Sad be the day when you need a back up pool for your back up pool.

Sad be the day when you need a back up pool for your back up pool.

A few weeks ago it was a backup for a backup for a backup for a backup for a backup. 5 pools were down I think. I wonder if we will ever need a backup to solo mine lol.

bitcoin is only 2 weeks old for me, I joined slush and BTCGuild to test mining out. I was happy enough on there for days until the intermittent connection problems. I'm now using those two as backups and have been with Triplemining https://sealkid.triplemining.com/register (https://sealkid.triplemining.com/register) for a week with only minor connect issues. This smaller pool will be where I mine for the foreseeable future, and I think the more pools the better, since the higher profile ones will be targetted by whoever. My payouts have been better on Triplemining anyway thanks to their minipool system and payout structure.

And now deepbit is approaching 50% again... people, why do you let this happen? Join some small pool, accept the variance, enjoy the better stability and lower stale rates, profit.

I dont get, I make the least at deepbit.. their fees must be crazy high...

Agreed x3.  I'm only on week 2 (0r 3?) of mining and I was on deepbit for the longest time until it went down for a bit.  Switch to bitclockers for the past 2 days and I've been getting WAY more BTC paid out than I ever did with deepbit!

I mined with 3 days there with 1.5 g hash, a "estimated" reward of 53 bitcents..

Whoa!  I can retire now..

they are still lookin for that block I started on..

Problem is low mhash = high variance. For example, triplemining is chugging along at ~60Ghash now, so they should on average find about a block in just over a day. But it could be 5 days, or 3 hours.

I quit mining at deepbit because the fees are ridiculous.

In the long term, for every 100 BTC you mine at deepbit you'll be getting 103 if you mined at a 0% pool.

Mr. McGuire: I just want to say one word to you. Just one word.
Benjamin: Yes, sir.
Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?
Benjamin: Yes, I am.
Mr. McGuire: Namecoins.

If you haven't mined at deepbit then you won't understand.

You know why I do it?  I'm getting less than *HALF A PERCENT* rejects.  That's right.  Half a percent.  Not five.  Not six.  Half.

That right there (plus not being down randomly, plus being credited for all submitted work) is why they're my #1 pool, with all the others as backups.  And screw variance.  If I wanted to risk it all I could solo mine.

Thats neat, but every single time I project what I would make at deepbit vs other pools, deepbit is at least 20% less.  I am pulling easily .5 BTC/day right now while deepbit would gain me at most .36 BTC/day.

how are you getting 20% less with a 3% fee?

Well, with deepbit I was getting about 0.28 BTC per day, highest was 0.36.  With bitclockers I'm now getting 0.4-0.5 BTC daily.  So I really don't care about rejections or "being credited for all submitted work" because in the end, what I get paid is all that matters, and I get paid less from deepbit, period.  Money talks dude.
