ready to assume that the correction is over and you can gradually buy bitcoin.

Whats going on? Then you should know first about bitcoins price behavior which most people know that it is a volatile thing which its really just normal to see of the price on rising and falling. Because we wont really just see continuous price increase because it would really be just like or become a hype coin. Fluctuations do signifies that bitcoin do have a healthy market. As for me, this situation is understandable. After all, the currency rate always falls at the peak moment. And if it did not happen now, even in half a year it would be just as expecting.

before he decides to sell or to hold, it is better to analyze the chart because sometimes the price makes a correction before it increases again. and I agree with you say about to check the strategy he has and analyze what kind of investment that he wants. this will help us to not to be panic when the price is down like today and he can wait until the price increase again.

Don't worry.Calm down man.Nothing will happen serious. It's the rule of marketing. Tge price will go up and fall down.It will rise sometimes,sometimes will fall.But there are some specific reasons for the reducing of price of bitcoin.I think one can be the ending of the year as well as tge Christmas. Well, today bitcoin price continue recovering from the recent market correction. the good thing about today is bitcoin price started growing strong which we are hopping to see more progress in few days to come.

High hopes right now in the air that bitcoin will be back to 19 or will reach 20K again. I guess the dip was over and everyone of us is really excited on what will happen next.

Fortunately that did not happen and we did not touch 8k and the lowest point was 10k now bitcoin has recovered and reached 15300 that is still far away from the all time high we reached, but this year seems like it is going to be even better for bitcoin so make sure to grab as much bitcoin as you can.

Well, its back to 16,000 marks and are nearing 17,000 USD price again well at least it is not falling back to 13,000 - 12,000 USD. Seems to me that price and demand of bitcoin are on a consistent basis playing around 15,000 to 17,000 USD marked and the increase of price to reached 20,000 USD marked are nearing.

As I can see to it, price is stable to 17$k so I think were price were heading soon to high. If you will sell and act a panic mode possible might in lose. Id rather hold then wait for the price again to jump. Bitcoin will not be lower than the current price I think.

Bitcoin prices are still on the range of $16,000. As of what I've observed today, it was playing in the high range of $16,000 but sadly did not reach $17,000. It may have been stable on the same range but we should look into the positive aspect of this and that is it is actually gradually increasing. Maybe we give it a little more time until Bitcoin fully recovers, but overall the rate looks promising and I think we should keep holding on to what we have as sooner or later it would truly be worth it.

Bitcoin went through what called the market correction in the late December 2017 that causes bitcoin to lose up to 45% of its original value. Whenever the bitcoin hit the highest point - the apex! the correction normally comes in to balance the bitcoin price in the market and give others the opportunity to buy bitcoin at lower price. Thankfully, the bitcoin is finally recovering very strong from the recent correction and soon bitcoin will be out of it and head directly back to the moon.

it is interesting to watch the price increase from $13k to $16k and then it's down to $15k and it seems the price wants to be like this for maybe two weeks. and if we can use this chance to buy and sell bitcoin in the exchanges, then I think we can make a nice profit. the gap of price is not much and we still need to be careful when we decide to buy and sell. but I hope that after this, if any of correction price again, I hope that the price is not going to deep like before.

Its natural to bitcoin price, to moves up and down.  So if the value of it last  day was $17k , there's still a possibility that it will fall down. Its natural, just hold it a little bit longer and see it will rises again. So dont panic, if the bitcoin price is falling down. It was just a natural happening in bitcoin. Just continue supporting it and continue investing. You can still have a great profit from it. Dont just give up easily.

We know a rising and down the price movements basically is already very naturally on bitcoin, and I think no need to worrying.. just keep an self confidence. However indeed at nowadays looks the current price changes seems more active or changing rapidly. But anyhow I don't think this will be a problem for those who are investing in the long term and I'm sure long term investment would be still remain promising a profitable.

This shouldn't be a "NEW" news/thing/event to you, some of them are cashing out and it's pretty normal, The price will go up once the correction and the cashing out have been finished, Honestly do not believe on the idiots who told you to cash out too. Remember, cash out when you need the money and not by panicking.

I think that is all because of Christmas were people are so busy cashing out their cryptos from their wallet in preparation for Christmas celebration. Today, cryptos are getting normal now and red days are over for the majority of cryptos.

There were people who actually buy bitcoin during 13K-15K. Imagine how they feel right now, they might really be panicking right now. For ua who has goid amoubt of coin since 8K, we would not see it anything new. We can still appreciate its value because it's rise would just be a bunoa for us.

Regardless of dumping and pumping I would still choose to hold bitcoin. Difinitely it will hit hard back, the price might be scary but due to popularity and demand bitcoin will no way go down but up. Let's just see where bitcoin will bring us, trust the process folks.

Newbie always are on panic, i don't know why people are into money invest in technology behind bitcoin. if you understand well the whitepaper of bitcoin then you should invest more and hold it for long term.
