Title: Beware doing trades with Tigerguy007
Post by: hipstaplease! on July 27, 2013, 03:22:16 PM
Agreed to a transaction with him yesterday. My gc--->his btc. He takes me out of escrow since he had such good rep on another site. Since I am new to the forums and knew I looked untrustworthy, I agreed. Now he will not respond and has not sent bitcoins. After getting the card info he stopped replying. He did send a msg 4 hrs later saying his internet went out. I believe I read another post about him doing the same thing the night before. He has not offered to fix this issue.

Never do anything without escrow because it is highly risky for that reason.

I always use escrow anywhere else I'm trading. I did ask what kind of escrow he preferred, even set up a bitmit post so we could trade through them.  He replied and told me to look at his  me to look at his stats on the otc site. They were good but I still suggested escrow. He said he would agree to a certain guy but I had to cover fees through some other payment since he was getting the full amount loaded on the card. With his rep and my lack of he said I needed to send first. I was hoping to get the transaction over with quickly and had not had any other offers.
That being my first time here and being a newbie I knew it'd be hard to find anyone to trust me. I admit my fault. I should have turned down the offer when he got weird about escrow.

Hmm..thanks for sharing. Seems strange that he started scamming all at once. If his feedback on OTC is legitimate and he's done several 4 figure trades in the past why rip off $50? I mean, I'm sure on transactions that large he used escrow.

I still have the card. He used it online at Walmart. (He must have created a magical shopping internet connection but could not do anything else).
Was thinking about reporting a fraudulent charge. Advice?

I know tiger guy. Doesn't sound like him. And as far as I know he does not trade GC. Nick squatters and scammers often assume the identity of trusted traders.  Always confirm that the person you are trading with is who they say they are. If you are not sure as someone who traded with them.
