Title: Different viewpoint - Alt currencies are strengthening Bitcoin Post by: TheSwede75 on July 26, 2013, 02:08:18 PM I believe that in stark contrast to what many people seem to think, the flood of shitcoins is actually strengthening Bitcoin.
The flood of close to worthless (with XPM and LTC being the possible exceptions) altcoins so obviously only working as a way for GPU miners to earn Bitcoin (the fact that they are all pegged against Bitcoin for value) just proves that bitcoin is the "default currency" and the only real crypto currency. In the grand scheme of things and when these muppet coins die out, this will actually only have don't two things: - concentrated the bitcoin ownership to fewer serious crypto currency enthusiasts. - kept a lot of people "in" crypto coin mining and trade after it "should" have been a non profitable proposition. All in all, I think we should encourage crap-coin-flooding. Once it reaches a critical mass, the entire alt coin "world" will implode and leave 2-5 actually useful and valuable coins left standing. So, keep it up!
