Hey folks,


I'm getting soon 5x S9 for my house, there problem is the noise... I saw on youtube people putting the S9 inside of a plastic cooler and reduced the noise really well. Any other option? I saw online also "silencer" addons but in the review shows it does not work so good like the plastic cooler. I really appreciate any tip.

Yea heres a tip, dont buy them.  They are not HOME miners. They are designed for industrial areas. If you have a waterproof garage and live in a temperate climate then you best bet is plug them in out there. Also make sure whatever electrical circuit you have them running on is able to cope with the 6Kw+ of juice they will be pulling.

Also there is nothing you can buy that will do a decent job of making them quiet. You cannot really chane the fans, you would have to build a soundproof cabinet within a room and have more fans and ducting to provide cool air and exhaust the hot. You will need to work out CFM of the existing miners then work out soze and speed of fans to supply enough airflow.

It's also possible to get a shed or something of the sort and put all of your mining equipment in there. Like gt_addict said, there's no really easy way to make miners quieter. Soundproofing cabinets may work but they are expensive, one alternative that I can pull off the top of my head is this from philipma1957, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlB5LikKeiw&t=47s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlB5LikKeiw&t=47s), which can lower sound a little bit for home mining.

Aside from the noise and heat, keep in mind that these things pull down at least ~1400 watts and on a typical 120v household that's pretty much an entire 15 amp circuit. Depending on how your sockets are spread out through your home, this may lead to other logistical "challenges."

I have a car garage, but no A/C on it. Also I'm from Florida and here is very hot. Any tip how to make my garage a good fit for it?

Being in Florida Your water table is ridiculously high, one thing you might want to look into is water cooling(swamp cooler) for the garage. Another thing you can do if you don't mind wasting your AC( if you add to your calculations it's probably going to give you a roi longer than the life of the machine) is just running a vent from the house AC to the intake of the miners in the garage( if it's attached or not too far away), they don't necessarily need to sit in the air-conditioning but they do need the cool air. I have noticed that a lot of the sound coming from the miners is resonance from all the individual heatsinks I wonder if someone could put a single copper heatsink on each hash board and make them significantly quieter.

Hey I too had a problem with a noise issue so I made a soundproof box for them to reduce the noise. I have one D3 antminer and it is loud running at 537 frequency. I was able to bring that noise down (about 20 decibels) and make it possible to mine at home. (You still can't have it in the living room but an extra room or garage is perfect. As for the chip temps Im running air from outside through dryer ducting which allows the chips to stay nice and cool below 70 degrees.

I really was looking for a long term solution and this seems to be it.

65 db is still pretty loud actually and are u sure the airflow works well enough ?
