Title: Flashing Sapphire RX580 8GB Nitro+ MICRON Memory
Post by: Parade on December 23, 2017, 05:07:47 PM
Hello,

I bought 6 Sapphire RX580 8GB Nitro+, unfortunately they all came with Micron Memory.

On Windows 10, before flashing I'm getting 20.X MH/s. After flashing (copying 1750 to 2000 trick), I'm only getting 1 MH/s more at 21.X MH/s.

I've spent the whole day and exhausted all options but I'm still stuck with this low hash rate.

Anyone has success stories with flashing Micron memory, particularly Sapphire RX580 8GB Nitro+ series?

Any guidance are sincerely welcomed, I hope all these 6 GPUs will not be a waste.

Thanks!

You can try this strap 777000000000000022AA1C0073626C41B0551016BA0D260B0060060004061420EA8940AA0300000 01914292EB22E3B16
Frequency 1170/2100MHz.

I got a Nitro+ RX 580  8GB card from Newegg today that came with Micron memory as well. With the Polaris Bios Editor v1.6.5 'one click timing patch' that adjusts the 1500 MHz and up timings with the bundled performance strap, I'm getting ~30.1 MH/s on UBQ + 905 MH/s DCR dual mining using 1200 MHz core/2250 memory. Not as good as the Hynix cards that get to 31+ MH/s with the same settings, but not bad.

It's not working either. I've applied the patch and it's still giving 21.X MH/s.

With the Overclocking I can barely hit 22.X MH/s but it's unstable sometimes dropping to 10+MH/s.

I'm using the output from my GPU as MOBO doesn't supports HDMI. Not sure if this affects hashrate.

P.S: I'm mining Ether.

You need to use the blockchain drivers or with the latest 17.1x.x drivers toggle the GPU's to compute mode in AMD settings. That applies the DAG size fix when mining ETH.

And here I thought the sapphire 8gb rx 580 nitro+ would come with samsung, I guess only the special version comes with samsung memory.

Not sure what you meant by this. I have not came across this step in tutorials online, is this step exclusive for Micron memory only?

Which Block Chain driver do you use? I've the Sapphire driver installed.

P.S I backup my original bios using TechGPUZ, is there any difference compared to backing up the bios with ATIFlash? (Many advised to use ATIFlash instead of TechGPUZ)
There's dual bios for Sapphire's RX580, is there any difference between original bios 1 and bios 2? Can I copy bios 1 to bios 2 to revert to original?

Thank

Not exclusive to your memory type but is done for good driver performance.
Click below for blockchain drivers and clean out as recommended Vann.

I would advise to check your overclock settings with Hwinfo64 since each card is a little different and these settings definitely arent "one size fits all"

Do I install AMD Blockchan drivers and run alongside with AMD drivers? What do you mean by clean out?

I've toggle the GPU's compute mode and it indeed works!

Now without flashing it hits 27.X MH/s, with flashing (copying 1750 to 2000) it managed to increase to 28.X MH/s and with Trixx Overclock/Undervolt (1150/2150), it managed to hit 29.X MH/s.

I tried using the AutoConfig Bios Polaris 1.6.6 but it didn't work so I reverted to 1750 - 2000 method.

My question is, is it normal to have a mere ~1 MH/s from flashing? I usually see greater increase from flashing. Did I missed out something? I'm hoping to get at least a 31 MH/s

Is it better to use the AMD Block Chain Drivers or the normal drivers then switching from gaming to compute mode?

Thank You

Its always better to modify straps manually than just do memshift (if you know what you're doing, of course)

Also, are you sure you got one with pure Micron memory, or its Elpida-micron?

TechGPUz shows only Micron, how do I check if it's Elpida-micron? Pretty sure mine is same as Vann's screenshot above.

I have limited knowledge on modifying straps manually so I guess I will be sticking with memshift for now. Do you know if it's possible to copy the 1750 timing strap to 1875 strap as well? Will it increase the hash rate this way?

Thanks

Thanks, didn't notice his screenshot, sounds like true Micron

My experience from RX560 cards tell me this could actually be awesome performer with good BIOS, as I managed to get 16.3MH/s stable
with such weak card (its basically as RX570 with everything halved)

And no, 1875 strap is not important (becomes unimportant the moment you hit 1876MHz memory clock)

I wish I have one of those cards to play with it :D

The new micron card is the best memory ever. 32MH/s and over. Those are not the old micron chips we used to see. Can someone post the optimal strap to use? these can go like way up up in memory oc.

Yes, I can run my RX560 stable at 2240MHz, and RX580 has better memory (rated 2000MHz, while one in RX560 is rated 1750MHz)

Memory cooling is very important at such high frequencies, though

Hi guys.

Does anyone happens to have Sapphire Pulse RX580 Micron vbios?
Can anyone help this poor guy and post please?

Much appreciated and thank you for the help

Have you try to change the pcie slot and riser cable ?
I mean please try to use 1 card only, try to change pcie slot position and the riser too.

it's the one click patch strap for micron.

Hello,
I have some RX580 nitro+ with micron memory. I'm mining monero but I can't do more than 800h/s. May I ask if someone can share good memory timing strap for these cards for monero or a good bios ?
