Title: What is up with my trust list?
Post by: Jaxkr on July 26, 2013, 09:06:21 PM
I was looking through my settings, and my trust list was strange.
It had all kinds of duplicate names, and multiple levels of indentation, and all kinds of stuff. "DefaultTrust" was even listed as a user in there!

What does all of this mean?

The indentations are the different depths.

X
X
     Yyyy
      Yyyy
X
      Yyyy

X would be people on your list, y is the people on their list. Default is two, options range from 1-3.

Default trust is just a reference point you can use if you want, and don't know where to start.

Thanks for the explanation.
And DefaultTrust is a user (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=122551) that trusts a bunch of trustworthy people?

Also, what makes the number in parenthesis "more resistant to abuse"?

When looking at a user's feedback you will probably find yourself giving more weight to some people's feedback more than others. That's the people who should be on your trust list, because that's what it does. Default is a good start if you don't know anyone and don't have any trades. It can help point out scammers at the very least. Just because someone is on your trust list, or anyone's, doesn't mean you should trust them implicitly (my default recommendation is trust nobody  ;)), just that you value their feedback more than others.

Alright. Trust is a more elegant system than I thought!
Why does DefaultTrust have such a high amount of positive feedback?

Because DiamondCardz left him (along with other accounts like satoshi) a feedback with 9001 BTC risked. Every 25 BTC risked is 1 trust point.

Haha! Oh.
But only if in a single rating though. Because I have 4 points I can see and I've only had 1 BTC or so risked on me.
