Title: I am killing this persona.
Post by: Anonymous on July 07, 2011, 04:36:00 AM
My age is extremely tied to it. I've already lost a potential partnership over it, it seems. I won't let it deny me opportunities any longer. I'll be around but as somebody else.

Oh, I see.

I misunderstood.  I thought that you had killed your persona long ago.

Now watch... someone is going to trace his new donation address to his old wallet and figure out which profile matches up with which person.

Time for a game of "Guess Who is Atlas!"

The trick is to look for new members with wildly increasing post counts, mostly containing half-baked ideas that are soon discarded.

Just keep an eye out for anyone who thinks grammar rules are mere pedantry.

Sadly, this is the truth. Atlas should have continued using this persona and slowly phased in the new one. But damn, that'd be an identity crisis. I doubt I could do it...

What was the age thing and who was he (I) fighting with?  I'm sadly curious, who has the scoop.

Also, too many people negative toward his plans

The age thing is that he's 17, and considering the big mouth he often espouses with about many large topics, people look down on him for it.

My (minor) beef with him personally is that I think he tries an awful lot to describe the bitcoin community as something it's not, really. I couldn't care less about his age.

I mean, I'm not discrediting Republican libertarians who think the US dollar is going to plummet to nothingness, but they aren't the whole of everyone who uses bitcoins. :P I use them because I think they're pretty cool and should gain more traction, and partially as an investment as well. (Though I'm trying to become a more active spender/earner because of the whole investor problem.)

I doubt Atlas was remotely a repub.  Perhaps you don't understand what a libertarian actually stands for?

I fully agree with everything said here.  I like that Bitcoin has strong political supporters who seemed to have been wanting or needing a currency like this to act as a solution to a lot of their issues, along with all the drug sellers and buyers, and other illegal trades, plus the 24 hour stock market for the gamblers, and all the technology behind it.  I support all these aspects of Bitcoin :)

I'm pretty sure I do, and I would be so bold as to call myself a libertarian. I don't entirely understand how a Republican could be libertarian either, but as far as I recall he said he was both, and I've seen others do the same. I would guess we're both just misunderstanding something, many things and beliefs can be reconciled.

This is should be the first Bitcoin.org forum meme.

I am going to set up a donations page to start getting people to do it.

A word to the wise, Atlas.

Loud announcements mean nothing in real life. Real progress takes determined action over time. It took me over 40 years to discover this, so I don't begrudge that your posts so far include lots of loud announcements with little evidence of the determined action over time. Also, it took me over 40 years to gain the same understanding of society and freedom that you already have, so props to you!

As for your new persona: it's going to become obvious anyway, because there's no-one else in the forum quite like you. So why bother changing? You're going to turn 18 anyway.

Yeah, in all seriousness it will likely become evident unless you greatly overhaul your behavior to no point. Anyone who mocks you because of your age was never seriously considering any of your ventures to begin with, and this will only make things worse.

He doesn't have to change behaviorally, just watch his post content.

I see where he's coming from, also. I was 23 when I became a retail business owner and I've been told I look much younger than I actually am. Consequently, I had several customers who refused to believe I was the owner or manager, thinking that, at best, I was the owner's son. I can't say with any certainty how much business I lost because of this, of course, but I can attest to the fact that many people will judge you based on your age.

And just to get it out of the way - No, I'm not Atlas.

It is my suspicion that you are ragged on not because of peoples' prejudice toward your age, but rather some of the (in my humble opinion) crazy content, propositions, and opinions you espouse.

Dude, remain as Atlas. While some of your posts are extreme opinions, i honestly don't see what you are trying to escape, i like most of your posts. Changing a nickname is like changing clothes to change your shadow, fuck that remain Atlased!

I'd also prefer if you stayed as Atlas, really. We have very different opinions, but you are very intelligent. Honestly, the thought that you were 17 never even crossed my mind, as even though you do have your immature moments, you sure know how to formulate your opinions in a concrete way. You're certainly very knowledgeable for your age, and I doubt most people see your age as a problem.

Atlas, If you feel that your age really is the issue, then use a different nick for a year or two, then come back to Atlas.

In the meantime, enjoy the meme you've started.

Mmmh. You assume you'll be able disguise your
age with a new persona ... to achieve this, you're
going to have to work on form depth  and substance,
I think.
Do you mean the depth and substance that you will be showing us znortlas!  http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/images/smilies/shifty_eyes.gif

I'll stay. I just became extremely depressed last night. I'll abstain from being impulsive from now on.

Thank you all -- for everything.

Also, I have a lot of stagnant donations from the  Lobbying idea. If you made a donation, please claim it.

(I need to know the amount you donated.)
