Title: ? About Trust
Post by: A.Delaney on January 02, 2018, 06:04:39 AM
I made a purchase that went perfectly fine from someone here. I went on their profile and left them a positive trust. It also showed up in my profile that I left them a positive trust. This person also did the same thing for me. However it only shows in his profile that he left me a positive trust. It doesn’t show up in my profile that he left me a anything at all. How come?

It's in 'untrusted feedback'.Click the link to show it or go into your profile to show it by default.

So, this Neo-Geo left you positive trust when he didn't need to?

He already had your coin.  Why did he need to trust you?

Oh ok I see that now. Why would it be untrusted? Did he click the wrong thing?

No. It's untrusted because he is not on the default trust network. All users start off with untrusted feedback until you have earned the trust of the community by leaving valid and worthwhile feedback and someone then adds you to their web of trust. Once you are trusted by someone else on default trust your feedback will the show as trusted and effect someone else's trust (either positively or negatively).

I don’t understand. He and I made a deal. I paid him. He shipped the item. All was good. I just asked that he leave me good feedback and I would do the same for him. That way in the future. If I was making a deal with someone else they could see that I am trustworthy and not a scammer. I thought it worked like eBay. Positive feedback or negative. Only here they call it trust.

Ok so can I add him to my web of trust then?

Yes: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust.

Type his name there and press update. He will appear trusted to you and his feedback will appear trusted ONLY to you. Don't do this unless you trust that particular individual's judgement.

Ok it was throwing me off because when I clicked on his profile and looked at his trust. It showed +1 and my feedback was under trusted feedback on his profile. Then when I looked at my profile under trust. The feedback he left me was in untrusted and I don’t have a +1. I was confused on why he had a +1 trusted feedback and I didn’t. I assumed we had done the same thing for each other.

Well, obviously you are trusted by yourself. Your name is by default, in the trust list and you can't remove it.

He will not see your feedback in the trusted feedback space since you are also not in his web of trust (assuming that it wasn't changed).

Ok I added him to my trust. Now I have the +1 and the feedback he left me is in trusted feedback.

As long as you realize it is only that way to you.  Everyone else will still see 0 trust.

[...] I left them a positive trust. This person also did the same thing for me.
Carefull with expressing such things. Some grumpy moderator may tag you with red trust points for 'trust farming'.

Oh really? Ok I didn’t know that. There’s just so many scammers I think it’s important to leave feedback when you have a good or bad experience with someone. That way other people know. I don’t want any red trust though because I would never scam anyone in my life and I don’t want anyone to be afraid that I would.

Moderators do the same what you did among themselves. That's how they received so many green trust points. They just don't like it when others outside of their little green circle make progress also on this forum. Then they tag you with red trust for any silly reason they can come up with. That's how they stay in power. It is best to keep a very low profile towards certain moderators. Just for your information about how things work around here.
