Title: Transaction says unconfirmed parent in electrum
Post by: unconfirmed_parent on December 27, 2017, 06:42:12 PM
Hi please help me get back my bitcoin!

I sent 0.13 btc to this address: 134VwwSMDVHmWiJsST5Ja1gg9fQGGSVL44

now in my electrum wallet it says 'unconfirmed parent' next to the transaction. Ive tried to solve this on my own by reading through a couple of tutorials and just haven't been able to get it right so far.

the transaction id :

f956a0428fb12f5ab40c73efcebb53755c678ff948e47eddb010384af2a3c289

It means that you are spending one or more outputs which have not yet been confirmed by the network.

In this case it is https://blockchain.info/tx-index/312849527/1 of the outputs that hasn't been confirmed yet.

When you look up your txid in blockchain.info, you'll see that there's a (U) next to the output, https://blockchain.info/tx/f956a0428fb12f5ab40c73efcebb53755c678ff948e47eddb010384af2a3c289

To avoid this happening again next time, when you perform transactions, always use inputs that are confirmed. You can easily do this in electrum... in fact I'm pretty sure it's like that by default, so you must have messed around with settings. Change it back by Going to Preferences> check box "spend only confirmed coins".

Luckily, your transaction only contains one unconfirmed input as Adolfin points out. Fee is low, just over 50 sats, but the "good news" is, it should have a 90% chance confirm within next 20 hours, if conditions do not get worse with mempool.

Submit it for acceleration to Antpool, it'll eventually get confirmed if you keep broadcasting it. Be prepared to wait a lot longer though. Once that's confirmed, then your tx in question won't have that unconfirmed parent.

PS your address is full of unconfirmed txs. I'd definitely want to change my settings asap and get the guy sending you coins to stop skimping on fees.

As buywaytress mentioned, you'll need to find someone who wants to accelerate it for you, I doubt that your tx is going to confirm without it anytime soon.

I don't think antpool still offers acceleration services for free, the only one that i know works for sure is https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/, but you can barely get in nowadays.

can you abandon the transaction using electrum wallet?
then just do double spend attempt with higher fee, excluding the unconfirmed input
are you making payment to 134VwwSMD... or just consolidating?
if you need help creating double spend tx let me know 8)
