Title: New to Crypto
Post by: AkorTheKing on December 24, 2017, 10:56:45 AM
Before investing in some altcoins i should do some research. I will: read the whitepaper, see if the developers are good(how experienced they are and searching them on linkedin), see if they site is good, whatch the graphs and see if the coin is growing, see if the coin have some good sponsor, understand why this coin is different from others. What else should i search before buying an altcoin?

Thats really good way of approaching for the ICO investment. There is one more thing besides just reading the whitepaper. You do have to keep following these people on the social network and forum itself. These updates are important because it makes sure that they are perfect running the program according to their whitepaper and roadmap. If they are missing the development then they should be updating us time to time and should recall the roadmap later on. This gives broader perspective of the team working finely and they are not hiding anything. Because just single drift from the roadmap could cause bad impression in the crypto community and interested party. This leads to decreased investment rate later in the time thus making the situation worse. So yeah thats the only way to successfully go for the ICO investment.

Check also the reviews and read the opinion of others. Sometimes you will have the hint if the coin is doing good/bad to their investors thru word of mouth. Also, if you are really serious in investing on a certain altcoin, you might want to join their social comm as stated by ss890 like discord, telegram or slack as sometimes they are disclosing vital info not presented in the thread or whitepaper.

See who is in the development of technology.
Also, the leaders who lead the company.
Partners who have already appeared and what partners are saying about this project.
Just cooperation for the sake of gain or for the sake of realizing the idea

You can add the roadmap to your search list to find if the goal of the project is not far from reality. Aside from that, you can also take into considerations the reviews of some people in this forum. You can post a thread and ask for their advice. It is good to know that a newbie like you is alloting time to make some research before investing on any coins. Good luck and God bless us more!

The uniqueness of the project and the team behind it are one of the things you should look before investing in ICOs.

You should make sure you zoom out on the charts - learn to see recent price movements as part of a longer trend. I found this very useful when I started.
Also if you go all-in on alts, remember that you have to keep up-to-date with bitcoin developments as it is often bitcoin that determines price movements across the whole market.
Also for a particular coin, make sure to find out if it has any competitors who look better :)

The community support, the roadmap of the project and you should be known about the development progress of the project and the critical thing you must get a very good rumour to give you the more fundamental aspects of buying such altcoin that makes you interested with it. You may need to learn more

You're certainly heading in the right direction  :)

Also spread your investments around. Don't bet it all on one coin, even the most promising can remain stagnant for long periods of time before getting the recognition it deserves.

As a rule of thumb, I'd say test the tech yourself. Are any of the claims the developers make tangible? How is usability and the interface of the applications? If you believe that the tech is good and there is potential for adoption, then it might be less risky to go in. Usability is a good indicator of potential growth so take it very seriously.

In my opinion, it is not unimportant to look at the work of the marketing department on a coin. From him a lot depends and, first of all, the price of the coin. Therefore, pay attention to this also.

Along with reading the white paper, you should also keep an eye on these social networks and forums. Because it is to ensure that they are running the program according to their white paper and roadmap. If there is some change then they should inform everyone about it. If you think they are not doing this then you can think before investing. That's the only way ICO is the right way to invest and to some extent assures success.

But even scams can have great marketing and can get a lot of hype behind them in their initial stages.

That it good, because it is really hard to know the good altcoin today, but I believe in eth to all atcoins. Altcoin price before is only almost $400, but now we can see the improvement of it. We can see eth around $600-$700.

imo a new element introduced to our search was be legalities. Make sure they're not claiming to be a security. Bounties aren't allowed anymore in the US.

A sector everyone should be watching would be securities. As the finance industry is trickling in, companies that are able to issue securities tokens will make the market value skyrocket. Keep an eye on Polymath. They're a platform for launching securities token projects. I'd recommend following them directly through their telegram group: https://t.me/polymathnetwork

yes all you do is a great thing to do before investing. the thing that important to be analyze is you need to know how much coin will be distributed for bounty or airdrop . i think its important cause you can predict the lowest value in the market whrn the coin is on the market. this crucial but some forgot to analyze such thing

Also how big the community of the ico can helps, like the numbers on telegram, facebook and twitter, from there you can have update how active and real the project is. Plus the member of the team.

That's a good start before buying altcoin. You must investigate and keep on reading about the particular altcoin you want to buy. In addition, i suggest to go over with the related reviews and other comments of the people involved in it. Then from that, you can gather many insights.

Great job man. Continue doing what you do. You're doing great. I really feel happy seeing newbies taking time to read stuff and really prioritize learning more first before being greedy or anything else. And that is by far the greatest decision you have ever made here in the crypto world the statement knowlege is power really do strongly apply here. So again, great job in not jumping into ICO investments blindly. You will surely achieve success if you continue to work hard like this.

Also,  trying to ask questions to the developers themselves can really help. Sometimes, the personality they show are important too since it reflects on their work. Merry Christmas mate. Good luck with your adventures hee in the crypto world amd welcome.

You should also search for the background of team members, whether there are bad records or fraudulent records, and then see how well they are on telegram, and whether the project has a certain degree of heat.

You should check the team of managers who are involved in the project whether they are competence or not. Also whether the team have been part of a successful projects before. You should also check the kind of concept they are trying to project whether it's reasonable or not. Finally you can check the road map of the project and study it carefully.

Hundreds of altcoins are in the market and ready to be bought and trade. Try to look at their marketcap and volume. Study the ideal total marketcap of an altcoin before investing on it. Some altcoin with low volume might indicates lack of interests from other buyers or sellers. They are also people who promises that the value of a certain coin will rise many times in the week or month, do't get swayed on their forecasts and instead study the market indicators.

so its hard to make real research before the coin actually launches

You need to evaluate the size and activity of the community. Take a look at the twitter, telegram, facebook profiles and try to understand the activity around the project. The price of project is the confidence and size of the community.

You have the right way to get a good result from investing. You need to communicate with the representatives of the project in their channel in telegram, in this forum and in other places. This will help to draw a conclusion about the project.

Great at least you know the what to do before investing not like the other newbies who will just ask what coins to buy. Surely you will be a successful investor.

Also for ICO try to join if their telegram group chat if there are any. Most of the time the developers will answer all your inquiries. If it is a scam you may sense it there.

You may also follow the developers or the project in twitter and facebook.

Actually what OP all said are quite the basics for looking to a good ICO, even if you determine all those qualities are good to a specific ICO but the community is far lesser than what they expect for me even if they have a good concept it will still fail because ICO is the only way the idea will be put into operation.

I think you already do what is needed before investing to an alt coin. You really need research to work this out. And the thing left is you just need to be prepared because even though the coin has said potential it is still not stable so you'll experience ups and down. And another thing investing to an ICO is one way to earn money for short term but also has higher risk of fail so becareful in to where you will invest.

You also need to join in their community. reddit, slack, telegram, twitter etc. then check if there are new updates or the team always update the community. continuous update is a good indicator of an active development. The indicated road map must be accomplished based on its deadline. changing of roadmap deadline or ICO policy is a bad indicator. this means that the group cannot plan accordingly. If you can't, plan you plan to fail. goodluck for finding good altcoins.

This is also one of the characteristics i am looking for a good ICO. In addition to the team members' profile that can be found in LinkedIn, i am always checking if they already have previous project/ICO that is very successful and used in the market because that will be a good indication that the ICO will also be a success.
